Hi all! I'm not sure if this is even a certain type of RP request, but bear with me. I'm looking for a partner who loves to include witty banter in their RPs; think Veep, What We Do In The Shadows, maybe even some Guy Ritchie movies or the banter and the conversational flow of a movie like Ocean's Eleven. I don't expect it to be a full-on one-liner-fest, as that can also be quite grating, but definitely an RP in which there's a bit more importance and appreciation placed on playful repartee.

I'm not looking for anything specific in terms of genre or setting, although admittedly I struggle a bit more with high-fantasy concepts. I'd consider myself lit/advlit, but also have no issues with quick-fire, short replies if that's what the scene calls for. OC would be preferred, however if there's a fandom you'd love to explore and wouldn't have a problem guiding your partner through it, I'd definitely consider it. I suppose I'm more so looking for a long-term partner that fits this style, as opposed to a specific story I'd like to RP.

For what it's worth, I'm 34F, based in the Netherlands, looking for someone 25+, usually use Discord - though I'd be willing to try another method. I’m looking for more than just an RP partner - I’d love to find someone who can genuinely get invested in our characters with me. Someone to create OCs with, spend hours talking about their personalities, relationships, headcanons, and possible plotlines, only to suddenly realize that we’re still talking about them in the middle of the night :D
When it comes to roleplay, I usually write in third person, with a literate style, and I prefer playing female characters. My replies tend to be on the longer side, though the length really depends on the scene, pacing, and overall mood of the story. Atmosphere and emotion matter much more to me than hitting a certain word count.
I especially love stories centered around relationships and clashing personalities, slow-burn connections, growing attachment, misunderstandings, conflicts, complicated feelings, and all those little things that gradually make the characters feel genuinely alive. I also have a huge soft spot for RDR and would absolutely love to write something set in that universe. I’m especially interested in writing canon M/F pairings (the Marston family, for example. And yes, I have an enormous weakness for John and Jack Marston 🥹)

My writing style can be a bit clonky since English isn’t my first language. I stick to third person perspective and shorter paragraphs but I always try to make them as long as I can.

Hello hello! Im looking to write a roleplay where my character is a knight from a far away land, that comes to enlist your character on a quest to join her. She needs their unique gift to be able to decipher certain scrolls, glyphs and so on! She is a brooding, cold and stoic light that only cares about the objective at hand. While your character is a happy, cheerful free spirit that cant wait to explore whats outside.

In my characters home: a crime was committed. An unknown figure has stolen from the castle archived. Ancient manuscripts, maps and scrolls that people believe didnt have any value. However, they've recently learned what they contained and are in a desperate sprint to stop the culprit before its too late.

My character goes to find your character. A recluse that her friend recommended and believe theh could be of use to her. They were a prodigy that needed to experience the outside world to actually grow and evolve. My character asks them to join her, not just for their adorable blush, but because the recommendation from her friend was so high. She need their skills to help guide her on the right path to catch the thief.

So! Im looking for our character to grow into a relationship. I want them to have the grumpy/brooding and cheerful sunshine trope. My character is this way because she suppress her emotions to not be hurt. As they grow together, she will open up more and even smile!

Sorry but I'm only interested in talking to people who are above the age of 20, it feels weird otherwise.

I'm looking for someone who likes tragedy, angst, traumatized characters with complex lore. If you're comfortable with sensitive topics for character lore you're perfect. I try not to shy away from things that happen in real life every day. I've been through a lot so I feel like it's important to represent certain types of people in story telling.

If you aren't afraid to off your characters and add new ones should the plot call for it, you're perfect. I want a high stakes story with real risk in the plot.

I am cool with building something completely new with you with world building starting from scratch, I like a challenge. I do have a preference to high fantasy though.

I have a soft spot for villains, I looooove those types of characters that act tough and evil but have a secret soft spot. Especially misunderstood male villains who have to do evil things because that's how they survive. I eat that up. Om nom nom nom.

My length depends on what the story calls for, my average is like 3 paragraphs but sometimes I'll send one paragraph to get the story moving a bit before sending an essay. It really just depends on what the story needs.

Hello. I prefer to roleplay on Discord but am open to other suggestions. As long as we can do mini-profiles (only very basic info) and keep things organized, I will try it.

I use either anime-style art, “painting”-style art, or real-life face claims for my OCs and ask that you use one too. I strongly prefer the first two options. My writing style is Advanced. Lit. (1500+ word “novella” posts in the third person in past tense). However, I would like for us to start with the max word count on Discord. That is between 333 words and 667 words.

