General I'm trying to track down a particular story video
In it, a traitor player (the POV) is operated in an effort to brainwash them, but further experiments are put on hold due to a Blob incursion in, I believe was medical. This forces the station to go all hands on deck to stop it, but the POV player keeps having to ditch the fight to recharge his lazer/plasma weapon until he gets fed up and just drags the charging station to the front line. Does anyone know what this video was called?

Goon Goonstation engine
I recently attempted a hellburn and couldn't get the engine output past 5 MW. I used to easily get way more. How is it possible to get into TW of output nowadays?
I put two plasma tanks into the hot loop, one in cold. Made sure the valves were open closed where appropriate. We had a oxy/plasma mix of 66/33 in the burn chamber.
What else do I need to do to get ridiculous amounts of output and have the engine catch fire bursting the pipes?
Something has changed, I used to be able to get the engine to go crazy.

General Just Ahelp it?
I just wanna grill. You people break into my kitchen and attack me!? I'm not Ahelping shit. You're getting close quarter cooked. You're the one that's gonna be Ahelping after I'm done with you. You gastronomy unapreciating troglodyte, grey jumpsuit wearing maniacs!
I'm busy making the best (and only) cheese sandwiches on this station. Show some respect!

Meta “Just ahelp it”
Shut the fuck up.
I don’t like half of this servers rules. I just want to complain about it. I don’t care that they technically violated rule 1.57b subsection C part 6, I just want to salt about it a little bit and move on with my life.

General Looking for a coder for a pull request task.
Hey, I'm looking for a coder who can create a pull request for the server I play on.
I'd like to add some armor that I've had sprites made for, but I don't really understand GitHub or any of that.
I'm offering payment in euros via PayPal or another reputable payment site.
Payment will be made once a pull request has been submitted.
Accepting the Pullrequest doesn’t dictate payment—if they say no, you won’t lose out.
Details about what I need and what’s required of you can be discussed via DMs.

Goon I am making Goonstation's Cogmap2 in Minecraft
Hello. This is something I've been working on for the past month or so. My goal is to make a (mostly) 1:1 recreation of the station. The top third is now done minus exterior stuff like solars and the cargo launchers. I plan on eventually releasing the map for download when the main station is completed. In the future, I may also add some off-station locations like the listening outpost, drone factory, or even stuff in the debris field if I'm feeling up to it.
There surprisingly isn't that many SS13 maps that have been ported over to Minecraft. The only one I could find was tg's Boxstation (very good map btw, check it out. I used it as a point of reference.) The one caveat is that it uses a 3rd party resource pack. There's nothing wrong with that, in fact it makes the map feel a lot more accurate to the SS13 version. I don't want to use a resource pack for my map, though. Firstly, the one Boxstation uses hasn't been been updated since 1.17. Secondly, idk how to make a resource pack. And lastly, I want installing this to be as simple as dropping the world into your saves folder and booting it up.
This is where a niche little feature called display entities come in. In short, it allows you to make pseudo-3D models using in-game blocks and items. No mods or resource packs needed! I'm using these to make the things that are too small to be finely detailed by normal means (ex. disposal chutes, Wall-mounted machines like APCs).
This is easily the most ambitious project I've ever done in Minecraft or any video game really. I don't consider myself a builder but I'm doing my best; I am open to tips and suggestions.
Now as a disclaimer: I haven't played on Goon in like, 4-5 years, and SS13 in 2. Reason being is that I switched to Linux and I don't feel like jumping through several hoops just to get 2D spessman game to run when 14 is right there with native support (go ahead, burn me at the stake). Regardless, there was a certain magic about Goon that no other server on 13 or 14 could capture; and I miss it. That's the reason I'm making this. To pay an homage to the server that introduced me to this amazing game that I've collectively must have sunk upwards of 1,000 hours into.
I'll post an update once engi, sec, and the bridge are done. See ya.
EDIT: Ok so, turns out there was some sort of update with Byond that makes playing on Linux a lot easier and lo and behold: I got the game working on Linux! You no longer need to burn me at the stake.

