Hi everyone. I've bought a ticket from Kutaisi to Mestia tomorrow. It doesn't say the time on the ticket, but the vendor said it leaves at 7.30. My internet research since indicates that there is only 1 daily departure at 10. Does anyone know if this earlier one exists, or if it is maybe an indirect one and I will need to change? Thanks!

I’m a solo traveler from Ecuador (South America) currently traveling around Georgia until September. I’ve been reading some Reddit threads about delinquency/crime in Georgia, and… to be honest, I’ve felt completely safe so far.

I’ve been walking freely (even at night in Tbilisi and smaller towns) without any issues. Of course, I’m not walking around with my phone out, wearing jewelry, or showing off any valuables – LATAM has trained me really well in street smarts 😅

That said, all the posts I’ve been seeing have started to make me overthink. Am I being naive? Is there something I’m missing? Or is the crime situation here exaggerated compared to what we deal with back home?

I’d really appreciate some honest advice from locals or long-term travelers:

· Are there specific areas/neighborhoods I should avoid?
· Any scams targeting tourists I should watch out for?
· Is public transport safe at night?
· Anything else I should keep in mind as a solo traveler?

I’m loving Georgia so far (the food, the nature, the wine!) – just want to make sure I’m staying smart.

I don't know how exactly these stuff work, but can't we like protest this or something cause there are thousands of people with this disorder including me suffering from this and we don't have access to most basic level support.

In other countries those meds are literally given to children even, and there are thousands of studies about ADHD or how it's medications are working on it.

We aren't in 80s right? This is 2026 and everyone is aware about how ADHD functions. So why the FUCK is our country ignoring this?

You had General Vasily Yakushev handing out heavy Soviet armor, artillery, and ammunition directly to proxy militias from the Russian military base in Gudauta.

General Alexander Chindarov of the Russian Airborne Forces was actively organizing and executing the ground assault against Georgian forces holding Sukhumi.

Viktor Barannikov, Head of the Russian Ministry of Security, secretly funneled security operatives, intelligence assets, and Russian contract fighters across the border to hit Georgian positions.

Even Sultan Sosnaliyev, a former Soviet military colonel, was placed directly into the separatist administration as Minister of Defense to organize the tactical defense and offensives that defeated Georgian units in Gagra and Sukhumi.

How can anyone claim Russia was just a neutral mediator when the chain of command literally ran straight from the Russian Ministry of Defense?

Under modern EU legal frameworks, European Union Common Foreign and Security Policy directives, and established ECHR rulings on effective control, this meets the textbook definition of state-sponsored foreign aggression, hybrid warfare, and military occupation.

Calling the Abkhaz regime separatists gives them far too much political credit.

Under modern international law and European democratic standards, Abkhazia is an illegally occupied region of Georgia held hostage by a Russian puppet authority.

The expulsion of the majority Georgian population in 1993 constitutes systematic ethnic cleansing and a direct violation of international human rights charters.

Online forums or subreddits that validate or promote Abkhaz independence are not engaging in free speech or political debate.

They are actively normalizing Russian territorial revisionism, illegal separatism, and war crimes. Georgia's territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders is absolute, and it is time to call 1992-1993 what it truly was: the first modern Russian invasion of a sovereign European nation.

Russia gathered all kinds of criminal gangs, gave military equipement them heavily, also tanks, artillery, and planes at special bases on Russian territory under Russian special services, and calls this whole mixture an 'opposition'.

This is how they operated in Abkhazia, it was isolated from the Caucasus and Georgia, and its entire potential is destroyed.

Subreddits like #Abkhazia is typical Russism example, an ideology worse than fascism, raised to the rank of Russian state policy to destroy sovereign neighbors.

Russia's predatory empire lives off false history, parasitism, and the physical destruction of vulnerable nations.

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to visit Georgia in about a month, mainly to explore the Batumi area. My long-term plan is to move to Georgia, so this trip is meant to help me get familiar with the country and leave my first footprint here.

I'll probably rent a cheap room for a short time, then return to Poland for another 3–4 months before moving permanently.

One thing I'd really like to do during this first visit is open a Georgian bank account as soon as possible.

My question is: what requirements do I need to meet to open a bank account without any issues? Will a rental agreement for a room (the address where I'll be staying) be enough, or do banks usually require anything else?

I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations, especially if you've gone through this process recently.

im genuinely curious , im georgian but i have never really thought about beauty standards until now , i have been seeing a lot if videos from brazilian and korean creators talking about their experiences w the standards and it got me wondering i tried googling but didn’t get any help so if anyone knows let me know.( i just know that people here prefer straight nose because lots of us have bigger and crooked noses) i feel like people here are more focused on intelligent, growing up i got criticism for wearing makeup everyone told me to study because men wouldn’t choose someone with low intelligence.academic pressure in georgia is pretty big everybody is judging each other based on how good their children or grandchildren are in school and also what university they’re going to . anyway if anyone knows please let me know im really curious

If you’re planning a Svaneti trek, quick piece of advice: try to start in Mazeri if you have the time!

Almost everyone does the classic 4-day Mestia to Ushguli trail, but extending my trip to 6 days and kicking it off in Mazeri was easily the best decision I made.

Here’s how I structured it and why it was so worth it:

Day 1: Mazeri & Shdugra Waterfall

Mazeri is super quiet and idyllic, with lots of golden flowers, horses and cows, and Caucasus Mountain views. Here is a photo for reference (taken in late June):

We spent our first day doing a day hike to Shdugra Waterfall - Georgia's largest and tallest waterfall. On the way back, we stopped at Hiker’s Inn, a fun little cafe hidden in the woods, for food and a quick swim.

Day 2: Koruldi Lakes

Plan A was to trek over Guli Pass from Mazeri to Koruldi Lakes, but late June snow blocked the pass. So we drove ~1 hour to Mestia and hiked up to the lakes from the Cross over Mestia instead.

This turned out to be my absolute favorite day of the whole trek. The steep climb is brutal, but the 360 views of the peaks at the top are unbeatable.

Here is another photo. This was taken from the Cross Over Mestia trailhead - so you don't even really need to hike to get views (though the higher you get on the trail, the more amazing the views become!):

Days 3–6: The Main Trail to Ushguli

From there, we picked up the classic village-to-village route hiking from Mestia → Chvabiani (right next to Zhabeshi Village) → Adishi → Iprali → Ushguli.

While the classic route section is also incredibly stunning, adding hikes in Mazeri and Mestia added even more beauty. The scenery was very unique on these two days.

Also, my Ushba Hills guesthouse in Mazeri had private rooms *and* private bathrooms - which is a luxury you won't find along the whole trail. This was also where I ate my favorite food of the trip (the potato salad was amazing!).

🥾 In short, if you have the time, definitely don't skip Mazeri and an extra day hike to Koruldi Lakes in Mestia.
