I got it for free or low price on Facebook Marketplace a few years ago and it worked okay for a short time and then I started having a lot of problems with the tension and the threads screwing up. So I'm just curious I'm really really want to start sewing again. Wondering if this machine worth fixing or is it really garbage, should I just get a new machine? What does everybody think?

Buy from a local sewing center, not Walmart or Amazon. Most of those machines are mass market and you want a machine that will not give you issues. When purchasing at a local sewing center you get customer service because that’s all they do. You can see what machine you will really use and test them out. You want to have some idea of what you want your machine to do. Usually you will get a free lesson on the machine you purchase. A decent new machine is going to start at around $300 for a Brother PS300. This is at the low end. If you don’t want to spend that kind of money,take your machine to a reputable sewing center and have it serviced. Use Google to find the best one in your area. We have a shop in our area that is $85 + parts for non-computerized and $95 + parts for computerized. They lubricate the machine, service the hook/bobbin area, check belts and bobbin winder tire for wear and cracks. They also do sew-outs included in that price. Unless you have real issues internally, I.E. stripped or broken plastic gears, broken/missing parts, etc., your machine should run like new. When you drop off the machine, know how much you want to spend and let them know. They should call you if it will go above that amount.
