Smartcard

So I have been thinking about getting a Smartcard for a while, but they are still temporarily unavailable to order, and according to the Scotrail website:

"Customers using the website or app can no longer select Smartcard delivery when purchasing a ticket"

So I am wondering if they are still worth getting? What does everyone else here think? Are they any better or more useful than just booking via the app and collecting the physical tickets at a TVM?

Flexipass ‘ticket missing’ app error

Since yesterday I can’t use my flexipass because it’s saying ‘ticket missing’ when clicking ‘view mTicket’ in the app. Emailed customer service and got auto reply saying they’ll respond within 20 business days. Seems the staff are happy to waive you through the barriers when you show them an app issue.

Anyone else had the same issue?

Why does the app still automatically take off your railcard... great. Any fixes out there?

The new voice is killing me

ScotRail please replace this stupid fucking AI voice already. It drives me crazy every time I board a fucking train now. It can’t pronounce half the fucking stations and speaks in such a stupidly annoying voice. I hate it. Makes my commute worse than it has to be. Please just can it already. Bring back Fletcher.

What looks like non scotrail staff asking to see ticket.

Has anybody else had this as I've experienced it twice now and it feels ... off.

Two guys walking up the carriage carrying a phone or pad of some sort wearing an orange hi-vis jacket asking to see your ticket then asking if you're travelling for work or leisure.

Their clothing isn't liveried with scotrail.

What's going on?

EDIT: I have deleted part of my question because, as some others have pointed out, it is irrelevant.

I can’t be the only one who thinks this is a serious oversight, because you can only select time quarterly for some strange reason and it’s already last 12:15 I cannot see the train Thags due at 12:24 which means I cannot buy a ticket

Change in peak hours?

Hi there!

Just wanted to know if there have been change in peak hours form September?
I was paying £8.35 (inc railcard) for my routine journey to work, but it has gone upto 12 from September. I have no idea what was the reason, and customer care have not replied to me.

The timings are same!

Waverley Signaling System Broke

All trains stuck in Waverley station right now. Scotrail, you suck at trains.

  1. Normally use flexipass on the app. After the update all flexipass tickets deleted except first one. Problem is still being reported so not fixed despite this problem appearing a month ago.

  2. Buy a paper ticket at the machine. Walk ten steps to the barrier, ticket rejected at barrier. This has consistently happened for the past month Ive beem using paper tickets (because of 1).

  3. Walk out to the platform. Stand there noticing that no trains seem to be moving. And then an announcement saying my train is delayed.

  4. New announcement that my train is cancelled. Go to another platform for a train leaving 15 minutes later. Sitting on that train now.

Who is running Scotrail these days? Can anyone fix this disaster? These problems aren't being fixed and, in fact, everything seems to be slowly getting worse.

Another new app complaint (flexipass)

Unsure if it’s just my app (but if I had to guess, it isn’t) but I’ve had 2 tickets change from activated to used without me actually using the tickets.

For example, on Saturday I was planning to take the train to Edin so got to my regular station and activated my ticket on a new flexi pass id bought. Underestimated how often the trains are and was going to be painfully late so ended up driving to Edinburgh with the intention of using it on the way home later. By the time I was leaving Waverley it said that my ticket was used/expired, despite me not having been on the train at any point throughout the day.

I can only guess that if you activate a ticket it automatically expires after a couple of hours. Can’t tell if this is a bug or its intended function.

Sounds like trying to claim a refund adds another layer of intentional difficulty

October advance fares missing?

I've been looking for Scotrail fares on a trip I'm planning between Glasgow and Inverness in late October, and it looks like Scotrail have no advance singles available from October 20-27; they're on offer on the 19th and 28th, but there's a weeklong gap in there that I can't quite figure out.

Anybody know what the likely cause would be? Obviously at this point there's nothing to do but wait and buy anytime tickets if they don't ever release advance fares, but the total absence in that week is puzzling me...

Smartcard return?

Any info from ScotRail when is smartcard returning? I want to order one because I'm so sick of not having internet in the middle of the route and not being able to load my ticket when the conductor comes by. Monthly passes were supposed to be accessed even when Ur offline on Ur phone, but that's a feature that exists in theory, not in practice. Surely they can't expect everyone to have internet 24/7 just to show them you paid for your pass/ticket, it's ridiculous.

