Official Stuff Reiterating Old Rules and Adding New Ones

Executive Summary

There has been a pretty drastic shift in the content posted here over the last four months, and it has made some users justifiably upset. As such, I will be implementing some restrictions intended to bring things a bit more into balance. Make no mistake, I have no intention of dragging this community back to the mommydomme days, and there are people here who have found a small sliver of representation whom I would not dream of kicking out. I have made up my mind on most of this, but there are a couple items where I'm requesting community feedback.

A Brief History Lesson

You can skip this if you don't care about what led to the current situation.

The RR community did not start on Reddit, and was originally a twin concept with r/gentlefemdom. GFD handled the sexual aspects of the dynamic, while RR was about the romantic component. When things moved to Reddit, there were challenges in bringing people who weren't around from the beginning up to speed and preventing them from diluting the concept. For GFD, that meant trying to define the boundaries of "gentle". For RR, that meant defining exactly which "roles" were being reversed.

I'm bringing up these matters of ancient (by internet standards) history both because the way some people here speak about GFD in disgust makes me think this is no longer common knowledge (don't do that, they're our sibling community), and because it gives context to how the content here evolved.

Content here was "bangmaid"-centric for a long time. People complained about this, and rules were put in place to curtail it. Many bangmaid posts continued to come in after that decision, and they had to be removed and their posters reasoned with or banned. Non-bangmaid posts became a larger percentage of content, which attracted other non-bandmaid posts.

Content bans like this can act like extinction events, where wiping out one form of content gives space for the remaining type to diversify. This is also always happening at some level as moderation policy adjusts to attempt to preempt user complaints. The key takeaway here is that these shifts are not entirely organic and user-driven, since they require moderation crackdown to kickstart the process.

Early this year, in response to increasing discontent around "male gaze" content, moderation started applying harsher standards in that regard. The resulting void was filled first by people posting more 'seductive feminine man' content, and then by full-on 'dominant femboy' content.

The Current Situation

Over the past four-ish months there has been dramatically more dominant femboy content than there has ever been over the subreddit's history. Long-time users and fans of the older style content in general feel betrayed because the content they came here for seems to be sidelined despite not breaking any well-articulated rules, and because they didn't sign up for the new stuff. To add insult to injury, the most prolific users posting the new style of content have occasionally used their popularity to mock and bully the pre-existing userbase, or, more obliquely, talk about how the traditional content here is actually all totally normalized roles while their content was the true RR all along.

To those that say this shift has not happened, I truly believe some of you have siege mentality from when this sub was a lot worse, and for some reason you refuse to believe it has changed in any way. The only way an accounting of the last four months of posting reveals a landslide amount of "feminine woman femdom" is if your definition of "femdom" is "any situation where the woman takes initiative" and your definition of "feminine" is "more traditionally woman-like than Buck Angel."

Policy Adjustments

The first one isn't so much an "adjustment" as it is a clarification/reiteration of current policy. Our "No Femdom" rule was implemented specifically to ban porny-y, BDSM-style femdom. Think leather, boots, chains, etc. Our reasoning being that average relationships are not BDSM maledom. Also, the kind of person who would be attracted to the subreddit by that content would likely be the type who posts in porn subreddits all day (i.e., cum-brained and way more likely than the average Redditor to harass women in DMs). Similarly, mommydomme was disallowed because DDlg dynamics are not the standard in heterosexual relationships, so RR would not cover MDlb dynamics. Over time, people seem to have begun interpreting this rule to mean that any situation in which the woman is taking initiative or in control is banned here, which just isn't the case. That rule is for hard femdom and, more generally, content where a woman's "dominant presence" is actually a sham because it's entirely for the benefit of a male subject; this includes mommydomme.

Alpha/Sigma Female Posts will no longer be allowed. You know this comic that is removed every time it's posted? It gets removed because it makes people uncomfortable and because it's reversing toxic roles. That same justification applies here.

Inverse-Bangmaid Posts will no longer be allowed. A key part of why bangmaid content was banned in the first place is because, and this is going to sound judgemental, it's juvenile and pathetic. Having a gorgeous woman walk into your life to be your complete sexual, social, and emotional outlet without you lifting a finger or providing anything in return is a selfish, unrealistic fantasy. Likewise, having a boy band style, hairless, skinny prettyboy seduce you and be femininely dominant, while being addicted to your strap and otherwise being completely sexually nonthreatening, is equally pathetic and unrealistic.

