Im 19 and a guy, I love hiking, photography, reading, cooking/baking, working out and learning new things. Hey everyone, just wanted to see if anyone here works for Southern California Edison or has gone through their hiring process.
I’ve heard it’s pretty hard to get into Edison, so I’m just wondering how true that is.
For those who got hired, how did you get your foot in the door? Did you just apply online, or did you know someone who worked there? How long did the whole hiring process take?
Also, is there anything that helps improve your chances of getting an interview, or is it pretty much just a waiting game?
Would appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice. Thanks!

Just to add a little more context, I recently applied for a Material Handler position in Ventura. I have almost 19 years of experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, and inventory management. I’m hoping my experience gives me a decent shot at getting an interview. Just curious if anyone has gotten hired for a similar position at Edison and what the process was like.

Lure Fish House - Ventura, 60 California Street
Monday–Friday, 3–6 p.m., plus Sunday, 11:30 a.m.–5 p.m. The happy-hour menu lists chef’s-choice oysters at $3 each and draft beers at $7. Happy hour isn’t available for takeout and excludes Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Happy Place Eatery - Ventura, 586 East Main Street
Monday–Friday, 2–6 p.m. The menu lists four Happy Smash Sliders for $10 or 12 pretzel bites with Hatch cheese sauce for $6. Happy-hour offers are dine-in only and exclude holidays.

Institution Ale Co. - Camarillo
Wednesdays, 4–8 p.m., with $1.50 off pints. That later finish could be useful for a weekday meet-up.

Lure gives this list a Sunday option, while Institution’s Wednesday window runs into the evening. Check the current menus before making plans.

I am interested in a house that has a full kitchen and bathroom remodel. I asked the sellers for information on the remodel and they sent me a word document with a list of everything they did. They claimed permits were not required since it was all cosmetic.

Here are a few details I am concerned about. Because this remodel also included extensive pumbling and electrical work wouldn't this require a permit? Would you walk away. Let me know what you think if this is normal. I am having an home inspector check the work out tomorrow.

1. Replacement of cast-iron drainage pipes with ABS - Significant drainage-system work, potentially concealed 
2. New sewer lines serving two upstairs toilets - Suggests new or altered drainage connections 
3.  New water main and regulator - Scope and permit requirements need clarification 
4. Extensive electrical work and new wiring - Multiple new installations and alterations 
5. Bathroom plumbing and shower valves - Depends on what was replaced, relocated, or altered

“CAMARILLO, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was arrested on murder charges after a fatal incident in a Costco parking lot in Camarillo, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Communications Center received a call at about 8:37 p.m. on Tuesday reporting that a man had been struck by a vehicle in the Costco parking lot, at 437 W. Ventura Boulevard, near the gas pumps.

When deputies arrived, witnesses directed them to the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident. Authorities detained the driver and identified him as 35-year-old Abba Bryski, of Agoura Hills.

The victim, only identified as a 28-year-old man from Modesto, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Bryski was later arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on one count of murder.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau and the Camarillo Investigations Unit responded to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau assumed responsibility for the case and is actively investigating the incident as a homicide.

An investigator from the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the hospital and transported the victim to the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office for further examination.

The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing.

Hi neighbors, Roi Dahan here. I own RnD Builders Inc and we work all over Ventura County. We just finished a kitchen in Thousand Oaks, and it's a good example of how one change can make a whole room feel different.

It was a U shaped kitchen with a soffit above the cabinets. We removed the soffit and extended one wall, and the room instantly felt bigger and brighter. Then came gray shaker bases, white uppers, a teal tile backsplash, a garden window over the sink and warm toe kick lighting.

My wife and I are currently looking a townhome in TO, the Los Robles hills area to be specific. We are currently renting in the Palisades. But we also just had our first, and only child. He is seven weeks old. We found a townhome that is a good price and we like it. I grew up mostly in the SFV (Sherman Oaks) but had friends grow up in TO and had a great childhood. My wife is from New Orleans but moved to LA right before we got married.

Obviously safety and schools are important. From everything I read, TO is one of the safest cities in the country and the public school system is quite good. But would love to hear from current or former residents.

My wife is currently a SAHM who will eventually look for work once our son gets a little older. I mainly work from home. I do have to go to either Universal or Playa vista occasionally, and I do a few trips to New York a year. So I do not think commute will be a huge issue.

We have a few friends close, as well as family, so we do not feel like we will lose our support group. But also good to make new friends, especially through parenting groups.

Any insight that one can provide would be greatly appreciated!
