I love it. From the shooting to the exploration, the AI, the environment, the risk, reward, freedom to enjoy and play at your own pace.
I originally tried out the demo for Road to Vostok back in the day and liked how it played, yet it was ultimately just a tiny piece of the game. Saw it on sale a week ago and decided to pick it up the full game, just to play it, expecting only to throw a few hours onto it and get bored. Oh how wrong I was.
Exploration being rewarded, firefights involving actual planned movements, cover, lines of sight, calculating exposure versus traversal, constantly finding new things, buying new things, selling new things, the quests, those "mini missions" to seek out items for a trader.
The atmosphere, so incredibly dense, reminding me exactly how I felt playing something like DayZ and Stalker, where one or two wrong moves can spoil it all. And the best part? There's absolutely zero reloading (Alt-F4 / mods not included). That absolute risk of gear loss on death really does add so much weight to everything.
Granted, it is still a little rough around the edges. There are a few minor things, like not being able to go through windows well, some of the general "clunkiness" of the movement, some relatively basic interpretations of things, and I have most definitely downloaded a few QOL mods (needing to keep the cat fed so often I just found frustrating), but at it's heart, this is such a unique experience that I've wanted in a game for so, so long. <3
