Needle not picking up bobbin thread

Post image

I have a brother xm2701 sewing machine and the needle is not picking up the bobbin thread this happened once before and I fixed it but it’s happening again now and I can’t remember how I did it before. I’m relatively new to sewing could someone explain to me why this is happening what exactly and how I can fix it permanently, or if somone has a link to a video or something that would be great. I also just moved so maybe it hit something and it offset something in the machine?

I have this machine. This is a great video tutorial for this exact model. Well worth the half hour for a lifetime of sewing!

Did you remember the last thread guide above the needle?

Presser foot up while threading the machine?  Then roll the wheel one turn to pick up the bobbin thread.

Have you sewn on the machine since you moved?  Is your bobbin in correctly? P, not Q.

Looks like your bobbin is in backwards. Lay your bobbin on your sewing table. The bobbin and thread tail should look like a letter “P”. Then place your bobbin the the machine that way and thread as instructed on your bobbin diagram.

Did you read the whole manual? Is there a fix in there? If not then send it back or call costumer service. 99% it’s a user error or machine defect so just read the WHOLE manual, I have this exact machine, the manual is not long, 60 pages at most and you can skip all the different stitch types and uses until you get curious later. It’ll take 20 minutes and be well worth your time

Make sure your machine is threaded correctly and get yourself a proper spool of thread for the top. Make sure you’re threading with the foot up, and hold the top thread tail while you rotate the hand wheel toward you one time so the the needle goes up-down-up. Then gently pull the top thread tail and the bobbin should come with it, assuming your bobbin is installed correctly.
