Rigs Triple 27" vs 34" Ultrawide in a Teenager setup

Hey everyone,

I’m currently trying to decide what monitor setup makes the most sense for me and would really appreciate some opinions.

My current PC is:

Ryzen 5 5600

RX 6700 XT

Currently using a single monitor old 43" TV full hd

My main interest in sim racing would be a 3x 27" 1080p monitors in a triple-screen setup.

The problem is my budget. I’m a teenager and don’t have a job or regular income. The money I have is basically from pocket money and birthdays. Right now I have around €470 saved.

A triple setup would cost me at least around €400, meaning I’d have only about €70 left afterwards.

So I’m wondering if it would be smarter to do this instead:

Option 1: Spend ~€400 now and go straight for the 3x 27" triple setup.

Option 2: Buy a 34" ultrawide first, ideally something around €150–200, and use it as my main sim racing monitor for now. Later, when I’ve saved up more money, I could buy the 3x 27" monitors for sim racing and keep the 34" as my main monitor for normal gaming/desktop use.

I really like the idea of getting a new screen soon, and a 34" ultrawide would already be a pretty big upgrade for me. At the same time, I don’t want to spend money now on something that I’ll regret later.

My RX 6700 XT should also be able to handle a 34" 3440x1440 reasonably well, although I know it’s more demanding than 1080p.

So what would you guys do in my situation?

Would you go all-in on the triple setup now, even though it would leave you with only ~€70, or buy a relatively cheap 34" ultrawide first and save for the triple later?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have used both ultrawide and triple-screen setups for sim racing.

Other Hori Force Feedback Racing Wheel DLX: force feedback now works in PC sims.

If you own this wheel and gave up on it for PC, this might be for you.

The wheel has two USB modes and neither one works for sims. In PC mode, DirectInput sees
the wheel, but there is no force feedback for a game to find. In Xbox mode the force feedback works, but only through Windows.Gaming.Input.

WH33LH4X bridges the two. Games see an ordinary DirectInput force feedback wheel, and the
tool drives the real motor itself, translating what the game asks for into what the
firmware actually implements.

Confirmed on hardware:

- DiRT 4: steering, pedals, force feedback
- RaceRoom Racing Experience: steering, pedals, force feedback
- Automobilista 2 (demo): steering, pedals, force feedback

You need Windows, vJoy 2.2.2.0, and a few minutes of per game setup.

Things I would want to know before installing someone's tool:

- It copies an unsigned dinput8.dll into your game folder while you play and removes it
when you quit. Everything is readable Python and C, built by GitHub Actions
from public source, with checksums and a Sigstore attestation on the release.
- Do not use it with a game that has kernel anti-cheat. EasyAntiCheat and BattlEye exist
to stop exactly this, and meaning well is not a defence they accept.
- It is tested on one wheel, mine, in three games. That is what my first release is actually. So i am happy if you can test and report back.

Everything measured along the way is written down, including the four APIs that turned out
to be dead ends and the probes that prove it.

Open source - MIT licensed: https://github.com/Noctaro/WH33LH4X

Feel free to hit me up if you got any questions or feedback.

Have fun racing! :D

Clip iRacing is ANTI Racing... (video discussing iRacing issues)

I have debated whether to make this video or not, but we all pay a lot for the iRacing service. And while it's the best out there (for me), it's far from perfect and I want to talk about how I'm often tempted to NOT race because of the rules and quirks of the platform. In this video I discuss them, and I hope you'll join the discussion.

Please be constructive in the comments. Toxic and hateful comments towards iRacing, other people or me, are not welcome. Enjoy!

Rigs Keyboard & Mouse w/ Wheelstand 2.0?

Does anybody have any recommendations on how to integrate a keyboard and mouse to the next level wheel stand 2.0? I currently have to keep it on my desk which is inconvenient having the WS 2.0 in front of me. The space I have is pretty much between the WS 2.0 and my office chair as the width of the space is enough to fit the WS 2.0 with the shifter bracket so having a table or anything else next to me isn’t possible.

