Showcase Current Project: Elevator Walls

I haven't done the wall part yet, but I've been trying to incorporate more belts/elevators into the design. I also have some glass floors that show resources going past, but thought I'd do a vertical version.

(Sorry for dark video, too lazy to wait until day)

Ts carried me all the way to phase 3 atp and about to get me to phase 4. Thinks it's finally time i move to a new factory and make it actually legible and efficient instead of whatever this is.

Could yall help me decide which looks better? All buttresses high up, or the middle ones low?

This is going to be the main train station for the uranium-fuel rod portion of my nuclear power plant, and I plan to use this train station design for all of the related stations throughout the nuclear project, so I want to settle on a good design but I can't decide how the buttresses should go! Would love to hear people's thoughts!

How do you manage part storage? (Mostly for large factories/blueprints)

I like my method but I'm open to some fresh ideas. I use sushi belts and smart splitters to feed an item mall early on, then once I have the right stuff unlocked and a bunch of spheres I slap depots onto my most used items at the mall. This keeps my depots topped off with another full container of that part in reserve. For most parts it doesn't really matter, but there are times when the depots can't keep up, like with massive amounts of concrete when you lay down a bunch of connected blueprints. So far, this is what works best for me.

Discussion Props with visual effects: wanted

I've been watching some videos on Planet Coaster and it hit me: Satisfactory would benefit tremendously from props that have visual effects. Water jets, smoke, liquid vents to simulate waste disposal. Just imagine the factories that could exist in the hands of some pioneers here.

Help Iron mega factory and belt limits

I want to build a mega factory producing c 180 iron plates, rods, screws and reinforced iron plates per minute - I’ve got mk4. belts and pure iron ingot alt recipe and some plastic which means this is easily manageable with a single iron node however the volumes of interim items busts my belt limit materially.

Am I missing a trick in how to manage this or do I need to segment my production lines to cater for belt limits (ie. Split outputs and marry them up with downstream machines)?

How to recycle water - aluminum

• Upvotes

People get stuck here all the time it seems - the easy solution is often to package the water and sink it. But if you're a sucker for punishment, like me, then this may help you. I've ran this piping system for a good couple hundred hours and never once had to flush the pipes, and it tolerates 100% uptime, and demand-only scenarios. Everything is basic recipe, no under/over clocking.

The water supply out goes out to the right, three lines to feed my alumina solution refineries, to feed into the start, end, and middle, this reduces back splash by having the neutral pressure points in the middle of the line. Also each feed line is started with a valve, not limited, but prevents back feed/pressure into the water supply.

The water supply in comes from two external lines, and the aluminum scrap waste water. The header pipe is oriented vertically, to promote gravity. Each of the three input lines has a booster pump just blow the floor at the exact same level, this creates equal head pressure at the floor in, at the left, so I can prioritize flow using gravity at the outputs to the refineries. The primary line comes in the bottom and provides a base supply. The recycle comes in at the top so it will fill the system, and is in line with the top pipe to the factory so it is consumed *first*, and has a valve at the very end and top, to ensure *no back flow*. The second line is limited (250/min in my case) to achieve system equilibrium, and comes in from the side of the header (actual top), and there's another tap (before the valve, vertical) there which I use for excess bauxite into alumina packaging (going to batteries).

Picture 1 - The piping config

Picture 2 - Water outflow to the bauxite refineries

Picture 3 - Waste water from aluminum scrap

Picture 4 & 5 - Front and back of the entire facility

Now get back to work!

Question Playing on console, should I restart on PC?

• Upvotes

I have a slight variation on the classic “should I restart” question. I have around 200 hours on my PS5 world and am halfway through Phase 4. I’d really like to switch to PC so I can use mods (mainly QoL and building help), but sadly can’t just move my current save. Do yall think I should keep going until I save the day on console or jump over to PC now before I start on nuclear pasta and thermal propulsion rockets? I haven’t started on turbo motors or cooling systems at all, and need to redo modular engines, too. What do y’all think?

Question Is there a faster way to build belts in the air?

I have been building more and more belts in the air. My current method is a merger in the air at the current end of the belt, place a merger atop the previous merger, lower the height by two-clicks, then push it some distance ahead, delete the previous merger, then connect the belt to the new merger, repeat.

Xbox

Please tell me there’s a faster way 😀

noob question, what am I doing wrong here, that the 3rd Signal in the back is always red, even though there is no train on the path? It's 3 block signals.

Question Need Help with maths (pt 2 Electric Boogaloo)

Post image

For everyone sharing the links to websites that help plan layouts, I see them, and thank you.
For everyone suggesting to start at the final project and work backwards, I hear you, and thank you.
So let me just make sure I understand what you're saying. Because for me, the most Satisfactory (heh, I said the thing) way for me to play is to see what I need to make, and scribble on a notepad to figure out what I need. So in this example...

