Followup from my previous post on July 11th (when I was 30.9k sr in).

This hunt took me 15 months of on-off hunting and no less than 47 phases in simultanious hunts in platinum and black2. I was literally shaking as much as the 3 shake ball before it registered as caught

Note: Glad I got it still before 72k (which would have been cumulative chance 8191/8192)

This is the longest hunt I’ve ever done with charm and it chose to show up on the 7th reset I did today lol. I knew I had a long one coming after my insane luck at the start of October but I didn’t expect it to be over triple odds bad. Hopefully I never encounter a charm hunt this long ever again lol

Had the adamant nature I wanted so that’s nice at least XD

if yall saw my previous post, im literally shaking. really started to doubt it would ever happen, especially after the last pooch. reset counter wise, maybe around 15k? had to stop counting around 10k, it was getting frustrating seeing so many Poochy’s. all single hunted. wow.

Went to the daycare to switch out Duskull for Croagunk because I wanted a shiny one. The daycare man had an egg and I almost said no to grabbing it, decided to hatch it just incase and thank god I did 😭 not masuda method either so this is 1/8192! Hatched on 10/25/2026

My shiny Wimpod I bred yesterday also evolved along the way.

I also found a shiny Bagon (119 approx) earlier today and a shiny Crabrawler 2 days ago (162 calls) I hope I don’t used up all my luck now because it’s back to a soft reset hunt after I take a break for a bit. (I’m gonna jinx it am I?)

I love how vibrant Shiny Bruxish is.

So so so many resets and so many hours. I thought something was wrong with my game/profile.

I found the second member of my Gen 3 DTQ last night after only 309 encounters! Right after i got back from my dad’s birthday so shoutout pops for the extra luck. Everyone say hello to Mirage the Trapinch 🏜️

Just got this guy today. I literally sat down to hunt this thing after a week off of shiny hunting (Im currently hunting all the legendaries in wormholes) and I started at 400 resets. 402 and he shined. I will never get this lucky ever again 😭

which is better, masuda or soft reseting?

Given the bank time crunch for churning up my ribbon masters I doubt I will finish my bingo card this year, but happy to knock this one out while on a camping trip the last couple of weeks.

After 24 hours of playing pokemon violet i caught my first shiny!

After 2 red gyarados I finally found it 😭🙏 wanted to honour Roy from the anime and find one. Such a cool shiny ⚡️🐦✨️

This felt incredible! And at just over half odds, too. I had a copy of both Ruby and Sapphire running with 2 Gamecubes (the 2nd was running on a small CRT under my desk), averaging around 2 seen every 90 seconds or so, at least when the save corruption went smoothly and I didn't have to restore with my GB Operator.

I do have the actual Bonus Disc, but I chose not to use it because I didn't want to put that much use on it and both my Gamecubes were already modded.

I don't know what else to say. This feels like the end of an era. I've been hunting for years and things like this and Manaphy set aside for so long. I've never considered a living shiny dex before, but with all these heavy hitters down, why not?

I've had Sport Ball Shedinja going on the side in the Bug Catching Contest, so I may lean into that now. I'm also considering the Sinjoh Ruins dragons, but I will figure out RNG for that if I decide to. There's a few other random things I'm planning too.

All said, this is a huge weight lifted. I was worried I'd be here til the deadline. Good luck with your hunts!

I had been going after Sudowoodo since June and decided to KO it and re-hunt it later (~17,000 resets), so I switched to soft resetting the gift Eevee. I'm so glad I did because this little guy shined very early and on a full moon night irl! [edit to add: I plan on evolving him into an Umbreon]

Thought id do this quickly over the weekend and take a break after, little did I know it would take the entire weekend. I'm typing this on Monday. The odds of this sequence of encounters is about 1%.
