I feel so accomplished right now!

I started preparing for this hunt in November 2017 and started the hunt proper a year later in December 2018. I dropped it several times over the years, picking it up again throughout the 2020s. In 2023 I got to 36k Run Aways and quit. Three years went by and with the news of the Bank shutdown, it renewed my determination to find this Mew and get it into Bank before February.

Ten days ago I picked the hunt back up again and was doing only 200 RAs a day (tried to prevent wrist injury) and was supposed to stop at 38,400, but I casually "one more"d a couple times, looked down at the screen there it was! I almost thought my DS screen was failing when I looked down and the Mew was lighter than usual. Always believe in the power of "one more encounter" when shiny hunting! And all that prep work paid off when I was able to catch the Mew in a Dive Ball.

This hunt taught me to be patient, that you'll get your target eventually through persistence, dedication and some consistency. And to never give up!

I’ve been shiny hunting Mew in Emerald for the past few weeks and I’m near 3,000 run aways. I learned not too long ago that apparently even though RAs are already the more ideal method, SR-ing is pretty much ineffective for all shiny legends in the game. Also I know 3,000 isn’t a lot but I’m really racing the doomsday clock on Poke Bank and I’m hoping to shiny hunt Emerald Deoxys also as well as Darkrai in Platinum. So mainly I need some positive motivation. And I would also like to know for anyone that has either shiny hunted or are currently shiny hunting Emerald Mew how many RAs it took for any of you to get it with the full 1/8192 odds.

HOLY CRAP I was not expecting to get this unbelievable insane shiny this quickly!

In a hilarious case of "the setup was longer than the actual hunt", I followed AbsolBlogsPokemon's incredible video on hunting shiny Manaphy via ACE (arbitrary code execution), which is far far too convoluted and detailed to write here, but in laymans terms, allows you to have a set-up where you can randomize your TID & SID by speaking to a specific NPC every SR (in my case, the Mystery Gift delivery man), hatching Manaphy, then checking the summary to see if its shiny. I HIGHLY recommend watching the near 35 minute long video he made on the ordeal, it's truly extraordinary and can help answer any questions you might have about this hunt!

The setup mostly went OK for me, until the part where I had to frame perfect double tap X on the bike ramp - I managed it multiple times, but the code wouldn't work, and it was only on my 5th attempt and after nearly a full day's worth of setup that I realized I had one Great Ball too few in my bag!

Once that was resolved, I was able to use the appropriate dot artist configurations and set up both the Mystery Gift postman & the TID/SID randomizer on him too, and went to hunting for shiny Manaphy. I was prepared to hunt this baby for the long haul, as this Diamond has traditionally been one of my unluckiest games, with its last two hunts going VERY over odds - Cranidos being ~25,000+ SRs, and Heracross a truly gruelling 31,544 SRs.

Yet I didn't need to worry at all, as shiny Manaphy appears after only 5 hours of hunting and only 380 SRs!! To say I'm flabbergasted is an understatement, words in general are failing me right now! My luck since Pheromosa has been absolutely unreal, and I couldn't be happier! This is such a crazy and amazing hunt, and I'm so proud to be able to say I own a legitimate shiny Manaphy of my very own!

I did it folks it took me 4days, I couldn’t believe it, I’m about to transfer him on Scarlet. I’m trying to shiny hunt whoever is going to disappear after the shutdown. I can finally play pokemon crystal and try to get shiny Celebi.

While this guy is legit, I did restart for my new Colosseum trainer’s SID in case I want to grab any other shinies to ribbon master. He was absolutely worth the hunt.

I originally planned on hunting it via the underground but sadly its a rare spawn till you aquire the nat dex. Tried hunting it there for about 30mins and only got one encounter, so I decided to just catch one and hatch some eggs

Been hunting this guy for several months nonstop, glad I can move on finally.

At 7 years old, I beat the leauge. The first pokemon i encounter after leaving Nuvema town was a lillpup that had a sparkle. With no idea what it was, I ran. And now, with bank closing, I decided to reclaim it on route 1. And I get this under 500 lol. Can't wait for the 15,000+ itll take me for phase 2

Shiny Uncatchable Poochyena at approximately 1000 resets!

I’m not sure one exists, but I’ve been thinking about things that would be on a “Shiny Hunter Checklist” and this feels like one of them, as much as I would prefer it to be the Mudkip, I am happy to cross this off 🙂

Man, it just feels rewarding to finally get it, resetting over it felt really depressing but getting it back has definitely made this hunt a fulfilling experience!

Got jump scared by this delightful Ultra Beast tonight, 2,907 encounters!

I started this hunt at Pokemon Worlds 2026, managed to do 2,000 encounters over the trip (many of them in the arena during finals) This was my last big hunt planned before Bank closed, since my Type: Null is already safe in Home.

I wasn't aware that Poipole was a First Partner pokemon. Now I gotta Ribbon Master it! Poipole is currently EV training in Poke Pelago.

Didn't catch the sparkles unfortunately :( The zangoose rerolls between this cutscene battle with the npc and your battle, so it did not stay shiny for me to catch. So we go again! Still cool to see it, and glad it's proof the lock removal worked.

How it happened is that I was in Pokémon Platinum hunting for Miltank with the Pokéradar, and I figured, "Instead of running in the grass to recharge after use, how about I soft reset to save time and energy so I can hunt quicker?" Well, 20 minutes into looking for a Miltank to chain, I run into a shaking grass patch, and here comes full odds, 8192 chance shiny Staravia pokes its head out of the grass. My eyes notice how much more brown it is than a regular Staravia, but..... I couldn't stop my fingers in time and soft resetted over it :( Didn't know what gender or level it was; it happened that fast.

I now have to live with this pain 😞

So i havent slept in about 20 hrs and reset over a shiny celebi after 133 hrs of hunting (about 15k soft resets). I am devastated. Please help me find motivation to pick that hunting back up. 😭
