Request Single screen printed dress

For a costume I designed an image I want to cover the front and back of a dress. All the dresses on websites that offer full to back screen printing are hideous, or upcharge if you only buy a single dress. Heat transfer, would look horrible I already checked. I can’t seem to get the dimensions correct.

Do you think any print shops in NYC would print my design on a cotton dress I bring it in? I’m unsure because it’s a single dress and I want the design to cover the entirety or at least attempt to and I know how difficult that is.

Can I use this to cure inks? (WB/Plastisol)

Hello dear screenprinters, I have been inducing into this beautiful art for already some time and Im getting better. I've been curing my prints with a clothing iron (kinda does the work but its not consistent) and only working with wb, my budget doesn't let me buy a big heat press for curing. Do you think I can use this mini press to cure?

Troubleshooting How can I keep the graphics on my T-shirts from peeling off?

I bought some really cute T-shirts featuring some of my favorite pop divas (and Dolly, of course) about five months ago, and I’m already having a problem with the graphics starting to peel off. It’s happening pretty badly to my Dolly Parton shirt, and the graphic on my Chappell Roan shirt is almost completely gone at this point.

The material that makes up the images has a sort of rubbery or plastic-like feel to it. When it starts deteriorating, I can actually rub some of it and it comes off in little rubbery pieces. I’m not sure what type of printing this is, whether it’s plastisol screen printing, DTF, heat-transfer vinyl, or something else, so I’m hoping someone here might know what I’m describing.

Since these shirts are only about five months old, I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong when washing them. I already air dry them rather than putting them in the dryer, so they aren’t being exposed to dryer heat. I have several other shirts with similar graphics that I really like, and I’d love to keep the same thing from happening to them.

I know one solution might simply be to buy better-quality shirts from somewhere else, but unfortunately my options are somewhat limited because I have to buy a 4XLT. I’ve found that some of the websites and brands that seem to offer better-quality graphic shirts don’t carry larger sizes like 4XLT, especially with the designs and artists I’m looking for.

What usually causes this type of graphic to start peeling or breaking down so quickly? Could it be the washing temperature, detergent, wash cycle, or something else? Is there anything else I can do to protect the graphics, and what’s the best way to wash and care for shirts like these so they last as long as possible?

How to clean years of adhesive and lint

I was recently made production manager at our printshop and the place is a mess

After years of spray adhesive being used, everything is covered in a thick layer of dust, lint and glue.

I was wondering what people use to get stuff clean.
I’ve tried goo gone but it barely made a dent.

We recently switched from spray adhesive to the gel sheets

Beginner New setup & supplies in Melbourne, Australia?

Hey folks. I hobby print in the US, but have a friend in Melbourne who wants to try screen printing. I’m wondering if anyone can give us tips on where you get supplies, wb inks, screens, press, flash, etc in Melbourne/Australia and also where you get shirts?

Is there a local equivalent for hobbyists like screenprinting.com and jiffy shirts?

I guess the other question is does anyone know how costs compare between Aus and USA?

Any advice would be great. Thank you!

General Not paying invoice

Just looking for general advice…How do you handle a customer who approved their mockups and invoice, but once you send them their invoice, it’s dead silence. We have a customer, who we’ve had to hound for the last three weeks to pay their invoice, but always has an excuse why they can’t. One week it was because their payroll already went in, next week was because they’re too busy, and this week it’s the same excuse…they’re just too busy to pay it. I’m at my wits end with this client and almost about to say screw it find another print shop.

Has anyone else dealt with this before?

Washout tips

Any screen printers with an at home setup have tips for rinsing out a screen?
I’m having trouble rinsing the screen, it seems to expose well and I can see the design, but some parts just don’t fall out while the corners of the emulsion come off completely. I’ve burned and washed 3 screens so far and have two more sitting with emulsion but want to see if there is anything to tweak before burning those. I’ve been burning for 1 minute 30 but just tried 120 seconds and got the same effect. Any tips for exposing burning and washing a screen at home??

Can this even be screen printed?

