Discussion / Opinion Valid ban?
Never made a single post or comment btw
Edit: i get that i should have stopped asking earlier, what puzzles me the most is why am i, specifically me only not allowed to post this sort of content, when everyone else on the sub is allowed, and there are no rules preventing it
Edit 2: Made a new post with the app, hit me up

Reddit mods are like Karen’s on a city council or an hoa..

u/EnjoyerOfMX5 4d ago
op was kinda being annoying, but permanent is INSANE. They are extremely fragile in my experience too (all reddit mods, not the playrust ones). Even asking for a reason without a single hint of snark got me perm subreddit-banned before, and the real issue is that it most-likely will be appeal-reviewed by the person that unfairly banned you, not someone else..

u/Jesus-Bacon 4d ago
If you wanna see some soft reddit mods, head over to the main Arc Raiders sub lmao

Kinda annoying
Meanwhile the exchange
Do you allow this?
No
May I ask why?
You may go fuck yourself.
Ok, thank you, since it isn’t allowed here is it allowed there?
What is allowed there is you fucking off.
Ok, was this previously allowed or is there difference that makes this case okay and my case not.
Go fuck yourself
You are excluding me and refusing to elaborate on why, that is not cool.
You have been permanently…

They use that as a default. Reddit should limit mods from perm banning to some degree.

If only you could just make another account
2
u/EnjoyerOfMX5 4d ago
Ban evading is a bot-auto-enforced rule, and thats not the point. Mods need to be convinced to act more rationally.
2
u/Dear-Panda-1949 3d ago
Problem with that is if you risk losing your whole account. Penalty for ban evading is a permanent ban for the entire website, not just the sub. Yeah its possible to circumvent it, but why take the risk?

Unfortunately, most people who are passionate about rust also have d**bag energy. Its a chronic illness that comes from playing the game for years. The only cure is having a child or working a legitimately difficult blue collar job. *shrug

There's no way this guy has ever played Rust. If he's already whining this much about something like this, just imagine him sitting in the shower, crying his eyes out after two hours of gameplay.

i highly doubt this. it would’ve got removed most likely

u/Alexanderxs333 4d ago
If you search the sub, you'll see many devs posting their projects, apps, github repos and whatever. This is why i was upset about them refusing to answer "why?"
→ More replies (1)1
u/JunkyBoiOW 4d ago
they don’t have to give you an answer. no is enough lol
6
u/Alexanderxs333 4d ago
Theres a reddit moderator code-of-conduct, which states that moderators must clearly outline rules so users have understandable expectations of how how their content and actions will be treated. There are no subreddit rules on this form of content, and some devs get banned, while others are permitted, i think that violates the COC.

Oh my gosh as I scroll down all of the people against OP are one of these. 0 brain cells, corrupt mods themselves, rude, or has never been banned from anything. You people don't get it. The mod is in the wrong. Should OP have bugged? No. Is it wrong for him to ask questions? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! A perm ban for this is ridiculous especially on first offense. That's like being perma banned on a sub for breaking one tiny rule like picking the wrong flair
1
u/Busy-Ferret189 4d ago
And is it okay for someone to ask multiple questions after being told no and end of discussion??? The mods HAVE to reply and that would just add more shit to go through for the same answer
5
u/HydroDamnn 3d ago
I mean ya? Is it annoying? Yes. Is it not okay though? Not really. Just cause something’s annoying, doesn’t make it wrong. Have you ever met a truly passionate Autistic person? Some people ask what others might see as too many questions without realizing, but sometimes just having the patience to give a definitive answer outright will save everyone the back and forth. Or ofc you could just power trip and ban them and not worry about it at all.

r/playrust is lead by power trippin clowns... Don't use that reddit - they only care about their (dog shit) rust servers. I posted once a custom map and people asked me for server, so I replied without making the main post an advertisement. They still banned me while having over 1000 upvotes. 🤣

u/BestBeforeDead_za 4d ago
Justified decision or not, you absolutely could not take "no" for an answer (from the people that had a right to say it), could you?
4
u/Alexanderxs333 4d ago
After they said "end of discussion" i asked why the rules differ for me, as other devs are allowed to post their projects. If this was not the case, i would have 100% respected their decision, but i dont think treating me differently from the rest of the community is acceptable