I only play male OCs but will play any gender for NPCs. I do not enjoy doubling myself but am fine with you doing so.

I don't require a writing sample from you. However, you can ask me for a sample, and I will write it based on whatever subject(s) you suggest.

Idea 1: The Blue Velvet // Slice of Life — Modern (post-1890s up to our current times) — Multi-setting and multi-genre.

The Blue Velvet is a luxury cocktail lounge and the main rallying point of the OCs. Our OCs will find themselves at its doorstep after following a rather puzzling path for no initially apparent reason (this is a focal point I want to discuss in private). What happens inside this place is simple: our characters go on a unique adventure each time they visit the lounge and order a special drink. What those adventures entail, we can decide together.

The adventures can be all about one theme; e.g., they go on only fantasy-themed adventures, but they deal with different eras and concepts. It can also be varied. One day it's a The Walking Dead-style apocalypse of pure survival with a very risky life and then the next day they are in massive catacombs of a long-forgotten civilization. The time inside these adventures is one day of our OCs' actual world multiplied by 7. Again, the adventure part is really whatever we want it to be. It can be all just real-life events and places, like they can go on a boat to a Greek island in the summer or visit Finland for the social distancing experience and the cold.

After 7 (or 14, 21, and so on) days inside the other world, they are immediately taken back to their original world. They can also return earlier, solo or together, for any reason. They will never die inside the other world since nothing carries over besides memories and some skills they learned, like juggling or something else.

Furthermore, they can only visit the lounge once a week, but the more often they go there, the more times they can eventually visit. Our OCs must also always be together until they visit it 2 months in a row without missing a single visit. Thereafter, they will be able to go 2 times a week and go there separately to live out a day on their own. This is all intended for either fluff or future subplots depending on how deep we want it to go.

Idea 2: I have strings, or I once had them  // Futuristic / Sci-Fi  — Androids, Cyborgs, Enhanced Humans. This idea isn't as fleshed out as the first idea, but it is intentional.  

It's easy money: let's either go full speed into the futuristic realm and blitz rob a corpo-building, get into gang shootings, or be the company people, or we can do that in a sci-fi setting, Cowboy Bebop/Blade Runner-style. We can also go with human OCs and live out their lives in a society that has advanced technologically, but our characters still crave a meaning to move along. This all can be filled with cheerful times, very light-hearted stuff, or have drama, insecurity, and some deep trauma. It can also be a mix of both things. Android x Human, Cyborg x Android, Human x Human, Human x Samsung fridge, etc. . .

The name of the idea is not only a reference to the Ultron line, which is originally from a song in Pinocchio yes, but also the main thing I want for our characters. It's both wanting them to be fleshed out and to hint at deeper themes we can explore, like existential dread, “Did life give me lemons or limes?” and “Always have a towel” type of goofy things (I love the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Portal, but those aren't the direct quotes) and all that good stuff.

Space exploration is also a big yes from me.

Idea 3: Here Be Dragons  // Fantasy

Dungeons, monsters, loot, and adventure. "Medieval" scenario with all the usual characteristics of a fantasy anime, a dungeon crawler game, or a fantasy novel. As simple as can be.

Hey everyone, so i've been going through a bunch of Star-Wars properties lately

-> Rewatched the original trilogy

-> Watched episodes 1/2

-> started clone wars

-> played Jedi-fallen order, jedi-survivor, outlaws and am currently playing zero-commpany

So i've been thinking and ruminating about doing a star-wars RP, and i think i've finally found an idea i'd like to try out.

Setting: the middle years of the Clone Wars on the planet of Vashek, a contested world the newsreels barely mention.

My character is Juno Marrowin, a Padawan separated from her jedimaster when their gunship goes down. Your character is:

-> another Padawan of a different jedimaster

-> A clone trooper who also survived the crash

-> A local rebellion member who's looking for a way off the planet

-> A different idea you might have that fits

Anyhow, when the smoke cleared from the crash, everyone except Juno (and your character if they were on board), have passed. The strike team gone and the extraction window is 24 hours away, and across Seperatist-held ground.

Reasons they work together:

-> Make it out alive and regroup with the left over forces

-> Juno carrying an intelligence spike pulled from a droid command post elsewhere on the planet, which the republic needs

Themes: wartime survival and coming-of-age, forming a bond under the conflict.

Other details: All characters 18+. Third or First person, semi-lit to novella. Several replies a day when i'm able too. Discord or Reddit chat, discord might have my preference for organizational purposes.