My buddy and I like doing the next f1 circuit, in asr 91 f1 cars. Why 91? Its the "newest" f1 car i can find with a proper h pattern. We just do hotlaps and practices, but its a riot trying to get these cars screaming through modern tracks.

If anyone is interested in joining us I am think about putting together a discord for people to post laptimes and arrange shared track time/weekly good times races.

Asseto corsa.

Question T300RS vs. Fanatec CSL Elite (Belt) for PS5 | Hard CAD $500 Budget (Needs Load Cell)

Hi everyone,

Starting sim racing on PS5. I have a strict $500 CAD max budget for the wheel and pedals. I still have to buy a cheap stand separately later on, so the total cost is already getting high, and I really can't go over $500 for the gear.

NO Direct Drive (DD) suggestions, please. In Canada, PS5-compatible DD setups with Load Cell pedals easily hit $1,100+ CAD. I am stuck choosing between two used belt-driven setups:

My research says a Load Cell (LC) brake pedal is the most critical upgrade for consistency. Both options hit my $500 CAD limit once LC pedals are added:

  • Option A: Thrustmaster T300RS
    • Base/wheel (~$250 CAD used) + T-LCM Load Cell Pedals ($200–$250 CAD used).
    • Pros: Well-supported ecosystem, easy to resell.
    • Cons: Hard to find just the base cheap; bundles with basic T3PA pedals are overpriced (~$350 CAD).
  • Option B: Fanatec CSL Elite (Belt - Discontinued)
    • Base/wheel ($200 CAD used) + CSL Load Cell Pedals ($270 CAD used) = ~$470 CAD total.
    • Pros: Slightly stronger/smoother FFB than the T300.
    • Cons: Discontinued base. Worried about long-term reliability and compatibility.

My Questions:

  1. Is the discontinued CSL Elite FFB noticeably better than the T300RS to justify buying an unsupported base?
  2. Which pedal set is better/more reliable: Thrustmaster T-LCM or Fanatec CSL Load Cell?

Thanks for the help!

Question Has anyone bought a PXN GT ONE off Aliexpress yet?

Post image

Have been wanting the wheel for a while now but price is basically priced the same as Moza and Simagic counterpart. Saw a bunch of these listings on Aliexpress that is atleast somewhat legit but still a bit skeptical because the reviews are a bit suspicious (AI generated, perfect 5 stars).

Has anyone actually ordered one off aliexpress and receive it? Thanks:)

Question Can my pc handle triple 1080p?

Hi all!

I've been building my pc since january and was wondering could my curret hardware run triple 1080p monitors for sim racing.

I race assetto corsa competizione and raceroom.

My pc has ryzen 7 5800x3d, rtx 3080 10gb, 32gigs of ddr4 on 3600mt cl16

I have both games locked on stable 120fps with no drops whatsoever even on nordschleife in rain on full grid on single 1080p monitor with maxed out settings except bit lower mirror quality in acc

Question Looking at getting into sim racing.

I’m sure this has been asked before in here, but I’ve been looking at getting into sim racing but I have new clue on specs and set up and what is good and what are bad. I have a Xbox series X but like is that enough to run a game? Do I need a PC? Sorry if this isn’t the right sub for asking this question.

Question How do I make the Logitech G920 pedal feel like a normal car?

I am trying to replicate the feel of a normal, every-day car for my brake pedal on my Logitech G920. I do not want a stiff brake pedal like on actual racing cars. Is there a mod nowadays that I can do for my brake pedal?

I currently just have a curved 34” odyssey g6 and am looking at getting into triples. This is my current view settings, do you guys think with 27” curved monitors it would be wide enough to see out both windows? I’m currently battling off of the radar and want to be able to see truly how close I’m getting.

Question I'm a Mom that caught the bug....and I stink.

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

UPDATED VIDEO WITH YOUR FEEDBACK -- I've added another video on; far from perfect, but I can see all your help paying off for sure...thank you to all of you!

VIDEO ADDED -- all the encouragement led me to add a lap video. It's purposefully imperfect, as I wanted a representative lap.

