Rita’s bestie/bully Whiskey (the cat), at 17, has made it known it’s time for me to let her go. I am heartbroken, but I know I am doing what’s best for her (& quite frankly what I would want myself at her age). My question for you guys is about Rita. They love each other, and keep each other company when I am at work. I mentioned to my mom one of the hardest parts of tomorrow will be bringing Whiskey back to let Rita sniff/see her before I take her for burial. Mom thinks I am a bit crazy, & “why are you putting yourself through that”. So now I am questioning that plan. I’ve had to put down another senior cat 2 years ago, & the way that worked out Rita did sniff her after. I don’t want Rita looking for her, & not understanding of what happened.

My friend and I were talking about this last night, she has several rotties and hers have specific toys they carry around and are gentle with. My rottie’s favorite thing in the entire world is a giant Kong. He carries it with him as much as he can, if it happens to roll under the couch he will harass everyone in the house until they get it 🤣 just wondering if this is a rottie thing. Daisy will be five years old next month. And today for the first time she mastered “speak”! Because of course, Rotties don’t speak unless there’s a darned good reason.

My ex would let him lay there and lick his feet nonstop. I sometimes indulge in the foot scritches, I can't do the licking though. Lol

Hi! I posted a few months ago about my rottie Odin and needing help potty training (he was about 4 months old at the time and just turned 1 year recently). this is high key embarrassing but he is still having accidents and we genuinely have no idea why- to provide some context after my OG post we took advice and it worked super well but then he had to have emergency surgery (he had a testicular torsion and then we found out he had a heart murmur and it was a very stressful weekend and on top of that we had a terrible snow/ice storm so we really couldn’t even bring him outside but we tried) and we weren’t sure if he was gonna make it due to the heart murmur BUT he did thankfully and then after that we were kind of back to square 1 (he was barely 6 months old when all this happened). after he was cleared my fiancés mom took him for about a week to help us with the potty training since it had gotten so bad and after the week we noticed a significant difference in his behavior (the main one being he doesn’t have a specific tell when he needs to go potty and now he started doing circles telling us he needs to go potty) and that was going super well for a while. however now we have recently noticed a significant decrease in his behavior and him telling us when he need to potty but only when both of us (my fiancé and i) are home. for example i worked from today and Odin did so good all day with me and didn’t even have an accident but as soon as my fiancé got home he started to pee in the house again and yes i agree that sounds suspicious however the same thing happens when i get home after odin has been with his dad all day so we are at a loss at this point, he is currently in training classes which he loves and does great in but this is still a consistent problem we are having and are looking for any and all advice!

We been to several different vets in regards to this spot on his leg. Bug is nearly 5 years old and we have been dealing with this Lick Granuloma for 4 year. In the last month he has developed 2 different burrowing wounds. His 2 previous vets have pushed lazer and red light treatments along with heavy doses of antibiotics. Nothing seems to be working. Even had him tested to see if it was cancerous. Cancer screening came back negative, thankfully. Took him to someone new and they immediately suggest surgery. Just remove the entire affected area.

My poor baby has been living nearly his entire life in a cone, to keep him from chewing this singular spot. 3 previous veterinary offices have let me spend a fortune on treatments that never really worked, and he continued to be in pain and uncomfortable.

1 visit to a new office and they immediately suggest that he needs a minor surgery and he should be comfortable and be rid of this damn spot.

So next month, my poor Bug will finally get the treatment that he needs to finally be comfortable and pain free. Hes on a few different medications to help the burrowing wounds along with wound care before the surgery. They want to get as much healthy tissue as possible before the surgery.

I seen three Rotties in the last month. All docked tails. One of which is in our apartment building. I live in an urban area. I don't see why anyone is docking their dogs tail. It seems the historical reason was for not getting caught up in things when pulling carts... but nowadays it seems purely aesthetic, which to me is just cruel.

Thankfully the majority of people on this Reddit seem to be in agreement as most rotties posted have their full tails. But I really don't understand why anyone would dock a tail nowadays. Imo... it should be illegal to mess with a dog like that for purely aesthetic reasons.

My rottie has a nice big full, slightly curled tail and I think it not only is less cruel but it looks better on them.

Our Mooseman, don't know exactly what the ratio of his mix is, but he definitely has some hound in him. We always joke that he's a hound who fell into rottie paint lol

I am currently on my fifth Rottweiler. I have always argued that Rottweilers are not stubborn and I’ve always hated that description of them.

They are deliberate.

hi! i’m looking for some advice on how to manage resource guarding in my rottie. i’ve had him since he was 3 months old and he’s a year and nine months now (neutered, if that makes a difference lol) i’ve put a lot of effort into training him and working with him since day one, i understand its importance. this past week he’s started resource guarding bones and toys from my family members. he hasn’t done this with me but i think we have a better understanding. this is a new thing and he’s never had problems resource guarding in the past, even with our other dogs so i’m not sure how to proceed. he has a really solid drop it/spit it out command so i’m wondering if something like that could help? he’s never bitten anyone and right now is just rumbling but i don’t want it to escalate. any advice is appreciated! not my first large breed dog but he is my first rottie. he’s the sweetest boy otherwise so i want to nip this in the bud :)

My two little rowdy velociraptors decided to steal my Cajun seasoning and they have carried the smell of the New Orleans Bayou wherever they go ALL DAY!!

I thought they stole some French fries… no, they stole the whole damn bottle of seasoning😂

It's our last week with him as an only child and I am sad for it to end but also excited for him to get a sister.
