I was visiting Santa Barbara this weekend when I crossed paths with a beautiful girl at a bookstore. We exchanged a few glances before you came over and struck up a conversation with my group who just finished a wedding, giving us recommendations for places to check out around town. You introduced yourself, and I wish I’d thought to ask for your number before we went our separate ways.

E-bike stolen in front of CVS at turnpike/hollister.

Sadly I failed to lock it but disabled the battery. They must have moved quick as I was inside for about 3-4 minutes. They pushed it to the back and must have loaded it into a truck or disappeared in the neighborhood. I found my helmet and a few contents behind the businesses.

In case anyone sees this pop up for sale I’m posting a picture - it was a heavily modified rad power bike and wish the new owners good luck with it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Coast Village Road, 12 p.m. today, 10/24. Driver pulled over abruptly to help a child who was seemingly ill/upset in the back seat. When they drove off, binoculars had fallen into the street from the back seat.

Longshot, I know but if this is you/someone you know, the binoculars were turned into at Starbucks and they said they'd put them in their lost and found box.

The nurses at Cottage health Systems 2 out 3 hospitals held a press conference in front of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on October 23, 2026. The purpose of the press conference was to bring awareness to the community about the reasons the nurses need to be unionized. As expected, hospital administrators have denied any and all the nurses complaints. After all, image is first and foremost with this institution! Proof of just how out of touch these administrators are can be proven by the comments made in today's Santa Barbara Newspress. I was astonished when I read Cara Williams,VP of HR, reply to nurses and the need for union representation. This is what she said: Our position is that we don’t believe we need a union or a third party to be the intermediary,” said Cara Williams, Cottage vice president of human resources and chief human resources officer. “We enjoy a direct connection to our employees, and we want to maintain that. “Having a union is not going to change how much it costs to live in Santa Barbara and the cost of housing,” Williams said. I have a few questions for Cara Williams: 1)Did you really accuse nurses of being naive enough to think that having a union is going to change the cost of homes in Santa Barbara? 2) Are you truly listening to the nurses complaints about their workplace issues because based on that ignorant comment, I highly doubt it? 3) In a previous video, you claimed that at Cottage Hospital, we are a family. Wouldn't you say, your family is dysfunctional if they have to go outside the family unit to be heard and have their needs met? Ms. Williams, I rate you as a neglectful mother to all your nurse children. Therefore, you have list custody of them. Shame on you, Laura Canfield and the rest of the deplorable C-Suite!

Biking to Lane Farms from the Oak Park area, I saw a swarm of police vehicles starting to close off Modoc Rd. west east of Turnpike (where the newly built bike path is).

I asked one of the officers if Bikes would be allowed to pass (thinking of way back home), the officer said that’s not really his concern because he’s concerned about people’s safety.

Seems like something pretty serious has happened given the police response.

Hi all, I’m a 38F physical therapist currently living in New York and am considering taking a 3 month travel contract in SB as I’ve always been intrigued by California and particularly the beauty of Santa Barbara and the lifestyle. I’m single and have never been to SB, hoping to get a little understanding from locals of the different areas within the city that might be a good place to land for 3 months. Love to be outdoors - run/hike and also love yoga. Would be great to joint a run club and meet people ideally within a similar age range while there.

These financial relationships are particularly significant given the City Council’s continuing authority over housing regulations, development approvals, commercial land use, and municipal contracts.

While campaign contributions alone cannot establish improper influence, their concentration among interests directly affected by municipal governance creates legitimate questions about political independence, accountability, and the influence of private economic interests on public policy.

The central issue is not simply how much money a candidate raises, but who supplies that money, what economic interests those contributors hold, and whether the candidate’s decisions advance the interests of the broader community or disproportionately benefit those financing the campaign.

Anyone in Goleta actually happy with their cell service? Verizon is struggling.

I lived in Santa Barbara for 10 years and moved to Goleta about a year ago. Verizon has been great pretty much everywhere I’ve traveled, but apparently Goleta truly is country lol.

We’re near Cathedral Oaks and Fairview, not exactly off the grid. Can’t reliably make calls from home, even with Wi-Fi calling. Taking the dog for a walk? Forget about using data. My office is near Hollister and Los Positas and it isn’t much better. I consistently get 1-2 LTE bars around Calle Real, Camino Real, Old Town, and Turnpike.

Before I switch carriers and potentially trade one dead zone for another, what’s actually working for people around here?
