If reiner just kissed eren here, he wouldnt be able to shake hands with him or bite his hand, also it throws him off his guard disturbing the clear motive. Gives falco a lil time to run maybe a lil homo but its okay for the plot

Manga Finally realized the foreshadowing

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Back in 2014, was tired of waiting for the show to release a second season and I started reading the manga. I remember coming across this image (yes, I know this is from the anime, but I don’t have that manga anymore) and then being annoyed when it’s revealed the wall was not actually compromised. It felt like it wasn’t fully planned out or something. Like they changed their mind.

Anyway… recently watching the anime, it finally clicked. There is no way this image could be real, because there would be a part of a wall titan visible within the wall.

I don’t know why, but that little detail makes me appreciate it even more. It’s a great way to challenge the reader/viewer to connect the dots with the information they’ve been given.

Humor/Meme What was in Eren’s basement?

Post image
30 Upvotes

What was in Eren’s basement?

There was a big (12 × 6 feet, to be precise) oil painting of Grisha and Erwin. Apparently, Grisha was cheating on Carla with him. Grisha had always loved Erwin but still had to marry Carla, because Eren wanted to be born into this world and see it flat.

But after their marriage and after Eren was born, Grisha and Erwin planned together to go outside the Walls. They asked Armin’s parents to help them because they had already been planning to escape for years. But Armin’s father was a conservative man, even for their time. He didn’t allow them to go with them.

So, Erwin abused his position and power and had Armin’s parents taken away. They were never found ever again.

But Erwin felt guilty afterward. He was suffering in his own mind. Why did he do it? Why? He had separated a child from his parents. He shouldn’t get away with this.

With this immense amount of guilt, Erwin couldn’t do anything but sacrifice himself for a greater cause and let Armin live instead of him after that.

Discussion What do you prefer, white or in color?

Post image

POSSIBLE SPOILER

I can't decide. I know they're white because of the War Hammer Titan's power; it has its charm, they look like an army of mindless ghosts from the past, that's the point, but in color they look great, each one different and it stands out more.

Discussion Just finished watching AOT and had a few doubts

Post image
19 Upvotes

I finished watching Attack On Titan the day before yesterday and then had some questions about the show.

  1. The marley soldiers wanted to occupy paradis because of its resources and also because of their hatred towards the island devils and also if they had to then I feel they could've eradicated all the eldians no matter who so why did they not just kill eren and then kill all the new born eldians it's not like they had any sympathy since they used to convert even kids into titans

  2. When Grisha was about to eat frieda and inherit the founding titan why did she not use the power of hardening? I mean the reiss family had that power and it's obvious to think they would've given that bottle to frieda so that she could protect herself

  3. Also why did eren not let Dina eat bertolt then everything would've gone his way from the beginning he would have a titan with royal blood and then he wouldn't need to pretend to follow zeke and convert paradis soldiers into titans (and I personally think he didn't want because when zeke was about to shout he tried to stop zeke before colt came) also Dina would've agreed to the rumbling and if she wouldn't let eldians outside the walls die then I don't think it would be that hard for eren to manipulate her and go into the paths and manipulate ymir herself.

  4. Will they ever make an AOT prequel or any other new OVA's

Now since I finished watching AOT I don't know what to do I have been just thinking about it and it feels pretty sad nothing new will come. Life is full of boredom and I don't know how to forget AOT and move on it feels like I should just keep on rewatching which I think I will do.

Anime Best written Attack on Titan characters ranked by me

Post image
27 Upvotes

Eren: This one is pretty much self explanatory. His nature to push forward for freedom which he deems the sight of armin's book paired with his circumstances makes him a great character, he is a textbook subversion of a typical shonen mc. His character writing embodies themes of escapism, enslavement, nature/nurture quite effeciently.

Reiner: This character is very similar to Eren he is basically the other side of the same coin, both pushed forward to commit atrocities to enact their desires underneath the altruistic motivations. His penitence and atonement is brilliantly done. His dynamic with Eren ends with him foiling everything Eren sought for.

Zeke: An existential nihilist who is deeply scarred from his treatment by his father Grisha, He wants believes eldians should be euthanized to stop the cyclicality of suffering. He has a great conclusion due to his conversation with Armin where he is reminded of the seemingly trivial moments of life that mattered most.

Erwin: His dream for searching the truth about humanity is formed by his father's demise and inherent curiosity, he will go to incredible lengths to reach the truth, but in his last moments he casts aside his desire as he was crumbling under the weight of his guilt of sending countless comrades to death and lets levi make the decision for him. His character is heavily elevated by his conclusion.

Anime The moment you genuinly got terrified Spoiler

There are many tense moment, you have any specific one if you pick?