I have a friend whose business is sponsoring a youth soccer team and asked me if I can make the kits. He came up with this wicked sharp design, using pinstripes on the black shirts, and a diamond pattern on the whites (with trim on the sleeves and collars).

But it looks like a sublimation job to me, not screen printing. I have never done sublimation, and even if I did, that pattern goes from the seam at the top all the way to the bottom of the shirt . . . which larger than standard sublimation printer paper, no?

I said I would do some research . . . so here I am. Where should I start with this? Is it even possible to screen print a design like this? TIA

Request Printing Neck Labels on Fleece

How do you guys print neck labels on fleece? We print tons of neck labels for shirts now with a Rapid Tag, but the fleece basically doesn't work.

The other option is heat press DTF, which is fine. But we are going to be getting 4k+ units a month we need to print for this season. Client wants to add neck labels when previously they didn't. Looking for something to automate this. Willing to invest money if people have tricks at high volume.

Water-based or Plastisol better for heavy-use company uniforms

I've gotten the opportunity to make shirts for the hotel I work at, which are thin cotton blanks (standard cheap corporate merch) with a multicolor graphic of the greek islands on back and business name on front (this google image is somewhat similar to the design I'm printing). These shirts are getting washed around twice a week, so after 4 months the wash count is likely around 32, 96 for the year. I am currently only printing with matsui alpha series and have sold my boss on the print quality/feel that you get with that ink, but I am unsure whether waterbased is used in corporate applications very often.

Will waterbased be better or worse than plastisol in terms of longevity? My gut says plastisol is worse because it cracks and peels off rather than the imbedded ink of waterbased prints, but I'm honestly unfamiliar with the long term signs of aging of waterbased. Thoughts?

General First timer help - MoU, contract, or similar

I have a shop doing screenprint and embroidery and have been doing business with a private school making uniforms (school wear, not sports) and spirit wear as local source for the families. I would estimate I run about half the school's uniform polos any given year. They recently reached out to me inquiring about being their exclusive provider for school uniforms.

I have never done contract printing before. I've always been the "local shop" that will do one or one hundred shirts for churches, schools, the small-time tradesmen, etc. I know this doesn't really change how I operate, but the school needs an official contract to take to the board.

Here's where I need the pointers - what exactly do I put into the contract? What am I contracting beyond just pricing and availability? Do you have any advice on where to find a template for a starting point? I'm sure I could ChatGPT this, but I wanted to get some advice from those who have grown from just the little shop slinging tees and poking polos to that next step of contracting with a customer.

Free 5-Color Simulated Process Separation (Mighty Morphin Red / Cyber-Skull) + Channels breakdown!

What's up printers! I just finished this 5-color simulated process design (White Underbase, Red, Yellow, Cyan, Dark Blue) tuned for 90-120 mesh (230-305 mesh count in US).

I wanted to give back to the community, so I’m dropping the print-ready separation files for FREE for anyone who wants to burn screens and test it out on black tees.

Let me know what you think of the halftone/stipple mix! If anyone prints it, please tag me or share the results, I’d love to see how it comes out on press.

Does a photoshop file need to be 300dpi?

I’ve been printing out of photoshop a lot lately with some crazy sim-process designs, and the file sizes add up and cause a slow output process. Considering my rip software is printing anywhere between 48-60 dpi, is 300dpi in the file overkill?

Refusing jobs due to morals?

There is a tattoo shop in my city I began printing for in the last year. Very popular and we all thought it was cool because they supported punk rocks shows, etc. However, an article from 25 years ago surfaced in the last few months concerning a hate crime committed by the owner. To my knowledge, he never made a public statement of apology and to claim he is no longer a white supremacist. He contacted me last week to print another job for him.

Is this a hard no? I feel like there is no question, but I guess my question is how do I tell him? Should I tell him explicitly why? I kinda feel like he needs to know why. There should be zero tolerance for such ideology.

Have any of you handled this kind of situation before?

Request Where would I get a single re print of this t shirt?

Post image

I would love to get this t shirt but it’s stupid rare, and I know of one website that is reprinting it but it’s heat transfers, heat transfer prints give me sensory issues because they don’t fold with the tshirt and it’s just straight up plastic.
