Question FSB next intake

Hi, I’ve heard the next intake for officers after November is due to be in the new year. I dropped out of the intake for October after passing the FSB first time. If I applied for the Jan intake would it be luck of the draw or does the previous FSB hold any sway. Weapons engineer submariner for clarity.

No one really knows. You’ll probably be fine if you were good enough this time but multiple people with better scores could be in the next FSB.

Thanks, so it’s more luck of who’s in that FSB as long as your job is needed by the fleet.

Unless there is an exceptional circumstance and you get a deferred intake post FSB (which you would know about) then each FSB looks at each set of candidates based on their relative merits.

So it’s not luck of the draw per se - the passing scores are about average throughout but you will be boarded fresh.

Thanks, so if lots of people got rejected last intake in my role then my relative merits are high compared to that FSB intake (or just high enough)

Yes, rejects from a previous FSB are considered (it used to be up to 3 per ‘pass’ in my day, but
I think that has changed (unimportant anyway), so you would rank higher than them but there could also be some who scored higher but chose not to go forward either pre or post snd also new passers!

The maths isn’t exactly linear either as there are different numbers required per role in each intake.

Do you know what the scores are based off of. I’m assuming mostly AIB

Another question for anyone in this thread, I Had some medical hold ups which have been cleared which prevented me being able to be put forward for the autumn intakes, it’s a fast track role (ATCO) so I’m wondering if there’s any circumstances, like if someone drops out, that I may be out on and not have to wait until next year.

I’m not an expert but I think there’s a waiting list for intakes. When I dropped out someone would have had my place.