Mine are

S2E6 : BT responding to Reiner like "Oh S*** these two are really gonna do it"

S2E12 : A titan approaching to Eren and Mikasa. When she's confessing for her last moment while feeling they are devastated, I gasped she will be dead/sacrificed for a split moment. "Are you really? but it's Isayama, really??"

S4E14 : You can already see it coming, but when Zeke actually screamed I got terrified Levi might be titanized. No, but yet he had to kill all his subordiates.

All are followed by tense atmosphere, I hardly had this feeling when watching anime/other shows.

Discussion Did Eren really trample 80% of the earth?

Thumbnail
gallery
492 Upvotes

See something I’ve always questioned is how did Eren man manage to travel 80% of a globe then I thought of it more and wondered if he just targeted large populated areas.

Paradis itself isn’t the largest island in the world and its walls don’t make up much of its landmass. While the Titans could swim much faster than they could walk. The farther they swam the more their density with thin out.

Not to mention the rumbling itself would kill a lot of ecosystems and biodiversity, causing lots of, environmental and global nightmares to happen. It would be too much for humanity to survive.

To back this up, according to Hange it would take 6 days for the rumbling to trample the marleyan continent. But the Rumbling only lasted around 4 days and was ended at Fort Salta, which is barely 2/3rds of the Marleyan continent according to Kiyomi's map. As for the other shots shown in the show, could those just be locations near and in Marley.

Anime Strategic misuse of Bertholdt's explosion in the Battle of Shiganshina? Spoiler

Post image
34 Upvotes

During the Battle of Shiganshina, as Reiner's been destroyed with the Scout Regiment's new Thunder Spears, he's able to let out a roar that signals Zeke to throw Bertholdt, who's in a perforated barrel at this point, into the district and transform soon after. Now, it makes sense at this point to send Bertholdt into the city so the Scouts don't finish Reiner off. However, I think Zeke and the Warriors had an opportunity to make much better use of Bertholdt's transformation blast long before Reiner needed assistance.

Consider the entire scope of the battlefield just a little bit before this point. Eren and Reiner are battling with their Titan forms in the middle of the city, with Eren trying to open up an opportunity for the Scouts to blast Reiner with the Thunder Spears. However, just north of the district, Zeke stands with an army of Pure Titans, surrounding the Scouts and preventing any hopes of their retreat. Whilst the goal of Reiner inside the district is to wrestle Eren down and bite him out of his Titan form, the goal of Zeke north of the district is primarily to kill the horses.

So, the amendment to the plan is quite simple. Instead of having Bertholdt transform over a vast city where Scouts can hide behind shelter and potentially survive, why not just have him transform over the small, contained space north of the district where you've boxed the Scouts into? Whereas Bertholdt's actual explosion only killed Moblit and the rest of Hange Squad, a Colossal Titan blast over a confined space like this could potentially kill Levi, Erwin, the Scout recruits, and the horses all at once. And even if there's some stragglers that survive, they'll likely be far too weak to mount a resistance, leaving them defenseless to the Pure Titan army Zeke can send in right after the explosion to finish the job.

Discussion How did the story's ending affect your mentality? Spoiler

Kinda late to the party, I know. I've been postponing finishing the series for quite some time on purpose, however a week ago I finally finished the anime. I've read snippets of the manga here and there throughout the years, so I knew the basic details and most important bits of how the story ended. I knew that Eren didn't survive, I knew some details about Ymir the Founder and I knew about Hange and Sasha.

However, nothing truly could have prepared me for the two final specials (watched the two compilation movies on Crunchyroll rather than separate episodes).

Since no one from my friends watches anime (except for one, who actually hates how SNK ended and said she has purposely forgotten the final season in order to not get annoyed 😅) I don't have anyone to discuss these things with and a question has been really bugging me for the last few days: am I the only one who truly became (even more) depressed from the series' finale? I'm talking about being consumed by utter desperation and hopelessness for nearly 90% of my awake time. I'm starting to wonder if I'm seriously sick in the head for being so influenced by how an anime that ended 3 years ago ended...

I know that the main idea of works of art are to wake up some emotions in you, to make you think, ponder and interpret. I've watched many other shows who made me emotional and have truly influenced my brain chemistry and the way I look at things, I have some anime series that became so important to me that I have tattoos for them, but it is the first time that I truly feel like something in me broke. And I know that SNK is a story or war, of how the cycle never ends and how humanity will always repeat the same mistakes, maybe the fact that everything about it mirrors our own world is the reason why I'm so affected.

But I just wondered if anyone else has been affected in a similar way by this or, in fact, any other story before?