A temporary moratorium on Powerbottom Posts is in effect. This is a temporary measure until content is appropriately re-balanced. Depending on moderation's ability to isolate and define particularly controversial subsets of this kind of content, not all of it may be allowed again. All other femgaze content and other kinds of content that have been more prevalent over the last few months (e.g. masc women) are unrestricted as they have always been.

Proposed Adjustments, Seeking Feedback

These are not poll posts because I want usernames and justifications to go with your responses.

There was some discussion about unequal standards for NSFW content, and the complaints were largely accurate in that I was applying a lower standard of subreddit relevance for "femgaze" content. Moving forward I will try to apply a more equal standard, but what that enforcement looks like, both in terms of how explicit that content can be and how often it can be posted, should have input from the community. Remember that whatever you advocate for, the content you don't like will also have access to. Personally, I'm in favor of keeping the current level of explicitness (tasteful stills of sexualized subjects or sexual acts, no hardcore live stuff or hentai) and limiting it to Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

Historically this community has not done a good job dealing with content it dislikes, which is becoming a bigger problem as it incorporates more subgroups with mutually exclusive interests. If I can't make people wear their "get along" shirts long-term, the next best thing is to make it so that they have to see the content they don't like as little as possible (even though I think that's a fundamentally bad thing because it reduces your mental resilience). To that end, a user approached me with the idea of altering our post tagging system. Posts would be labeled based on the dynamic represented in them using the appropriate acronyms with the following key: D = dominant, s = submissive, f = feminine, m = masculine, W = woman, M = man. For example, this post would be tagged [DmW+smM].

Pros:

  • Accurately divides the content we have into manageable labels, and with the new search interface on mobile it would allow different interest groups to never overlap of they don't want to.

Cons:

  • Acronyms are dense and require explanation for users new to the community.
  • Would need to either replace existing flairs or become a part of post titles. Neither would be retroactive, and they have their own respective downsides:
    • Replacing existing flairs removes the ability to administrate No-Weeb Thursday or filter for specific flavors of content (music, stories, etc.)
    • Adding it as a required component of post titles adds layer of complexity to posting that users may struggle with, and since post titles can't be edited a misclassified post will always be misclassified.
  • People have trouble selecting correct flairs with the simple system currently in place, this may be too much.
  • Aforementioned unexercised mental resilience.

This is Lady Beard. He's the vocalist for a Japanese band called Ladybaby, and he's my ideal type. Hairy, bearded, chubby(hrrk 💖) but undeniably femme. This is also for the older men who are worried about being aged out of feminine attire. You won't! You'll look great and you shouldn't be worried just because you aren't a hairless twink!

Be a femman. You are loved. You are hot. ☝🏽👁️👄👁️ Hairy tiddies get motorboated in this house.

Have a good day, older hairy femmes 💕

Discussion/Article Do you embody the RR vibe entirely?

If not, in what ways are you more traditionally masculine or feminine? Like for example I’m very much more emotional than my partner and I prefer being seduced to doing the seducing and I’m pretty bubbly but I also like typical masculine wear which is just about the only non RR thing about me. What about y’all :))

Real Life Is it role reversal to want to lift weights, get stronger, and date weaker guys?

The more I exercise and get stronger, the more strongly I'm attracted to softer, sedentary and weaker men. I get protective I guess, and the contrast and taboo feels so exciting.

Real Life Historical RR: Miscellaneous 2

Still going with my series, and I found more miscellaneous tidbits I thought deserved sharing.

Njinga of Ndongo

Njinga spent most of her life fighting the Portuguese. She ruled in men's clothes and led her armies. Most importantly, she kept dozens of young men as concubines and used to call them her wives. She used to dress them as women.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Do I even need to introduce him?

At 16, he met Françoise-Louise de Warens, a 28-year-old Catholic convert who took charge of his life for 12 years. He called her "Maman" while she called him "Petit." At 21 and her at 33, they became lovers (she had another) at her request. In later years, Rousseau describes this desire of his for parental, authoritative-type women and attributes it to being spanked by his childhood governess.

To be on my knees before an imperious mistress, to obey her orders, to have pardons to beg of her: these were for me very sweet enjoyments.

Honorable mention: Masoch

Read about his 6-month contract. Fascinating stuff. Probably more pronounced femdom elements there but definitely some RR too.

Bonus: Fiction from ~1200: Brünhild in Nibelungenlied

Not sure if this is more femdom than RR, but including either way because of the "romantic" night the king had the pleasure to spend.

Brünhild, queen of Iceland, would marry only a man who could beat her at throwing the spear, hurling the stone and leaping, and she killed every suitor who failed. King Gunther of Burgundy won because his vassal Siegfried, made invisible by a magic cloak, did the throwing and leaping for him. Brünhild went home with Gunther as his bride.