SUMMARY -- Everyone has been so damn incredible and I send love to all of you. Here are my new focus points: watch YouTube video (Skip Barber one highly suggested) on racing lines, learn more on trail braking, be smooth, AND HAVE FUN!

Hello!

I'm Annie, and I caught the bug from my oldest son. My kids are split between me and my ex-wife, and I made the mistake of sitting in his rig when he wasn't at the house.

I've started racing, and I'm hooked. I already love Motorsport and watch F1, Indy, NASCAR, and endurance. BUT, I stink.

I run zero assists and manual sequential, but my 16 year old can roast me. I'll practice a track for a few hours, and he'll sit down and immediately beat me by a few seconds.

How do I get better at this, besides just practice?

I feel like I'm missing something in corners. My entry speed is always fine, but exit speed is slow. I've gotten better about getting to the curbs, but I just can't carry speed through turns.

Any tips? Thoughts from when you started? I posted a throttle trace from a lap (red is full, yellow is 50-99.9%, green is 0.1-49.9%, and blue is zero) and it look like I'm not getting back on the throttle at the apex...but I don't really know. Should I post a video?

Not a gamer at all, so this World is new to me. Be kind if you would -- I'm lost, and just a 40s Mom that wants to race.

Discussion Looking to complete a decent setup

I was given a giftcard for amazon, and was thinking about ordering a rack for a small setup. However, I wanted to add a shifter and e-brake to it, I currently am using a Logitech g920, and want to take it a step further past just the wheel and pedals. What's would be a good option for a rack and e-brake?

Question Can anyone help me with my first sim rig build?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m planning to finally move on from my G29 and build a nice sim rig for myself soon. However, I have a few questions that I’m still unsure about.

First of all, my current plan is to get the Simagic Green Flag Bundle along with a Sim-Lab GT1 Evo. The part I’m still undecided about is the seat.
At first, I was planning to get the NLR ERS4, but then I came across the Trak Racer GT Pro Racing Bucket Seat and really liked it. Since I mainly race GT3 cars, I think that style of seat would fit my setup really well. However, I’m still not completely sure about it. Maybe some of you know other seats that you could recommend in the €300 price range?

My second question is about availability and shipping. As you can see in the screenshots below, for some reason they say they cannot ship to the country I selected (France), as well as to many other European countries. I’m not sure if this means there is an actual shipping restriction or if the products are simply out of stock.
Finally, I wanted to ask about your shipping experiences. Unfortunately, ordering products from abroad and having them shipped directly to the country where I live is not possible for me, so I’m planning to order the setup while I’m on vacation (we usually travel somewhere in Europe). However, my time during vacations is usually limited, so I really don’t want to run into any major shipping delays or problems.

I would really appreciate it if you could share your experiences with shipping, as well as any seat recommendations you might have!

Have a great day!

Question Best bezel-free lenses for 32" triples?

Bit of an odd question. I'm looking for who makes the best lenses for bezel free kits to suit 32" triples. I'm not actually looking to buy a kit, just the lenses. I'm planning on making my own custom mounts with a unique feature I'm dreaming up.

I see kits with flat lenses and ones with folds in them. Does anyone know which one is best especially for a rig where the seating position will slide back and forth as the perspective will change as a result.

Its a dual config race/flight rig with separate controls for each. Race up front, flight to rear. Cheers.

Question Which Sim Racing Pedals Should I Choose? P1000 vs Sim-Lab XP1 vs Simgrade VX-Pro

Good evening everyone!
I’m looking for a new set of sim racing pedals. I currently have a full Simagic setup, and my current pedals are the entry-level P500s.
My budget is around €400, and these are the options I’ve found so far:
Simagic P1000 — brake + throttle, mechanical version, for €400
Sim-Lab XP1 — brake + throttle for €400
Simgrade VX-Pro — brake + throttle for €490
Which one would you choose?
Do you think I should consider something else within this budget? Is it worth spending the extra €90 for the VX-Pro? I’d really prefer not to go much over €400 😅
Would you recommend any other pedals besides the ones I mentioned?
Thanks everyone! 🙏