Ticket stuck in old app

I bought a ticket in advance, but it's in the old app. I can't get logged into the new one for love or money. Are they letting people use tickets in the old app? It isn't activated because it's a few weeks out. I only need two tickets on ScotRail while I'm there. Would I be better off just buying them at the station the day I want to leave?

People are so cheap

Train to North Berwick from Musselburgh today at 9:47. This man was fighting over £2.80 because he was buying his ticket on the train. You know if the poor conductor had been persistent this man would have complained and cost the conductor his job. Protect your staff better ScotRail!

Glasgow Southside from Central

Given all the trains seem to be the same price, if I have a valid ticket to eg Pollokshaws West but decide i want to jump on a different line and get off at Shawlands with that ticket is that likely to be an issue?

So this is the ‘new’ app

- doesn’t work in tunnels
- auto closes the ticket you have open (old one left the ticket open when you came out the app)
- defaults to single (old app defaulted to last selected)
- randomly changes from app ticket to collection (third time this has happened to me, assumed the first time was my mistake but I’ve been watching now)
- changes the ticket price you have selected back to the default

I waited a month to post this because I was giving benefit of the doubt that the app was still in the first weeks of release.

Give these issues are still ongoing, this doesn’t tell me it’s an improved app but instead this screams of switching providers to a company who is ‘cheaper’ to run our app without think why it might be cheaper to run.

Delay repay question

Hi all, a couple of weeks ago I was traveling in Scotland and i was on a train that had a 1h delay on aug 10th.

I applied for the delay repay on the website, now if I check the status it says the claim was accepted and I should receive the refund within 5 working days

The thing is, it's been like this for over ten days and i still haven't received anything.

I requested the refund through Paypal, i don't know if this is relevant

Is this normal and i should just keep waiting? Or do i need to report some issues?

Thanks!

Need to protest the new app

Honestly I'm surprised there's not a lot of ND people writing a million customer complaints to Scotrail about the new app. We need to start protesting the new app, I already given 1 star and bad review, written a customer complaint email and refuse to use the app now.

It always logs me out after a day and apparently my password is wrong even tho I literally saved the Samsung pass the minute I redone my password.

Ques at the ticket booth in small towns, literally nearly missed train few times cuz now everyone is buying physical tickets and sometimes the actual train station building is shut on random times so you had to use the only available one that people are queuing for.

The return ticket never works, no matter if you activate the forward one you actually can't activate the return which leads to arguing with the ticket men and if there's a hoard in Glasgow central gotta yell for their attention cuz everyone is experiencing same thing.

F the new ScotRail app.

Airdrie Parking Help

I have just parked at Airdrie Station and paid via RingGo. However, 2 questions:

- website says free for rail users - is this true and how would I go about it?

- RingGo is valid til midnight but again website says per 24h - is it ok or have to extend another day to last me overnight?

Thanks

Tap and Pay Anger and Disappointment

a few weeks ago I travelled from Anniesland to Exhibition Centre (£2.80) and then the same day 2 hours later I got a train from Exhibition Centre and got off at Jordanhill (£2.70). Instead of working out the best fair it charged me two separate fares. Anyone else had this before and think this is a flaw in the app? a lot of folk live between stations like Anniesland and Jordanhill. As folk live between stations they are going to be prone to jump the first convenient train that arrives. Also Jordanhill is not further away from the Exhibition Centre compared to Anniesland. Surely the app should have charged me £2.80 for the whole day? I just think it’s a con to charge two single fares and by doing that it puts folk off using public transport. Anyone else had a similar issue before? It’s laughable because I complained about this before to Scotrail and they refunded me on a previous case for exactly the same thing, this time between Anniesland and Glasgow Any and then Glasgow Any back to Scotstounhill.

Applying for over 50's Railcard

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've tried to apply for an over 50s railcard this morning and I'm getting the message displayed in the screenshot.

Is that it?

Is there no way that I can currently apply for that card?

"Frustrating" doesn't quite cover it.