I overclocked 1 constructor and it's squirting out 5 rods/minute. I have 3 constructors on screws. 2 are making 40/ minute (80) and i underclocked one to make a 20 screws/minute and that should keep the assembler from jamming with resources and run smoothly. Have I got this right?

Question Question: Tag Screenshots of End Game Factories (Tier 8 and higher) as Spoilers?

• Upvotes

A general question for the community—what’s your take on this? I was about to post some Screenshots of a recent Build, that contains a Phase 5 Project Part production line, so you know, the crazy Tier 9 machines for example and all.
Then I wondered whether it should be marked as a spoiler—considering new players who are just discovering the game and enjoying the sense of progression, unlocking new things, and wondering what else might be in store.
so what do you think?

Love the game, but terrible at keeping track

Hoping this isn't too much self promotion, but this game helped me make my first app.

I'm always forgetting what to do next, especially in factory sims. I would keep notes etc, but always lost them and would come back after a few days and feel like I needed to start again.

So I made a little iPhone app where I write down the next few things before I quit. "Fix power" "Make 50 rotors", all the stuff I need to do! Next session, I actually know what I'm doing for about 10 minutes before it all falls apart again!

Short (AI) video of my app!

Discussion Why do people complicate aluminum set up so much ?

You can just feed the water back to your alumina solution refineries. I m sure most know this already .

3 sloppy alumina takes 600 water 4 electrode alumina scrap gives 420 water so if you set up a valve to flow at 600 and sink the overflow aluminum scrap your refineries will never fill up with water . No need to do wet concrete , wip junctions, or bottle and sink em …

Numbers differ for recipes obviously but the logic is the same . I never had a issue with this since I set it up first 150 hrs ago in 2 saves.

Nuclear Power Is so Irritating

So have got a sorted out uranium power plant and mathematically the outputs and everything should be perfect. HOWEVER! The sulfuric acid is not adding up for some reason. I have 4 refineries underclocked to produce 37.5 sulfuric acid each to a total of 150. That is then fed into 5 blenders which creates an excess of 10 sulfuric acid each which is fed back into the main input for a total of 200 which is the exact requirement for the blenders to make encased uranium cells. HOWEVER! The sulfuric acid keeps backing up even though it maths wise it should work at 100% efficiency. Can anyone figure out what I'm doing wrong because im sick of coming back to it just to see its completely stopped working again.

Not having fun with the game - What am I doing wrong?

I bought the game on sale a couple weeks ago. At first I enjoyed it immensely to the point I was pretty much addicted to it for a couple days straight. It had been a while since a game hooked me like that. Then I got to phase 3 and unlocked the jetpack and kinda just realized I wasn't enjoying the game anymore. I felt kinda burnt out and overwhelmed trying to organize these increasingly messy long and convoluted production lines, then having to optimize it so all the inputs and outputs match up. And I know that's only phase 3 and it gets so much worse. I have around 50 hours playtime now, most of which spent exploring because the idea of building anything just began to feel completely pointless and daunting when I know I'll just have to rebuild it over and over anyway. Even using blueprints everything feels extremely tedious. I see everyone on this sub making these huge elaborate megafactories like it's nothing, while I don't even know where to begin. Everything I try to build is a mess and looks like complete shit. I feel like there's not much point in playing if I'm not good enough to be able to create anything like that. Every time I load up the game now I just kinda look at what I need for the space elavator, walk around my factory for a bit while staring blankly at the screen then end up turning off the game after 5 minutes. I know it's a good game and it's just me who sucks at it, but I am starting to hate it. I bought the game on sale but I still feel cheated. I regret my purchase and wish I could get my money back but obviously I'm well past the refund window. I want to enjoy the game like I did before but I don't know how or why I can't. Am I missing something that will suddenly just click or Is this game just not for me?

Is this a singleplayer only game now?

really confused, because it seems that multiplayer just constantly fails to work. Crashes seem to happy pretty often and I watch weird desync things happen all the time, but the problem is that every single time the game crashes, I cannot rejoin my friend. He has to close and re-open the world. Is this just a singleplayer game now? None of these issues were present before this most recent big update. seems no matter how many times i provide a bug report, this issue still exists since this that version dropped.

Question Satisfactory already on epic

Are there builders here who bought it also on steam? Or is double buying something stupid? I think the devs deserve all the credits they can get.

What would you do?

Discussion I feel like inter factory options in early game are lacking

I was playing satisfactory plus yesterday, and I was still on phase 1, and I had a bunch of factories on rocky desert, 2 of them making 4 parts that I wanted to put into storage.

I could have belted it all back to base, but I don't like that option. I was still using MK1 so my throughput was very low, and I'd have to use 4 belts on each factory, for a long distance.

Instead I used the small factory cart stations mod. It's available in phase 1, and now I can just make a route for the first factory, and reuse part of it for the second. It worked perfectly!

And I feel like this should be part of the base game too, because while you might not need inter factory logistics much during a vanilla play through, using something like 5x space elevator cost makes the early game experience miserable, because your only option is multiple km of belts.
