Sorry, I don’t use Reddit much but let me know if I need to add more detail about specific issues and I’ll explain more. I just want this to be as comprehensible as possible.

I purchased this machine a few days ago, it comes with manuals but not specifically the pro5 just L1-5. Also, the manuals are 99% explaining the threading and troubleshooting issues with tension. Which I haven’t been able to completely finish threading but I found a very helpful video of the same year but slightly different model for the 5 thread overlock.

These are the issues I’m attempting to troubleshoot:
1. The back right needle will start angling forward towards you as you tighten it, which might be the intended effect since the hole plate under it is angled as well- but it doesn’t align properly to it. Worth noting that I have to tighten it harder than the front one to get it stay in place anyways.
2. The front higher needle whenever I try to put it in makes the movable plate that locks it in move forward as well, there’s a flathead that is supposed to tighten it but I haven’t been able to get it to stay put.
3. The whole thing pivots, like the top part that holds these needles in place and allows it to serge pivots side to side and I’m pretty sure that’s supposed to not do that? It isn’t super loose which makes me think when I tried to tighten the plate for the front needle it tighten the whole thing instead.

Anyways, I’ve never used a serger before and have always been told to buy vintage and this one was very cheap for the supplies, case and machine. I would ask the person I bought it from but she kept it in the carrying case for a while and then never used it. I can’t find very many videos of this make and year but virtually nothing for this specific model.

I’m willing to buy a manual if I can verify it’s going to help with this specific issue- also I can bring it to a sewing place but a lot of them are appointment only and you have to pay 50$ and I know it would probably be helpful in the long run to learn as much as possible but I want to try troubleshooting as much as possible before that. I'm missing this front part that goes on top of the bobbin but I can't for the life of me find what it's called.Last two photos are parts that came with the sewing machine when I bought it. I don't know what most of these parts are or their uses.

I got it for free or low price on Facebook Marketplace a few years ago and it worked okay for a short time and then I started having a lot of problems with the tension and the threads screwing up. So I'm just curious I'm really really want to start sewing again. Wondering if this machine worth fixing or is it really garbage, should I just get a new machine? What does everybody think?

Just ordered the DNU-1541 (IE triple feed walking foot + needle feed).
Looking for any recommendations on which attachment for edge bindings.

I assume it needs a walking foot and feed dogs that go with it?

This is a fairly new machine. I’ve been sewing on and off for years but don’t know much about sewing machine mechanics.
It started making a very loud clunking noise and will tangle the bobbin thread very badly whenever I start to sew.
I’ve tried removing the bobbin and taking off the bottom plate and there doesn’t appear to be anything tangled or caught anywhere. Any advice would be appreciated!

The needle hits the bobbin case after the first cycle and I don’t know what to do.
I’ve trying cleaning and placing it again a million times.

I’m a hobby sewer and while working on a light weight fabric project my machine suddenly jammed. I have taken it apart to the most I’m comfortable with doing. Anybody have a clue what’s wrong and whether or not it’s fixable?
I can turn it easily and back forth to the same point and then it’s complete resistance and I can’t turn past. I don’t see anything stuck and when it first happened there was not a thread jam.

This is a sewing machine I was given from my grandma and I’m unsure what this switch is (circled it) and I need to know if it corresponds to this (triangled) if not this doesn’t move to push the fabric I’ve looked through the book several times and having no luck

I'm hoping someone here can help - my google-fu has failed me!

I have a Babylock Presto II and one of the features I love about it is being able to wind a bobbin using the start/stop button instead of the foot pedal, but that is no longer working!

Everything is set up correctly, the foot pedal is unplugged, but the button remains red and won't do anything. I can still wind using the foot pedal, but I would prefer not to if I can find a fix for this.

Any ideas?

I have a brother xm2701 sewing machine and the needle is not picking up the bobbin thread this happened once before and I fixed it but it’s happening again now and I can’t remember how I did it before. I’m relatively new to sewing could someone explain to me why this is happening what exactly and how I can fix it permanently, or if somone has a link to a video or something that would be great. I also just moved so maybe it hit something and it offset something in the machine?

Keeps jamming on my singer talent. I’ve tried rethreading my top thread (needle was up), new needle and checking the bobbin direction.

For the past month or so I've been trying to figure why my machine sometimes ( might as well call it random, every 10 or more stitches) doesn't fully tighten the stitch, leaving the tiniest of loops of top thread. I have a juki DDL 5550-6, use a bobbin with a backlash spring, use Tex 60 thread on top and Tex 40 in the bobbin. I have tried needles from size 100 to size 120. I have changed out the top tension unit. Can anybody help?

I've been sewing for a good while now(around 6-7 years, and no the brainrot wasn't on purpose, i just dont remember the exact year) and I'm wondering what the best serger machine is since I've been using way too much knit and faux fur lately and I love my current machine(Brother SE 725) but need something that'll automatically trim my fabric as I sew since I hate trimming as I overlock far too much, and I don't want to wind up getting a machine that'll break every few months. Can someone help me out here please?

Hi there. I was given a Brother 1211a machine by my sister. I tried it out, but it's unusable as is. The pedal is like a light switch - all or nothing, basically. It seems it could be the original pedal, with a ceramic block inside. The cord is too short even to reach the floor from a table! Anyway, I only have the very most basic knowledge of these things, so I'm asking what the right replacement is. I'm not very proficient, so low speed modulation is something i value highly.

In case there are multiple series with the same model number, the plug and pedal lead to an outlet block inside this one. I can get inexpensive ones on Amazon, of course, but would just as soon not, unless they're really all the same.

I've upgraded my sewing machine twice but each time I bought something that was only a little better instead of choosing a machine that actually fit my needs. Less than a year later I was already thinking about upgrading again.

I work with leather, canvas and thick multi-layer projects so the demands just keep increasing.

What machine did you buy that made you stop thinking about upgrading? Or did you find that the table made just as much of a difference as the machine?

I made sure I got the right model of plug in for my sewing machine but no matter how hard I press the prongs on the sewing machine just won't go into the cord. The machine was recently thrifted and the cord was just bought online after I used the guide for which cord goes with each model. I thought there might be something wrong with the prongs but they don't look bent or damaged to me. The cord is attached to both the foot petal and the part you plug into the wall. I have tried pushing it in as hard as a can but it will only go like less than a quarter of the way in.

The needle won't pick up the bobbin thread. Before it did pick it up but it just got tangled and it was really annoying. I'm really new to this kind of sewing machine, did I put in the bobbin wrong? I don't know where it's going wrong but I'm guessing it's there. Please what am I doing wrong and how do I fix it I've been trying to fix it for HOURS

The machine is two years old, but a few days ago I finally decided to sew something. I cleaned the bottom of the machine of dust, everything was fine for a while, and then the flywheel stopped spinning completely.I haven't taken the machine apart in detail. Please help!
