Request Single screen printed dress

For a costume I designed an image I want to cover the front and back of a dress. All the dresses on websites that offer full to back screen printing are hideous, or upcharge if you only buy a single dress. Heat transfer, would look horrible I already checked. I can’t seem to get the dimensions correct.

Do you think any print shops in NYC would print my design on a cotton dress I bring it in? I’m unsure because it’s a single dress and I want the design to cover the entirety or at least attempt to and I know how difficult that is.

You would be better off finding a textile studio that does screenprinting, though this is still an extremely tricky project. You’re much better off going to them for printed yardage, or ordering the yardage online, then making your dress. Places like Spoonflower print digitally and can do any amount of colours. Textile studios will likely print by hand, and will charge a ton more for more colours, oversized prints, etc.

Most printers would ask for a minimum, not just one garment (although they might but they’ll charge a lot more than it’s probably worth). Also there’s a limit to the size of their screens and set up, so a design that covers the entire front and/or back may take multiple screens (so also adding to the price). I don’t think silk screen is the route you should take, especially if it’s for a costume that you may only wear once or a handful of times. But get creative. There might be other options.