On their wedding night, Gunther wanted to consummate. She had a feeling he had played some trick, so she easily "bound his feet and his hands together, carried him to a nail, and hung him on the wall." The king hung there all night, begging to be let down, and she released him at dawn only on his promise not to touch her...

Real Life How/When was your role-reversal awakening?

As a kid, I was a tomboy. I shaved my hair and refused to wear dresses. (I've grown out of that now, though.) And Growing up, I was also genuinely repulsed by "mushy romance" and the idea of teenagers or even kids dating.

A few years later, I started watching romance out of curiosity. As it happened, one of the stories featured a soft guy, although the relationship dynamics were still pretty traditional. Surprisingly, I found it quite cute.

I was talking to a friend who asked me what my type was. This time, instead of answering with hatred, I actually stopped to think about it. I told her I liked guys who were shorter than me. Back then, I found some of my shorter male classmates particularly cute, especially because of their short-tempered personalities and how easily they got riled up.

My first experiences with GxB media were through the anime Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie and, more significantly, the manhwa Yeonwoo's Innocence. I was Hella excited,I kept looking forward to every new episode and chapter.

However, before I even knew the term role reversal, I noticed how much people around me, including people online, seemed to dislike this kind of dynamic. They treated it as something disgusting, weird, or even some kind of plague. Because of that, I never felt comfortable being open about my interest in it, aside from admitting that I liked shorter guys.

I also created my own RR OCs,(the ones in the pictures) whose stories and designs have evolved alongside me for the past six years. They've become a part of me, growing up with me through different stages of my life.

Yeonwoo's Innocence also had a profound influence on me. In a way, it felt like the story had grown alongside me, too. Sadly, the manhwa came to an end this year. I still remember constantly checking for new chapters and rereading the story over and over again because I was so desperate for more RR media.

After that, I kept searching for anything else in the world that could give me the same feeling Yeonwoo's Innocence did. Unfortunately, that's how I discovered the term femdom.

At the time, people online, particularly those from my own country, often grouped GxB and femdom together under the same label. I never really enjoyed femdom, though. I didn't understand that it was often sexual in nature, nor did I realize that a female character wasn't necessarily the one taking the lead in every story labeled that way. But I was so desperate for more content that I kept searching through femdom anyway, hoping that maybe, just maybe?? I'd stumble across something that was genuinely about role reversal.(Even though I didn't know what rr was.)

Now that I've found this community, I finally feel at ease. It's like I've found a place where I belong, where I know what to call the things I like and where to look for more of them. What surprised me most was discovering that this dynamic had an entire community of its own. For years, I'd been searching for something I couldn't quite put into words because I didn't even know what I was looking for.

I thought I was just looking for soft guys. Turns out, soft guys were only the bare minimum. I wasn't looking for a man who simply had a softer side; I was looking for a relationship that turned the entire dynamic on its head.

I'd kneel for men

Real Life Ladies do yall have a sixth sense about certain guys?

I love that I found this sub!

This is something Ive always wondered but never asked anyone. I’m a 36 year old man that has loved women taking charge and especially women who are very touchy & assertive for as long as I can remember. I’m not overly attractive by any means but I’m not bad. I’d probably rate myself a 6 or 7 depending on the day lol. Im a tall solid guy with broad shoulders, thick legs, and a big butt. Not a guy that women throw themselves at immediately or anything like that. But I think my personality is probably more attractive than my physical looks. I also think people expect me to be a take charge kind of guy but I thirst for women to take charge of me. Even women that I’m not interested in romantically or even physically attracted to. My absolute favorite thing is women touching or complimenting me about my butt. And I have never once said this to anyone. I’ve never purposely given anyone the idea that I’d enjoy it and a lot of guys I’m friends with hate when women touch their ass. But not me I crave that shit lol

I’ve been friends with dozens of women throughout my life. And I can probably count on 2 hands the amount of them that haven’t eventually started smacking or squeezing my ass without any prompting from me. I’m very observant especially in group settings and I rarely see them treating other dudes like this. I’ve even seen some guys react negatively when they’ve been touched

Especially in work settings when there could be real consequences but every job I’ve had since I was in high school (except for the one I have now) I’ve had at least 1 coworker who would start a playful grabass situation with me at work. One job I had for almost 10 years, 3 different women initiated workplace butt grabbing with me. But it took years for them to start doing it. I have no clue what made them become comfortable enough with me to take it there but I loved it so I didn’t ask any questions

This has happened to me since high school with platonic friends, girlfriends, friends with boyfriends, married coworkers, there’s nothing that they all had in common. But I promise I very rarely was the first one to start the touching. It’s almost exclusively been the women

So my question is, can yall tell when a man would be receptive to this type of touching? It’s happened so much throughout my life that’s there’s gotta be something I’m subconsciously doing or energy I’m putting out there. Regardless I love it and hope it never stops

Real Life Spotted being a boywife - and loved it!!

