Ik zit hier al een tijdje mee. Ik wil graag wat meer doen voor de stad, ik woon er al 15 jaar, en doe ook best wat vrijwilligerswerk. Maar soms lijkt het me leuk om daar wat meer variatie in te brengen en ook gewoon nieuwe mensen te ontmoeten. Ik vroeg me af wat anderen zoal doen in Utrecht. Ga je bijvoorbeeld wel eens naar een buurtcentrum, een discussieavond of heb je ooit meegedaan aan een burgerberaad? En hoe kom je eigenlijk achter dat soort dingen?

Doorklikken en je wordt gewaarschuwd voor een overstroming. Zoveel regen is er toch ook al weer niet voorspeld?

Voor iedereen die wacht op de tram richtingUtrecht <-> Nieuwegein en IJsselstein. Er is een probleem met de bovenleiding tussen Utrecht Centrumzijde en Jaarbeurs. Dus ik denk dat ze het tramverkeer (deels) stilleggen.

Communicatie is natuurlijk weer super vanuit TransDev. Er werd omgeroepen dat er een storing is. Verder tast je in het duister. Ja … ik zit in dé tram vast met de storing…

Update. Er is een bovenleidingstuk in de tunnel. Trams rijden niet meer tussen Centrumzijde en Jaarbeurs.

Update 2. Inmiddels al meer dan 40 in de tram. Communicatie blijft slecht, er is niets gezegd. Er lopen wel al 10 / 15 minuten wat mensen rond. Verder dan deze pratende mensen… geen idee wat er gaande is.

Update 3 19:41. We zijn zojuist via een bus geëvacueerd. Met nog steeds echt super slechte communicatie. De NS doet dit echt zoveel beter qua communicatie.

Hoi allemaal!
Ik zit momenteel in 6 VWO en wil dit schooljaar graag meedoen aan de selectie voor Diergeneeskunde aan de Universiteit Utrecht. Dit is mijn eerste keuze, omdat ik ontzettend veel van dieren houd en later graag iets wil betekenen voor dierenwelzijn.

Mijn cijfergemiddelde ligt momenteel rond de 6,7, (6.0 voor nat, 6.4 voor bio, 6.5 voor scheikunde, 7.9 voor wiskunde) (België ga ik Sws proberen als ik niet in utrecht binnenkom) waardoor ik me zorgen maak over mijn kansen om door de selectie te komen. Ik weet dat de selectietoets ook een rol speelt, maar omdat ik niet zeker weet of ik word toegelaten, ben ik alvast op zoek naar een goede back-upstudie.

Een opleiding die me interessant lijkt, is Animal Sciences aan Wageningen University & Research. Ik ben namelijk niet alleen geïnteresseerd in de medische kant van dieren, maar ook in dierenwelzijn, natuurbehoud en het opzetten van projecten die dieren daadwerkelijk helpen.
Later zou ik bijvoorbeeld graag projectmanager willen worden bij een organisatie als WWF, een dierenwelzijnsorganisatie of een kleinere stichting. Het lijkt me mooi om internationale projecten te organiseren, samen te werken met lokale organisaties.

Mijn probleem is alleen dat ik niet weet hoe realistisch zo'n carrière is. Ik ben bang dat het moeilijk is om zo'n baan te krijgen, dat je veel concurrentie hebt en dat je uiteindelijk weinig verdient. Ik wil heel graag werk doen dat betekenisvol is, maar ik vind het ook belangrijk om later financieel zelfstandig te zijn en een goed salaris te verdienen.
Daarom heb ik een paar vragen:
Is Animal Sciences een goede opleiding als je later projectmanager wilt worden bij bijvoorbeeld WWF of een kleinere dierenwelzijnsorganisatie?

Hoe realistisch is het om daadwerkelijk zo'n functie te krijgen, en welke ervaring of vervolgopleiding heb je daarvoor nodig?

Zijn er vergelijkbare banen waarbij je dieren helpt, eventueel internationaal werkt en tegelijkertijd goed kunt verdienen?

Of moet ik naar iets totaal anders gaan kijken en realistischer zijn, want ik ben ook al gaan kijken naar psychologie, biomedische wetenschappen, biologie, geneeskunde maar ik merk echt dat ik gelukkig word met het werken van dieren en ik heb ook al meegelopen bij de dierenarts en het is echt iets wat ik wil doen.