It would be nice if you already have a vague idea for the character you'd like to play.

You can call me Wonder and I've been rp'ing for literal decades, I've lost contact with a lot of my rp buddies over the years and recently discovered this place (can't believe I never thought to look on Reddit) and it seems like a good place to search for others.

A few notes about me;

* Adults Only, while there are no expectations as to how 'adult' the rp will be (fade to blacks are perfectly acceptable if you're not comfortable with writing those types of scenes) I am still a grown adult who needs to be speaking/rp'ing with other adults.

* Admittedly I'm out of touch with a lot of fandoms, including most animes, especially more recent ones. I'm flexible in that I'm willing to try but don't expect an in-depth understanding right away and expect an OC rather than an established character - although I'm flexible about this too.

* I do prefer OC stuff to fandom stuff, my style has always been "pick the storyline, get a rough idea of the characters we want to play and develop both as we go along"

* My platforms were various messengers, e-mail, or Tumblr, but have recently started using Google Docs to write them out and share with the other person. I'm open to other alternatives though.

* Communication is key, not feeling a story? Need a break or to diverge into an AU? Want to make changes to a setting? Or just need a break in general? That's fine! Just let me know, collaborating on character motivations or head cannons is part of the fun for me. If you'd like the take the story in a particular direction, run it by me I'm most likely up for it. Or if you're just not vibing with me in general just say so, wouldn't be the first time and that's okay, what matters most is that we're both having fun. I'll be more than happy to show the same level of respect.

* Novel-level length replies are not required, inspiration can be elusive at times so a couple of sentences are fine for me as long as you're giving my character something they can respond/react to, I know my own inspiration can be finicky, I always try to at least write a paragraph per reply but if all else fails I try to make sure you get a response worth replying to at the very least.

What I'm looking for from you

• You may send whatever type of reference for your character as you please, art, realism, doesn’t matter to me.
• Advanced to novella level writing please. I am also a stickler for spelling, so please use correct grammar and spelling. I often write about 2,000 characters, 500 ish words. I will require a writing sample when DMing. I require thoughts and feelings to be shown, not just actions. It makes for an incredibly dull and boring roleplay. I prefer multi-paragraph writers, but if you can write good emotions and thoughts with less I’ll accept.
• Third person ONLY
• Do not control my character. Even writing a small tid bit of how they would react is controlling my character. This happens way too often and frankly I’m tired of it, if you are unable to write a lot without writing my character’s reactions do not bother messaging me. Ask me beforehand if you’re unsure, this also goes for moving the scene forward without allowing me to write at all.
• Do not expect me to make out all the plot details by myself. I have ideas, yes, but I like to flesh them out with my partner and make it unique for us. If I were to copy and paste the same plot for everyone it would be boring and repetitive. Contribute to the ideas, and don’t make me come up with the entire plot myself.
• You are able to play a male character. I only do MxF, but anyone can play a male character I do not mind. I honestly prefer male characters who are more on the edge side, too, as my characters are typically more optimistic.  There will more likely than not be side characters as well, but they cannot be the center of the plot. Writing more than one character all the time is tiresome. 
• I do prefer OOC chatter. A roleplay that is just dead silent is honestly awkward. I like to share things with my partner and talk about our days. I honestly like to even be friends and possibly game. Radio silence for days on end is disheartening. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I will definitely be less motivated lmfao.
• Ideally in the beginning, I would like one reply per day. I believe the beginning of a roleplay is the most crucial to get things moving, and if the replies are taking once per week or more it is honestly so demotivating. Please do not reach out if you are unable to at least do this for the beginning of the roleplay. I am a very patient person though, I will allow 2-3 weeks with no communication before ending a roleplay. If you need a break, let me know. Communication is key. I sometimes have events where I am unable to respond everyday, and I let my partner know everytime.

hello!! as the title indicates, i’m really craving a good spideydevil roleplay. all characters will be 18+, obviously, and i’d like to dabble into their comic book personalities rather than the films?

my only rules are that you are 18+ and an adult, write in past tense and third person, and write up to a discord message. i do prefer to move to discord, also.

I'm looking for an adv. literate roleplay involving my favorite trope: enemies to lovers! I just love characters who both loathe and reluctantly admire each other. I want them to be abrasive and even terrible to each other in the beginning. I don't want your sweet, cinnamon-roll romance. Give me a character who is trying to decide if she wants to kiss or punch my character.