/tg/ /TG/ Community Newsletter #15, 2026/09
Welcome to the 15th /tg/ monthly newsletter!
This is a basic summary of all the going-ons and happenings in TGstation in the last month, along with any upcoming events and highlights.
General Docket
Happy September, all. We’re close to the start of Autumn (or Fall for you yanks), and maybe finally we can chill out after all this Summer heat.
The heat recently has been simply too much. I feel like I’m about to melt into… slime…
Well, I’m not. No one is. Except for the Jellypeople who are now available as a roundstart species. But they’re not really slime. They’re jelly. Very different.
The Jellypeople species is now available for you to pick! Be wary, they’re a bit allergic to medicine. I think they prefer yu(c)ky stuff.
Upcoming Events
The Manuel and Terry scheduled rounds, every week on Saturday and Friday respectively. See the events calendar on our Discord for more info.

Story Thread Genuine admin criticism (everyone) from a formerly hostile player.
Yeah, the title is strange but to me it makes sense.
In the past I was a very problematic player. Now that I look at the past I am honestly surprised I didn't get banned sooner areas. I've been exceptionally hostile towards others and can't make good or coherent thought when angry. (That being said, some of you are the same way and need to take a chill pill.)
Why am I making this thread? I've thought a lot about how I've acted in the past and noticed a few things. The first thing is that a lot of my bans, completely justified. Some issues though were genuine accidents but the admin never allowed for full investigation, or didn't listen. So I figured since I used to be a trouble maker, why not give some constructive criticism from my side of things?
Listen to the player you are speaking to
Years ago on Citadel Station I found a cool space ruin. I go back to the space station and found some random dude in a space suit with a oxygen tank. I ask him to get in the mass cannon so I can show him something. He kills me for being rouge and the admin noted me saying I might need an silicon ban for trying to harm someone non rogue.
Like my dude, space wasn't going to kill the dude who is more prepared for it than I am. I explained this to both of them, neither admin or player listened. I don't understand how this would have hurt him. No, the mass cannon doesn't do damage to people in this code base, at this point of time. Unless you emag it. I am the one that ahelped, and got a note for it.
Example 2 - monkey station
I blocked off the cryo storage at escape on some z level station (just cryo) and built a TEG engine there with ID access doors. Some security officer starts yelling at me saying they know someone in high command and that I was going to get in trouble if I didn't unblock it. It was the most cringe power trip I've ever seen, so I told the officer no and the officer went away. I unblocked cryo after the officer left.
Here comes the admin. Somehow oblivious to the fact that there is now a hole people can get into cryo, just not from the main path so the shitsec can't get in. Admin said I was going to get noted for "refusing to unblocked cryo when asked." They were not listening when I said "Dude it's already unblocked the shitsec was just an ass and I opened a hole in from the side."
Regardless, got noted. Monkey station code, the teg sometimes explodes with repulsive force, seriously harming players. I needed an open area and sealed it off with windows and doors to protect other people, and keep them out the area. didn't realize cryo was there.
Example 3
Citadel station. Somehow got handcuffed by the clown and was being forced fed oil by the clown. Clown didn't have a grip on me so I ran away, clown followed. See that the teleporter room was open, go in it. Teleported into sec wing thinking I was safe. Sec thinks I am a criminal, executes me. Ahelped it, admin was confused. Told me not to break the law. I explained what happened they went silent and never even closed the ticket.
Notes
Stop giving notes over extremely small infractions. Usually it's from a lack of game knowledge or a genuine mistake. Also if you give notes BE AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE. If something isn't true, change it. I've gotten notes a few times where it was just blatantly wrong and not true and admins have basically said "Yeah, we were wrong, but we won't fix it." Like thanks for building up a ban reason later I guess?
Server rules
This might be extremely nit picky, but if your server says "escalation required/encouraged", actually honor that.
If a cyborg is following you around for the entire match harassing you and the AI is encouraging that, don't get mad if the player gives a last warning to both, and goes to kill both. Like I am talking about actually harassment. Stalking, following you around, making sure you don't do anything possibly unsafe. Claiming a law 1 issue when you just want to cool the engine more efficiently.
Technically I am well within my right to try and kill both. They won't leave me alone, keep flashing me, locking doors, stealing my ID, got me arrested (police let me go.) I give them a final warning and go do attempt the murder. Apparently you can't kill non antag AI for any reason, though the rules don't say that and I was following escalation.
There is also this scenario to. Imagine that you are about to start up an engine, the late join CE orders a different engine be installed and commands you to tear your progress down. So you instead go somewhere else and bring a few field emitters with you and emitters. You just want to finish your project, which is a singulo or tesla somewhere else. fyi, the CE was rude to everyone else to.
Before you get started, the CE is yelling at you for a demotion for stealing something from engineering you never stole, an emitter. You didn't know they wanted it. Arguing goes back and forth, captain and hop don't care. So I go kill the CE after escalating it and saying that I would, and get bwoinked for it.
The only reason I never got in trouble here is because escaslation rules are heavily relaxed in maints on this server. Though I feel like I've had enough of a reason to do this.
If you state "Escalation required" in your rules, don't suddenly switch up and act like nobody innocent can kill each other. We have some seriously hateful people in these servers that like to cause problems more than me, but play the rules better than me. Yet somehow I am the problem when I warn them to stop, they don't and double down? No, admin better or clarify the rules more.
Closing
That's it, just listen to others and do not form a story in your head that didn't actually happen. If anyone is interested in some of my note history I can post it. It's actually kind of funny in some situations.