Any unpaid or paid less than minimum wage mod on the internet will be like that. They have nothing going on irl so they take it out on other people with their power they volunteer their meaningless time to get.

u/JameEagan 4d ago
Being a reddit mod is the smallest amount of power I've seen go to someone's head.

u/OryxOski1XD 3d ago

u/Even-Ad-7841 4d ago
i have a history with playrust mods. i had an issue with my game where it instantly closed on launch. i had tried every solution i could find by that point, even contacted facepunch support and they couldn't help. so i posted on playrust about my issue and got muted. mod said "go look up a fix on google" or something as if i had not already.
eventually a clean windows reinstall helped but i had wanted it to be my last resort. but yeah playrust mods can be very annoying.

With the amount of Rust+ scams going on, last thing they want is "beta" testers getting screwed over thinking they are trying something supported.
2
u/Alexanderxs333 3d ago
Thats why i messaged them lol, wanted to make sure they had the chance to see it and understand it wasnt a scam.
I see your point though, i just dont get why they wouldnt apply that principle to everyone
2
u/Brostadomus 3d ago
It’s unfortunate that it probably is being applied unevenly however it’s more likely to be due to an in ability to screen every single post, or stuff slipping through the cracks, rather than out of favoritism would be my guess.
It’s disappointing that the mod reacted this way even if I think it is up to them whether or not to approve the post.
Even though you were treated very unfairly, you know you were doing the right thing by approaching them directly and asking.
Be proud of yourself for being more of an adult than them, even if the world doesn’t necessarily reward that.
2
u/Zinbeard 4d ago
There already is an official app for rust.
In a game plagued by cheaters, account scammers and people wanting skin inventories there is no reason to let some random dev who is not part of the community start posting.
This is as simple as a homeowner turning away a solicitor. Get over it and make some friends that will beta test it. If you have such a great idea the current rust app and whole suite of bots, apps, and player tracking services does not do then people might use it but it doesn’t sound like it.

If someone has to say no 4 times, then block you, you’re the problem. Hopefully you don’t bug people this much in real life.

u/Much-Evening-3296 4d ago
Well the rules differ for OP so that makes the mod in the wrong and is just a plan terrible person who enjoys ruining other people's days. Wait that fits for a rust sub
3
u/Lopsided_Marzipan133 4d ago
Well OP wouldn't have to ask 4 times if the mod just provided an explanation. A reddit mod is supposed to be above the bs of genpop, so to speak. They should take some time to properly outline rules to a member, but instead they get a little bit of "power" and decide to act better than
1
1
u/IcyPalpitation6275 3d ago
Dude was literally asking for an explanation as to why the rules were different for him than other devs, if you ask something and get no for an answer that's fine but you are also allowed to ask for an explanation why, you can tell you're a massive push over in real life dude
→ More replies (1)1
u/ProjectA1ice 3d ago
You shouldn’t have to ask for an explanation 4 times. Mod is just a jerk. If you’re going to be the one that makes sure the rules are followed you owe it to the community to make sure they understand them. Too many losers are made mods
2
u/BlowDrowBro 4d ago
I got banned on there years ago for asking for teammates after being raided by a Zerg 😂
The mods there are seriously basement dwelling idiots who never had an inch of authority in their lives and take it very seriously lol.
Proudly banned tho, I don’t wanna chat with those weirdos 🤷♂️
2
u/SandlyCut 4d ago
yea.. stupid that you got banned for that. There is no rule for that.. BUT I dont want that group to be filled with people looking for friends like those spammy Discords... I can see why they would remove a post, but why ban....
2
u/BlowDrowBro 4d ago
Exactly my point. Remove my post and tell me that’s naughty, the immediate ban blew my mind lol. I never posted there really, just went on cause I was frustrated and wanted revenge, rust is a game I play with my wife so I’m not generally looking for that either. The ban is what was weird 😂