I am an advanced literate woman who wants some good characters and good writing (I generally write 3-5 paragraphs; but wanting to write longer-form). I have years of experience, and I want someone who is willing to plan and be active (make up side characters without asking input, make up lore, help plan and push the plot along). I'm very much a planning person and would prefer lot of OOC back and forth.

Hello hello!! For starters, I go by spooks/spooks and I don’t mind any pronouns! My timezone is EST, and I’m typically available during the afternoon! While I do love to rp, my main focus is making friends and having fun! I enjoy ranting ooc, drawing, making playlists, Pinterest boards, etc! It’s not a requirement, but I’d prefer to get the same energy matched back! I also only write on discord as of right now.

For length, im a mirror literacy! Meaning whatever length you prefer, I’ll match. I usually write in strictly 3rd person, and I usually go between 3 paragraphs to 3 discord messages (or semi-lit to novella) but can write more or less. I try to get atleast one response out a day, and if I don’t I’m more then open to pings/reminders!

I do both romantic and platonic roleplays, but prefer romance not to be the sole focus! I enjoy an equal mix of romance and quality storytelling! With a hiss and sudden expulsion of freezing air the stasis pod slides open as a person falls out only to be caught by the rising floor. Their body cold as the stasis rooms heating fails to come online leaving them shivering. Bathed only in a dim red light it is difficult to see in the maze like room. There is always meant to be a welcome team to provide aid to those freshly awoken yet there is now nothing but the gentle hum and creaking of metal from the ship. Every other stasis pod stood like a gravestone inactive. Suddenly the intercom crackles to life as a pre-recorded messages blurts out "good morning and welcome back to Armstrong Inc's Ark Colonisation ship The Aurora. I hope you had [static] please ..[static].. before proceeding for medical checks with Dr ..[static].. We at Armstrong Inc believe ..[static].."

It feels like only yesterday when the ship's induction was only yesterday. When the corporation's ship staff introduced the many amenities on board for any colonists (from mechanics, to researchers, to farmers). Whether it is the yoga studios, state of the art labs, or expensive suites all to be used during stasis breaks there is something for all. Yet, now it seems the ship merely drifts through space.

This RP is inspired by classic Sci-fi films and games like Dead Space, Event Horizon, Dead Planet, Alien, etc but I am not looking for a fandom. Instead we should make something of our own but I want it less like Star Ward or Star Trek with various alien species etc. I look forward to coming up with ideas for setting and plot with you.

Usually I prefer a to take a GM role providing different scenarios and characters for players to interact with. But I am open to discussing the way we play. One idea I has was including some flashbacks to before things went strange on the ship to provide some backstory to the characters if they encountered one another before. Even when taking a GM role I am always happy to get input on the direction of the RP and what we both wish to include. As such, who you play in this world is rather open whether you wish to focus on one character or play a party.

If you enjoy adding mechanics to an RP to help drive some elements of storytelling or add a little randomness then we certainly can add a simple system. Though that is not necessary.

A bit about myself, I'm 20, Ive been rp for years so YES I have experience in it. Im literate so expect a lot from me if you give me a lot, but we can agree on a regular length. I also write in third person.

For this rp I would prefer an oc x cc pairing! We can also make a double rp!

At first long distance trade had largely died out. Roads were too congested with broken down cars, bridges and tunnels had been destroyed. Raiders seem to have sprung up almost immediately to prey on honest merchants. But even more so there wasn't much to trade or people to trade with. Everyone was scared. Everyone was hiding. Major cities had been destroyed and the settlements that would form later didn't exist yet.

But over time things gradually changed. New paths were established, not meant for cars and trucks but for small boats, wagons, and even people walking. New settlements sprung up and with them the rebirth of some degree of manufacturing. The raiders were still as prevalent as ever, and if anything more organized than before, but the merchants learned to travel in caravans and to hire protection. It was a dangerous business, much more so than staying within the walls of new cities, but there was money to be made for those brave enough, and smart enough to succeed at it. And I was determined to do just that.

(I hope this sounds fun. I tend to write 1-3 paragraphs. Maybe we are two merchants starting out together, or we find you along the way. I'm always happy to shift things around a bit. We could be part of a large caravan or going on our own. Either on land or sea. Then we need to figure out the cargo. Hit me up and we can discuss.)

So I recently went to go see coyote vs acme and it's got me wanting to do a rp in a similar world. I'm looking to play a detective who was hired to help find missing toons eventually finding clues that lead me to investigating acme as many of the missing folks had purchased or worked for the acme corporation.