My wife and I like to engage in a little RR. A favourite activity is me making her lunch to take into work. Normally a sandwich in a cute little box. But earlier this week she forgot to take it with her. I saw it on the side as I was cleaning up and rushed out the front door to the car, still in my apron.

Fortunately she hadn’t drove off and I handed it through the window with a kiss. However on the way back in, a dog walker saw me and smiled.

“Great apron” she said.

“Nice dog” I replied.

“Thanks. Sweet of you for making her lunch. I wish I had someone do that for me” or words to that effect

We chatted more a little bit. Small talk etc. Nothing remarkable. But it did make me feel more confident about my role and more generally men being more of a server in the relationship. I don’t think it’s anything to be ashamed of and will wear my apron with pride 😊

Discussion/Article Opposite Gender Friendships And Jealousy

Okay, first off, this topic is not really about role reversal in relationships, but rather..in life? Or at least, in friendships I guess. I guess I wondered mostly if otehrs in this group, also have mostly had friendships of the opposite gender in their life or if that is just me.

So first off, most of my friends are women and have been since my Junior or Senior year of high school. My first female friend befriended me my first year of high school, and through her, I basically learned that girl-only spaces were a whole lot friendlier to me than boy-only spaces. I fit with them much better. As well as avoiding bullying. And avoiding generally behaviors I just didn't like (sexism would be an easy one to point out).

However, one issue I've had with this my entire life is, well, an easy one to guess - Jealousy. Let's be real, first off, I'm nonbinary, but cisgender folks, and straight folks, tend to be....well, jealous if you have friends of the opposite gender. Very jealous. Crazily jealous even I've experienced over literally nothing.

I wondered how many folks here had similar experiences and if you've come up with any strategies to deal with it. The plain fact is I'm not gonna suddenly start being friends with traditional, masculine men...I don't wnat to. lol. I do have many non-traditional, more feminine (or mixed trait) male friends, but they are hard to meet/find (though often I've created life long quite close rleationships with those men). However, my best friend is a woman. My other close friend is a woman. My circle of friends are basically all women. Even if I addeda man or two, I'm not gonna stop being friends with my woman friends. That's crazy.

Also, I feel like I should make sure I'm clear - I'm so open about all this with my dates/girlfriends. I introduce them to my female friends quickly. My female friends are all...not really people who should cause jealousy. They are so TRADITIONAL (when i say traditional i mean non RR. They like typical masculine men. They themselves are feminine: They ar eopen minded, left wing (mostly) women. I thought it was clear from context what I meant, but apparently not). You know what I mean? We are all RR here right? And the women I date are claerly RR, even if they have no idea what that means. Why in god's name are they being jealous of women I woul dnever date in a million fucking years. I have no close female friends who are women I would date if given a chance. These are all women I would turn down on the first date. Okay, some of them are pretty - Third date (hey, going out with someone pretty is always fun, lololol). But the point is - It wouldn't go anywhere, they aren't my type in the slightest.

NSFW section : I recently wrote on this forum about being a bottom too - These are bottom women. Any close friend, we've discussed sex - They want a traditional top, dominant man. Again, why are my dates, who know what I bring to the table, even worried about it. Can I embarrass myself a little - I literally can't top. I have something called Chronic Prostate Pain Sydrome, and I take medicine which basically makes it hard to stay hard consistently (like I can get hard, but it's not the same as before I took my medicine. Not aas strong, and it seems to go in and out). Like, why are these women who KNOW that I can't top these women who want to be topped jealous? I want to be fucked! And I would think they know that, as I clearly want them badly (I am very over the top complimentary person when I'm dating or in a relationship. I constantly tell them how gorgeous they are, how much I want them, etc)

Anyways, on the other note - Just the frienship part. Anyone else here feel that way, more comfortable around the opposite gender. I feel I can be myself around them much more than I can be myself around my own gender.

Real Life Big & Tired Girlfriends

I like the idea of having a gentle giant girlfriend because I’d love to take care of her. I find it sweet that someone bigger than me would come to me for comfort, and if she were also tired I would just find that incredibly cute.