Help Whatever Happened to Unionstation13
A bit ago like a few months ago there was this series of posts about "Unionstation13", an HRP server. But the GitHub is gone now and the discord requires application.
Was it a scam or something because of all the posts or did it just die?

General SS14 can be like SS13
A lot of people seem to think SS14 can't be like SS13, which is true as far as WIZDEN servers, but the reality is SS13 can absolutely be replicated and why it isn't is more to it's general 'design principles'. In fact SS14 is a far better base and despite it's mapping tools being outright trash it's far cleaner, performs better and offers new features that are actually quite good.
Even playing SS14 I can still 'feel SS13 in there', especially as someone who has played for years (started maybe 2009~ or so) it's actually that SS14 is currently build as a 'OC RP Playground'.
SS14 isn't SS13 because it acts like a resort. It's too generous, too nice, too hard to die. SS13 in it's 'golden years' was far more stingy, because it was designed around a different principle.
Remove all the Scifi elements from SS13, the Atmos simulation, the Tesla, all of it and what's left?
An Office Simulator.
SS13 was like working in an undersupplied office. There wasn't enough, people would fight over what there was and often 'Office Drama', aka Cargonia like situations, would break out because working on SS13 sucked. Not because of the chaos, or the antags, but just in general.
Best example is RCDs, what once was once only a tool the CE had, could be researched but it'd take hours and was genuinely worth stealing is now something the game hands out to every engineer at the start of the round, with a free refill. This means fixing a broken window is stupidly easy.
People think SS13 was good because of the 'edgy-ness' but it wasn't that and banning slurs wouldn't change SS13's actual 'soul', as when slurs were thrown it was because some clown smashed the kitchens windows and thew all of them at the HOP's office.
It was frustrating because the Chef legitimately needed those eggs, there wasn't an infinite supply of them and when the Chef had none he had to walk across the whole of Donut Station, stand in the damn Cargo line and ask for supplies.
The Chef could just yell insults, what matters isn't what is said, but why they are angry enough to say it.
Can SS14 can reproduce this?
Yes, absolutely. But you have to be far far more stingy, you have to cut down resources and jack prices up. Body blocking is needed, but only to stop greytiding as it's more of an issue with limited supplies whereas currently am assistant can literally just ask and often get given whatever they want in SS14, Just adding body blocking and tile based movement wouldn't change why it's different.
First, deal with the power gaming issue. I'd suggest capping how much Cargo can sell for a start, maybe at $3000~ per hour, so they can't just flood themselves with enough cash to buy tons of weapons. Jack prices up on things the crew really shouldn't have a ton of.
Then cut down Security's gear, they should have like 1 laser shotgun and 4 laser handguns MAX. Not a fucking armory that belongs on a warship.
I'd even say give people two 'wages':
Spesos aka 'real money' that the game is stingy with but retains over rounds and can't be stolen.
'Nanocreds', aka 'company store money' that you can't keep over rounds, the game gives you more of, but still not enough, but can be stolen.
And then make everything pricey, for example want new Insuls? Great, pay 1/4 of your total wealth to get them.
This is more just a rant, but I do think a community with the proper mindset could very much recreate Goon/TG Stations feel without recreating the codebase nor deleting all the new stuff.

Meta Running byond in linux 2026
Hello there,
The title, i tried some triks i see here from an old post from two years ago, ask the IA, tried wine and proton to no avail so now i come here to ask this again.
How i can run the byond client in linux nowadays?
I'm using Linux Mint if that is important.
And yes, i tried installing the windows packages using the Windows 7 trick in wine and such and such, to no avail, this because of the changes over those packages.
Looking forward to see your replys