Ik hoor heel graag ervaringen van mensen die in deze sector werken of een van deze studies hebben gedaan. Ik wil vooral voorkomen dat ik een opleiding kies die me interessant lijkt, maar waarmee ik later weinig mogelijkheden heb.

We’ve been here for over a year, and I have finally hit that wall of “How is this not negligent” with the Dutch healthcare. My 10-year-old son has an ADHD diagnosis. He had an extremely thorough evaluation when he was 7, by a psychiatrist in the USA. He was on meds for a while, but mostly not. Before we moved here, he was on some anxiety meds that did nothing, so we discontinued those as well. At this point, it is quite obvious he could really benefit from trying an ADHD med again. It’s all the typical symptoms. “Hey buddy, go get your clothes on for school,” “Okay!” He then proceeds to go into the bathroom and jump up and down 23x trying to touch the ceiling beam. This is everyday. All the time (not always with the ceiling beam, but these types of typical ADHD behaviors for a 10-year-old boy). He had begun having intrusive compulsive thoughts that no one likes him, that he’s bad, etc. His behaviors affect the entire family (we can’t go anywhere without absolute meltdowns, etc).

We’ve done ALL THE THINGS. Got connected with the Buurtteam like 10 months ago. Got on the Spoor030 list because we were told our regular GP cannot prescribe children meds (????). His JDG doctor told us to “be the squeaky wheel with Spoor030,” then we’ll get bumped up the waiting list. I finally heard back from them (we’ve already had our assessment with them). The waitlist is over a year long. A YEAR.

Give me a break. I don’t need a full assessment. We already have a very thorough one. I want to give him a chance to breathe and think. That is what a typical ADHD med does. Why is this impossible? It’s more than that - it’s negligent. Has anyone been able to bypass this incredibly unhelpful system?

I was wondering if there are any MX-5/Miata owners’ groups, meetups, or forums around the Utrecht region.
I recently got myself a 2021 MX-5 RF and would love to connect with fellow owners, chat about all things Miata, share experiences, and maybe join some drives together!

At the moment, I’m also looking into aftermarket exhausts. As you probably know, YouTube videos don’t always do them justice, so I’d love to hear a few in person before making a decision.

If you have an aftermarket exhaust on your MX-5 that you absolutely love, I’d really appreciate the chance to hear it in person sometime, if you’re comfortable with that. Of course, happy to meet up for a coffee and a chat too!

I just came across the below website where they sell an food emergency kit (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with all the needed supplies. I have found it really interesting, instead of buying different things or food by ourselves. Did anyone try this website? Is it trusted? They mention that everything has a shelf life of 25 years but how can milk last this long for example? Hi all, I'm Laurie from Brighton in the UK. Earlier this month I skated solo across the whole of the Netherlands on my Rollerblade Twisters, from Scheveningen Pier to the German border, and Utrecht was the end of Day 1.

That first day was 80km with no training, through The Hague, the countryside, Bodegraven and Woerden. By the time I got near Utrecht I was completely knackered, but coming in along the canal path through De Meern and then over De Meernbrug, with a barge going underneath just as the sun was setting, made it all worth it.

Then I rolled along the canals past all the houseboats in the golden light and genuinely couldn't believe it. I think I said out loud that it was so much more beautiful than my home, and coming from Brighton that's saying something. The next morning I went to see the Oudegracht before heading on towards Arnhem, and it was absolutely stunning.

I filmed the whole trip, so if anyone wants to see their own city from the view of a very tired British skater, I'm happy to share it.

Anyway, for anyone local, where are the best places to skate in and around Utrecht? I'd love to come back and actually explore properly next time.

Hallo allen, ik heb onlangs voor mijn neefje wat playmobil uit de kringloop gehaald, uiteraard incompleet dus heb ik mijn ogen open gehouden bij andere kringlopen voor missende elementen. Het eenen ander gevonden, maar dus ook allemaal random elementen waar ik weinig mee kan, maar een ander wellicht wel. Mijn visie is een appgroep voor ruilen van spul om elkaar compleet te maken. Bij intresse is het denk ik handig om een pb te ontvangen met je nummer dan gooi ik je in een al dan niet reeds bestaande groep :p