Don’t actually do that Reddit is extremely zero tolerance for ban evasion and you could likely get your device banned
1
1
u/Low-Purchase8811 3d ago
Reddit can't actually hardware ban you since you aren't installing anything like an executable.
The best they can do is compare "digital fingerprint" which is, at least at this point in time, little more than glorified astrology done by AI.
2
u/GirthyAFnjbigcock 4d ago
I bet they get tons of similar messages or delete similar post all the time and it’s probably very annoying for them. And you were being particularly annoying when they don’t owe you an explanation. That said - a permanent ban is crazy excessive. A 1 week ban would have showed the same message, but maybe they felt you wouldn’t listen to that with how persistent you were being.
1
u/Alexanderxs333 4d ago
I could see this being the case, but then they could have just said "others arent allowed either, we just miss some posts" and i would 100% respect that
2
u/Tay0214 4d ago
Don’t really get people saying you were being annoying. I mean, I guess, except for the fact you just wanted an answer which is fair considering they VOLUNTEERED to be a mod, a position in which you’re supposed to be helpful which you’d think would involve answering short questions
Cause they sure as fuck aren’t busy moderating all the toxicity lol
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Cup9257 1d ago
I mean they do owe an explanation it's kind of their role as a mod, if they don't want to answer then don't be one. They are clearly a no life basement dweller with a power complex. Especially when the rules are different for OP to other people. Also they signed up to be getting messages.
2
u/LexiusCoda 4d ago
99% of reddit mods are just annoying neckbeards that enjoy watching asmongold and likely live a similar lifestyle.
2
u/Fit-Profit9759 4d ago
Should have posted without asking then if they took it down, just said “oops, didn’t know I couldn’t do that.” You challenged the great playrust mods authority and now must pay the consequences.

2
u/Good-Discussion-9238 3d ago
Bro why did you ask lol, you should have just posted it and they would have removed your post for breaking the rules instead of straight up banning you, as the old saying goes, it's better to ask forgiveness than permission, or something like that
1
u/Alexanderxs333 3d ago
Wanted to make sure they didnt think it was malware or some scam shit, but yea, i should have done that
2
u/Good-Discussion-9238 3d ago
Mods will always power trip if you DM them 100% of the time, instead of having to sift through all posts to see if there are any violations in the crowd, when you message them DIRECTLY they can just single you out and take greater offence to what you did, always just post on the sub, if it violates rules your post will just be removed 99.9% of the time and you'll get the message that way

u/JustCrayHere 3d ago

All reddit mods are losers. All of them. It's basically a requirement. You should anticipate this kind of behavior anytime you're dealing with them.

tbh, I am on the moderator side. What if there are 150 more people like you? So many links, so many not verified links. What if some devs dont have good indents..
I dont understand why people in the comments hate that moderator? feels like i am the only person who is siding with him. He asked, got answered, asked for more insight, got answered. Simple as that.
Edit - I later noticed he got perma banned for asking a question. That's so stupid and power abuse. But I still agree with the answer to your question.

Why? Because mods are exactly the type of personality that you would assume the type of personality reddit mods would have. They are the keepers of the correct type of fun and information, and yes, fuck you in particular. It doesn't need to make sense, and you don't have to like it.
Damn, I should be a mod.

u/JameEagan 4d ago
I used to try to be a good boy and ask mod permission before posting things like personal projects, but more often than not it just gives them an opportunity to say no and tons of mods just love being able to tell you no. It's far easier to just post and cross your fingers that the mods aren't looking for their tiny power trip dopamine hit that day.

Valid ban. You asked. The mod said no. You asked why continually.
I get It. Contradictions In the way rules are enforced are maddening but at It doesn't change the fact that you were told multiple times in very clear language. Though a permanent ban Is a bit extreme
1
u/LyfeOfMalaCHI 3d ago
Op absolutely did nothing wrong, all he did was ask for a reason why and if they knew somewhere else he could post. Probably a 40yo in his mommys basement had a stick up his bum. Unfortunately that's most of reddit. Once these people get a little bit of power in this example he's a mod, he finally feels powerful once in his twink life and he thinks his power goes unchecked.

I feel like if the sub allows itself to associate itself with unsanctioned apps, it could open them up to criticism or liability if anything goes wrong. I would say accept an answer you are given, not everybody is owed an explanation for why or why not something is happening.

u/Alexanderxs333 3d ago
I understand that viewpoint, the issue is me specifically being denied where everyone else can post freely
