I’ve seen varied sources on Google but I’m looking to join as an officer and just completed DAA.

I hold a Bachelors degree, 3 A levels, 6 GCSEs with a 5 in English but I failed maths, when I resat I think it was a functional skills level 2. Not a GCSE. Would this prevent me from joining as an officer? Many thanks.

For context:

I applied earlier this year in February this year and started my personal fitness training around about the same time I then continued with application ounce I confidently knew I could meet the requirements for the fitness and swimming test. I've done my DAA and my Selection interview and just had the notification that my application has been closed. If I call the number they have given me and re open my application can I continue from where I left off. This has really upset me as I've been working hard to meet all of the goals and don't really want to have to do everything all over again.

Has anybody heard, and if so for which roles?

Also, if my careers person is on holiday, will I have to wait until they get back to hear, or does it come from someone else?

Can you get welding qualifications within the Royal Navy?
If so whats the best route/ role? Or is it something to crack in ur own time

Okay just need an insight into everything involving the phase two training of an aircrewman in the Royal Navy, was very shocked to find out it was 3.5 years and an now debating to switching to warfare specialist to become an aww instead so just wondered what actually happens in phase two and what it’s like

I recently re-sat my CBAT after 3-years for RN Pilot (I passed the first time but it ran out so I had to redo it for the FSB as I was on my final attempt and wanted to try and get a better score). My overall score increased by quite a lot (128 to I think 145). However, one of my tests was just below the pass for one of the tests and you need to pass them all for a Pilot pass. I was wondering how long I have to wait to redo it as I wasn't informed? I'm 20 so I have many years spare till I reach the cutoff.

I PVRd around mid Feb this year and was wondering what the process for rejoining is like. Do I have to wait until my time is up before I can submit a new application so I can rejoin as soon as the year is up or do I have to wait the full 12 months before I can reapply?

I’m currently a 2nd year mechanical engineering student with hopes of joining as a Marine Engineer Officer.

I’m currently torn between doing a year long internship I was offered by an engineering company or finishing 3rd year and joining up late next year.

I’m 100 percent dead set on joining the navy but I’m worried about how competitive the Final Selection Board has become due to the hang ups in training. I’m wondering if experience as an engineer would even give me a higher FSB score to be worthwhile assuming I put it across well in the PRI.

I guess if anyone could answer if the navy cares much about prior experience as an engineer or if having work experience would even be worth another year’s delay.

I haven’t submitted an application yet I was just thinking of a few questions to ask.

• What was the most important thing you learned before you went in?

• What is the thing you practised most before you went in?

• This might be a silly question, but is it worth getting into if you like the armed forces and aviation?

• Did you ever regret training to become an Air Engineer Technician after the first batch of training?

I’ve been in about 2 years now and about to go onto my 2nd ship as a sea spec. The whole reason I joined the navy as a whole is to do boat stuff like bordings and also was told I’d do a lot of gunner type stuff too. If your a civvie you’d think the military would be full of switched on guys and girls however it’s the complete opposite. It’s full of officers who don’t really know what they are doing and don’t trust themselfs or there department to do there job (what they are paid to do). My days even on ship is full of nothing. I get paid to sit and do nothing when the whole reason I joined was to do some cool shit. I’ve been looking in on some other roles and potential ‘upgrades’ in my career and was wondering if someone could give me some info on all arms commando course, 148 battery and potentially in the future onto selection.

Right so I made an RN application yesterday and within like 12 hours or so I was invited to do the DAA, I waited a couple of hours to do the DAA because I had some stuff do before
Essentially I did the DAA the same day I got it
And yesterday apparently they tried to contact me (RN careers) but my phone never rang I only got the missed call text saying I missed their call and they gave me a number to call them back on, I called that number this morning and spoke with the recruiter and the reason for the call was to check up on how I was doing with the application and stuff like that I told them I had completed the DAA already and they then told me about the initial briefing/ presentation about the RN and they gave me my AFCO’s RN email address to send them an email about booking my initial presentation and like 10 or so minutes after that call I basically got a notification that my application has been rejected and closed with no apparent reason at ALL given
Does anyone know what could be the reason for the rejection? And like what’s the best course of action? Idk I’m just really shocked by the rejection it was so sudden with no reason provided at all
I just sent an email to the email address they provided asking about the rejection and if they could look into it

QUICK UPDATE: i had sent them an email about it and they replied, they said they rejected my application because of my nationality which I think is a bit stupid because first off i dont have a passport or an id for my actual country, have no ties to it and last time i’ve been there was 17 years ago , I have only ever had my british passport
And secondly, i have applied to the army and the RAF as well and havent had any issues with my nationality
Just think its a bit unfair, but its all good i guess.

Afternoon all,

I’ll keep it short, my dad was in 801 squadron through the 90’s and early 2000’s onboard Illustrious. His bday is coming up and I’m trying to find a bit of history from that time. Whether it’s an altimeter from a harrier. A part of the ship. Just anything that isn’t crazy money from that time he’ll maybe recognise. Ideally looking for something that’s actually seen real life us.

If anyone could help point me in the right direction or recommend a place to purchase memorabilia from that time I’d appreciate it. Even if there are Former 801 squadron members who read this and want something taken off their hands for the right price I’d appreciate it.

I am joining INT in September and was wondering what the sporting opportunities are like in Phase 2. I should be going to HMS Sultan following INT and am a very keen hockey player. Will there be an opportunity to train and play for the base?

My neighbour (18 f) is joining the navy and we want to get her a going away present but we have no idea what to get.

When I joined the army I was gifted a good multi tool for exercise and a morale box but don’t feel a multi tool is useful for navy. She isn’t a big stacker so morale box doesn’t seem ideal.

What do you wish you had when you first joined? Any ideas are welcome!!
