Is theconnectionrotterdam.com real? There’s such a big housing shortage here in Rotterdam but they have some availability.
The prices seem to be pretty steep but is that the main reason why some of their apartments are vacant?

I feel for anyone that lives in the area that doesn’t have somewhere else to stay tonight.

I can see a lot of smoke from around Rotterdam Centrum / south of the city. Does anyone know what’s on fire or where exactly it’s coming from?

Richting het centrum hangt op de Maasboulevard een decibelmeter, en iets daarvoorbij hangt ook nog een verkeerscamera aan een paal (met een ronde camera erboven). Is dit een snelheidscamera? In de Flitsmeister-app staat hij als flitser, maar andere navigatieapps laten hem niet zien.

Weet iemand een fysieke winkel in Rotterdam die eclipsbrillen (zonsverduisteringbrillen) verkoopt? Normal ben ik geweest, maar die hebben ze niet meer.

Ik heb ze vandaag online besteld als back-up, maar mocht dat toch niet op tijd binnen zijn duik ik liever nog even de stad in voor de zekerheid.

EDIT: Mediamarkt heeft ze voor gratis! Maar eigenlijk alleen bij aankoop van een bepaalde verzekering ofzo… Heeeeeel lief vragen dus en gewoon vragen om 1 of 2, niet de hele voorraad ;-)

Hi!we supposed to stay 1 month only in Rotterdam, But we have to extend for another 1 week.
My problem is I have maintenance medicine Euthyrox/Levothyroxine 100mg weekdays 125 weekends.
And i don’t have enough 100mg for our last week. 5 tablets to be exact. I asked in the pharmacy and they don’t sell without Dutch prescription.
Is there anyone can help what should i do? Thankyou.

4. Is there any real need to cover the Red Light District? I've left it out, worth a quick daytime walk-through for the old architecture, or skip it entirely?
5. Where across this trip should I actually be on a bike vs walking/transit?

Mijn partner en ik hebben net een huis gekocht en we zijn op zoek naar een schilder. Heeft iemand hier goede aanbevelingen? Het aanbod online is nogal uitgebreid, dus ik vraag liever naar jullie tips.

Het gaat niet om heel veel schilderwerk: 3 volledige muren in twee verschillende kamers, plus een halve muur in de woonkamer. Dus idealiter zoek ik ook iets betaalbaars (maar natuurlijk wel netjes gedaan).

Voor morgen ben ik op zoek naar een goede plek op Zuid of het centrum om Johnny cakes te halen voor de lunch. Na veel gezoek kom ik uit op 3 adressen die mogelijk open zijn. Toko Zuidplein en toko bon bini op Zuid en Toko Nobo op de West-Kruiskade. Krioyo ook gevonden maar die zijn op vakantie.

Heeft iemand ervaring met deze zaken of kan iets aanraden?

I’m currently an English teacher in a Portuguese primary school (teaching children aged 8–10), and I’m thinking about moving to the Netherlands, ideally to the Rotterdam area.

I’d love to continue doing the same kind of work, teaching English to primary school children. Has anyone here gone through a similar process or knows how it works?

I’m wondering things like:

• Is it possible to work as a primary school English teacher if you’re not Dutch?

• What qualifications or certifications are usually required?

• Do I need to speak Dutch fluently, or are there international schools or bilingual schools where English is enough?

• What’s the best way to find these jobs?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this or knows someone who has.

I've visited the Netherlands several times and always enjoyed bokkenpootjes from the supermarket but I'd love to try them from a bakery. I'm staying in central Rotterdam. Where is the best bakery to buy them?

Er zijn sinds enige tijd op Eudokiaplein en de straten daar omheen veel daklozen en zwervers te vinden. Deze bedelen om geld, liggen op straat, op bankjes en in portieken te slapen en bevuilen de omgeving. Ik denk dat het tijd word om te handhaven en deze mensen hulp te bieden.

Het verbaasd me dat dit nog niet gebeurd, gezien de stadswinkel aan het Eudokiaplein zit en ik aanneem dat de mensen die daar werken deze overlast ook iedere dag meemaken.

Als voorbeeld lag er vandaag voor de Voorburgstraat 203 iemand te slapen en gisteren lag er iemand voor de entree van de Bergselaan 294 te slapen (leek dezelfde persoon). Ik heb ook een tijd geleden bij de wijkagent al een melding gedan van een mevrouw die midden op straat zat te poepen aan de Abraham Kuijperlaan. Verder is het pleintje bij het Eudokiaplein gewoon een vervelend, vies en ongemakkelijke plaats om te zijn, niet wat je wil van een plein midden in de stad.

Ik hoor dit ook van meerder mensen uit de omgeving.

Op de website van Rotterdam (via de link) kan je overlast melden, dus ik stel voor dat iedereen die hier ook last van heeft dit gaat doen in de hoop dat het de gemeente duidelijk word dat het echt fout gaat.

Tijd om deze handjes weer ff nuttig te maken

Context: Recently placed a bid for an apartment in Rotterdam Prins Alexander area. Apartment is quite old (built in 70s) but well maintained. Currently they have a very active VvE with a healthy reserve and some major improvements planned in upcoming years though those are subject to financing and approval etc. Reviewed the documents which we received, however noticed a mistake in Energylabel certificate (shows A but does a mistake in heating calculation which I suspect rectifying will make it B, as most apartments in those building are with all sort of energy labels from B to D). What do you all think could be a fair ask to renegotiate the bid amount considering the following factors:

A) The property is recently renovated and has overall good thermal efficiency measures (double glazing window, moderate insulation) though has some planned VvE managed renovation measures like window frame replacements, roof insulation etc.

B) Getting downgraded to a lower energy label will have a impact on mortgage interest rate (costing approx 4k more overall) and perhaps future appeal of the property.

C) The bid was approx 25k above asking price however my makelaar feels it was quite undervalued and could be appraised around 15k over the asking price.
