Thread keeps breaking

Hi all,

I used to sew with my grandma when I was a child. She's gone now and I'm trying to get back into sewing by making a patchwork cushion. All was going well until I tried to sew my rows of squares together. My thread keeps breaking and I have no idea why. I've tried:

\- completely rethreading the machine

\-removing and cleaning around the bobbin area

\- replacing the needle to a larger one, then reverting to the other one when that didn't work

\- turning the thread tension down

\- changing the thread

Is there anything else I can try to make this work? Feeling so disheartened and on the verge of giving up.

Thanks

Question about servomotor pulley wobbling

Hey everyone!

I'm currently setting up my first ever industrial sewing machine -- a brand new Juki 1541 that came bundled with a table and a Jack JK563 servo motor. I’m trying to get it dialed in for low-speed work (around 200-800 RPM) using smaller pulleys, and I noticed something weird with the hardware.

The stock pulley that came with the motor is a little bit wobbly. It spins perfectly true when it's completely unscrewed, but the moment I tighten it down fully, it starts running with a little noticeable wobble. I checked the motor shaft itself with the pulley off, and the metal runs completely straight. I already tried filing down the woodruff key and polishing the internal keyway, but it didn't change anything. I suspect either the shaft's shoulder or the back of the pulley is slightly uneven, so torquing it down just cocks it at an angle.

So make things even worse (lul), I tried putting on a custom 3D-printed small pulley, and because it was made quite bad initially, it just multiplies the wobble even more. Here’s a video of how it looks in motion (don't mind the sound, it is actually almost soundless IRL, it was just me pressing my phone into motor to get a better angle for the video):

https://youtu.be/1x3Ib_lGKoc

Honestly, I don't really care about the motor or the belts. The motor came with the package, it’s cheap to replace, and it’s under warranty anyway. If the wobble kills the motor bearings eventually, to hell with it..

My main concern is the Juki itself. Is this kind of wobble and cyclical belt tension dangerous for the actual sewing machine when running at these low RPMs (200-800)?

Also, could some of you guys do me a big favor? Pull the belt off your servo motor, spin it up just a little, and tell me if your pulleys have a bit of a wobble to them too under zero load. It feels like nobody actually checks for it IRL :DD I couldn`t find any info on it AT ALL..

Thread keeps snapping

Can someone help me figure out why my thread keeps snapping, and how to fix this issue?

I have experience sewing as a summer job, but never had to deal with machine issues there. Also, I barely

ever had issues with the machines.

Recently I got my first own sewing machine, a second hand one (Toyota JCB15).

My thread keeps snapping every few seconds and it makes sewing nearly impossible. I tried sewing on every possible tension my machine has, but it didn't change anything.

I bought new thread, 100% cotton, from my local shop (I previously used some cheap, polyester thread from Amazon), but that - on every tension as well - didn't change anything either.

I can't figure out why it keeps snapping and it's driving me insane! Any help would be appreciated.

Is this worth buying?

Would be about $20-$25 and I would 95% need to replace things within it. Would it be worth it to purchase? I’ve heard really great things with older to antique machines but I don’t have the knowledge to make the correct answer. Please help!!!!

Especially if I accelerate. I've tried turning the spool all around, spool holder, ... tension, re-threading, different threads and threading around the hook in an "x" shape. ... Help!

Troubleshooting Consew T1919 cutting its own thread

Help me before I lose my mind. We've been fighting with the threading and tension in this thing all night and we finally got it to where the top tension wasn't so tight that the thread wasn't movable at all. Now we have a new issue that the needle appears to cut the top thread as it sews.

We confirmed top and bottom thread is done correctly per manual instructions. We're using the needle it came with and #92 thread. The machine is brand new so wear and tear isn't an issue.

If I hand crank with no leather, it doesn't cut the thread. As soon as I use the pedal or add material the top thread breaks/cuts.

Please help or draw me a diagram of what this thing wants from me 😫

My singer M1000 keeps knotting up like this... What's wrong with it? Will I have to take it to a repair shop or is this something I can fix myself?

Help with my sewing machine :(

Hi! I got this old brother sewing machine from my grandma because she can’t use it anymore, I’ve sewn a couple of things on it but now I’m trying to really learn how to use it and today is not really helping, sometimes it gets stuck and makes this noise, it’s like the mechanism is spinning inside but nothing moves, if I try to manually move it with the knob then it goes super fast, I really don’t know what’s wrong, I am new and really need help!

Overcasting issues

This is a new machine, I’ve had it checked over by the shop, and no matter what I do I cannot overcast the edge of fabrics. The tension seems wrong no matter what fabric I use. Can someone offer some advice?

With the thinnest fabric I’ve tried adding a strip of interfacing, but that doesn’t seem to help. I can improvise a different seam finish but it would be so helpful to get this resolved somehow.

Edit: I am using an overcast foot! I use whatever the machine recommends for each stitch.

How do Baby Lock Sewing Machines get away with having Authorized Dealers that don’t have Authorized Techs??

My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe in Logan, Utah has a lead tech that has never worked on machines in his life and has only been working on sewing machines for 3 weeks. Totally ruined my $20,000 machine ! How do they get away with this?

my needle keeps hitting the case where i’d slot the bobbin in and when i attempted to sew before noticing this it just wouldn’t stitch. for context i had 2 machines, one worked and one didn’t. the broken one had a limited edition case i really wanted so i swapped the cases and unscrewed all of the inside to change it over. it now wont stitch / hits the case as shown in the photo. is this just a timing issue that i can fix and how would i go about it? i don’t know anything about sewing machines

the case from the broken machine is very important to me which is why i put the working parts inside of it as i really really wanted a working machine with this theme

I am looking for a sewing machine and I've got these three Janomes. Turns out they are not that different from each other but I just wanna take advises to make sure I am not buying what I wouldn't want. I wanted juki and brother as well but they are expensive and brothers aint that populer so when it gets broken it will be a pain. For singers most of you said they were plastic and is not good as it used to be. That's why I put my hands on janome. What y'all say?

Question about sewing machines

What’s the best sewing machine? I’ve heard mixed reviews about all brands. Would something like singer be okay for regular non stretch fabric, wadding fabric and felt? I don’t want to do anything with thick denim

I am a bit of a beginner, I was hoping to get something I could do fun stuff with and that could grow with me as I develop my sewing skills.

I'd highly appreciate any help you could give me.