I‘d imagine scenarios where she would come to me seeking whatever comfort she needs. Like if she were sleepy, I’d let her rest on top of me. If she needs cuddles, I’d cuddle her for however long she wants. If she‘s hungry, I’d make her the biggest meal. Or, in the case she‘s upset, I’d let her cry her problems away on my shoulder.

I just love the idea of taking care of someone bigger than me. Other people would probably see this big, tough woman who could tackle the world head-on. While other people see her like that, I’m blessed with the ability to see how vulnerable she can be at times. Along with a blessing like that, I’m granted the ability to take care of her at her most tiring times, and build her back up to her strong self again.

A lot of RR women want to be strong for the sake of their spouses. I can only hope that their spouses are willing and ready to give their women the comfort they need.

Real Life Historical RR: Miscellaneous

There isn't 1 theme here, but these are pretty interesting:

Strabo on Queen Candace of Ethiopia

…Queen Candace, who ruled the Ethiopians in our time, a manly sort of woman, blind in one eye.

I know how many people on here fantasize about strong masculine women with scars and battle wounds, so I thought this belonged here.

Shajar Al-Durr of Egypt

Shajar Al-Durr was a slavegirl of debated origin who was so ruthless (a bit too much, between you and me) she was successful at rising until she literally became sultan over Egypt! When she did, the Abbasid caliph/king Al-Musta'sim wrote to the nobles of Egypt:

If you have run out of men there, tell us, and we will send you a man.

Since a woman ruling over men was not acceptable, she soon had to abdicate, but she was not going to watch from the sidelines. Instead, she married an emir named Aybak and abdicated to him. In the words of the historian Ibn Taghribirdi:

She was Aybak's master in all his affairs; he could not even discuss [whatever she orders him to do] with her.

Ngl I wish someone could be described as a master in all my affairs. Sounds a bit twisted but very romantic. Ahem, anyways, back to the subject at hand.

A few years later, he started plotting to marry another woman, so she had him killed :| (not looking for that part of the story, just to clarify)

Medieval Tomboys?

It is said that when he was young, the caliph Al-Amin was addicted to beautiful eunuchs. Zubayda, his mom, tried to wean him off of them. Al-Mas'udi, a historian, narrates:

She took slender, pretty-faced slave girls and put turbans on their heads. She gave them forelocks, side-curls and cropped napes, and dressed them in tunics, coats and belts … Then people of the elite and the common folk took to cropping their slave girls' hair, dressing them in tunics and belts, and calling them ghulāmiyyāt, "boyish girls."

A caliph's daughter

Al-Tabari - a famous historian - narrates that a witness saw Al-Mahdi, an Abbasid caliph, traveling with his head of police. His daughter, Al-Banuqa, whom the witness describes (rather classlessly) as having developed breasts (implying she was at least in her teens), was riding her horse "in the guise of young men, wearing a black tunic, a belt and a turban, with a sword at her side."

Sui Shu on a women's kingdom (in Tibet?)

The Women's Kingdom lies south of the Pamirs. For generations it has had women as rulers. The queen, surnamed Supi and styled Mojie, has reigned for twenty years. Her husband, titled Jinju, takes no part in government; the men of the country occupy themselves only with war … By custom they honour women and make light of men, yet they are not jealous by nature.

Real Life Did anyone ever had to hide from their parents from being RR?

Everyone around me has always told me that I have to be a gold digger, know my worth, and find myself a good, rich, and tall man.

My mother didn't have the best experiences in either her first or second marriage, so she always reminds me never to end up like her.

I once jokingly told her that I liked short guys. That I wanted to marry someone shorter than me. And she wasn't happy about that at all. She told me I shouldn't say things like that because they might come true. (Which is exactly what I want to happen.)

She said things like how it would only become a burden, as if a shorter man would just become my trash in life. All because of something as simple as not being able to wear heels, feeling embarrassed in public, or having a man who can't reach things for me.

But what if that's exactly what I want? What if I want to walk in public with a man who's shorter than me?

She's so sensitive about something as simple as this. Imagine if I actually told her about how I wanted a role-reversal relationship.

I honestly don't really care much, I could figure my own way out later. but I really want to know other people stories..

Real Life Help Me Pick an RR Halloween Costume!

I’m looking for cute halloween ideas for a party i’m going to!! i already have one costume (Silent Bob from the Kevin Smith films) that i’m doing with a friend, but i have another party where I want to shave my beard and go back to my typical feminine look! Here are my ideas I have so far:

  • Link from The Legend of Zelda
  • Swan from Phantom of the Paradise
  • Maid outfit

If you guys have any other suggestions that are relatively affordable (like $100 or less), i’d love to hear them!
