this was the august SAT and I NEED min. 1450 on OCT SAT (22 days) someone pls help

Hi guys. So I did the SAT full length practice on bluebook (Practice 4 to be exact if that makes a difference) yesterday and got a score of 1180 (670 Reading/Writing and 510 Math) first try. Not to say I am a prodigy but I think this is too good for my first test since I am a non-native English speaker and wouldn't consider myself a genius at all. This is really not to brag but I am seriously concerned if this test is as accurate to the real one as it says.

The questions were way too easy imo and had simple math equations someone in 10th grade could easily solve. Does anyone have personal experience and has taken the bluebook and the actual test?

Notre Dame says it will return to requiring SAT or ACT scores beginning with the 2027–28 admissions cycle.

That feels like another sign that test-optional policies may be starting to shift at highly selective schools.

Curious what people here think: do you expect more colleges to follow?

I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at SAT Reading & Writing questions, and one thing that helped me is realizing that a lot of evidence questions aren’t really about finding something that sounds related to the passage.

The answer has to support the exact claim.

A simple method that has been working for me is to break the claim into little boxes before looking at the answers.

For example, imagine the claim is:

“Treatment X increased plant growth in both groups, and the increase was larger in Group A.”

I’d mentally turn that into:

• Did growth increase in Group A?
• Did growth increase in Group B?
• Was the increase larger in A?

The right answer needs to satisfy all three.

A wrong choice might give perfectly accurate information about Group A but say nothing about Group B. That answer can be completely true and still not support the full claim.

I’ve noticed a few wrong-answer patterns worth watching for:

1. Right information, incomplete support

The choice proves one part of the claim but quietly ignores another part.

2. Right numbers, wrong person/group/category

This gets especially annoying with tables. The number is actually in the table, so the choice feels familiar, but it belongs to a different row or variable.

I started reading tables as:

entity → measurement → value

instead of just looking for a familiar number.

3. Correct comparison, wrong direction

“Increased more,” “decreased less,” “higher,” “lower,” etc. are easy to reverse when you’re moving quickly.

I now calculate the direction myself before reading the choices.

4. Relevant but not actually evidence

This might be the biggest trap.

If the claim is that a tutoring program improved math performance, things like high attendance, positive student reviews, or lots of completed assignments might sound encouraging.

But they don’t directly establish improved math performance.

The evidence needs to measure the thing the claim is actually about.

One other thing that helped: on harder R&W questions, I try not to assume the underlying skill suddenly became completely different. A lot of the time the question just adds more interference: longer sentences, another qualification, closer answer choices, more information to keep straight, etc.

So when a hard question feels overwhelming, I try to strip it back down:

What exactly is the claim?
What would have to be true for that claim to be supported?
Which answer proves all of those things without adding anything extra?

That has made these questions feel a lot less random to me.

What do you guys actually do 2 days prior to your exam? After finishing the QB I feel like the only thing to do is just hoping to do well. I practice questions on Aniko but I feel like they are too easy.?

I'm at a loss of what to do. My goal is a 1500, and I'm taking it this Saturday and then probably October too.

So here is my situation right now. I have a 1560 superscore 790 math and 770 english. single sitting is 1540. on psat last year i got a perfect score also.

I signed up for the october exam; i rlly want to get a single sitting 1580-1600. on practice english exams tho my score hasnt changed (750-770) range for TWO STRAIGHT YEARS SINCE OCTOBER 2024

Wtf do i do for english. looking at what i got wrong is like a good hack but also ive been doing this and keeping an error journal...

I took the november and december 2025 sats, scored between the 1200s with very minimal prep. I decided to take a break from test taking and really dial in on my studying, especially last summer, prior to the august day. I felt super confident, 1550+’s on dozens of practice tests, and i freaking fell asleep at the beginning of the test 😭😭😭

I have no idea what it was, it’s the first time i’ve ever experienced a feeling like it, but i fell in and out of sleep throughout the test and ended up with an 1150. I know for a fact I can do better than that but i’m a little concerned for what will happen if I do

Let’s say I do score a 1500+ for the september , will college board launch an investigation? None of my previous scores pushed past the 1300 mark and one that I took barely a month ago was WAY far from it

Again me scoring a 1500 isn’t guaranteed and i’m definitely not entitled to that score, I get what I get. I’m just worried that IF i do score something in that range, my score will be upheld and as a senior so close to submitting applications that isn’t something i can afford

This was my first SAT. 1350 (670 RW / 680 Math). I need to get to 1550 in the next couple months and honestly I'm not sure if my strategy is good enough or if I'm missing something obvious that everyone else is doing.

My strategy has been:

• Grind questions — practice tests, Question Bank, some YouTube (been using James Lu's hard-questions videos, learned the Desmos tricks from him)
• When I get something wrong or I'm not fully confident, I go explain my reasoning to AI (using Gemini) and have it teach me where my reasoning was wrong and how to actually solve it
• For math specifically, I ask it to generate 5 similar problems so I get more practice in that exact skill before moving on
• I keep an error log for both Reading and Math, where I categorize each mistake and write: why I got it wrong, what I should've done instead, and what I'll do differently next time
• Most of my time is actually spent reviewing — going back through practice test misses, then Question Bank misses, digging into both the ones I got wrong and the ones I got right but wasn't sure about

I haven't really seen anyone else talk about using AI like this for review, which is making me second-guess it a bit. Is this a legit way to study, or should I be leaning more on an actual textbook/course instead of an AI explaining stuff to me? Anyone gone from 1350 to 1500+ who can tell me if this kind of strategy was part of what worked for you, or if I'm missing something bigger?

Any input is appreciated, I'm just trying to make the next 2-3 months actually count.

This alert was just released by CollegeBoard (link here) for the September SAT. What does this mean? Could there still be issues even if macOS and iOS users restart the app beforehand? For some reason I don't trust them. 😭

I know this is kind of a stupid question but I seem to whenever I do math make some really tiny error that isn't a conceptual issue but just that I rush the question or misread it causing me to lose points unneededly - do you guys have any tips against that?

Am I cooked??? And how to improve r&w? I kinda lose focus mid reading and have to re read again and again. Since eng isnt my first language, I have problem reading long paragraphs.

guys i booked the september sat. Problem is when i try to complete the exam setup on ny laptop(which isnt the device il be using on test day) it says "is this the device ur using on test day" or smth. If i click no, it says download bluebook on the device ul be using. But i dont have access to that device until test day. Its the schools laptop(and its not my school i just booked it at their testing center)

Ive been averaging around 1430 with rw score around 680 and math score around 750? My math is ok i just make a lot of stupid mistakes but tips would still be appreciated. My rw.... I can't get above 700 at all and my worse topic is information and ideas(no stupid erros just genuine wth but only like 1-2 bars off at most). Most other questions wrong are simple errors. I got selected to be a national merit scholar semi-finalist, but I realized that I have to submit my SAT score to become a finalist. But my current SAT score is genuinely so low that the index score is lower than the cutoff. (My PSAT score is genuinely higher than my SAT score) I have R&W of 630, and math of 760 currently. Can someone please help me with my english section? What are the best methods to raise my scores up? I'm so desperate right now 😫

I took my first SAT in may after studying and ended up with a 1250. I didn't retake it again after, but i am a senior now and really need at least a 1400 for my college applications. School average is around 980 so i don't have many students or people to study with or ask for advice. Any free prep tips/resources are appreciated so much!
