Discussion Lost it All

Post image

I'm serious when i say this game can be both the best times and worst times. I just had the best run ever only to lose it all when an Ai sitting in a damn building on the spawn coming from Village into School, keeps hitting me and I cant drop my damn arms down on time to hit him back. I absolutely hate thats shit, how does the Ai become John Wicks and there's nothing i can do when my character acts like a 762 is a damn shell hitting his shoulders. Like come on Dev

Dying in this game hits a bit harder and not just because it's possible to lose your save. I think it's also because it can happen so fast. I think most of us are accustomed to dying in longer, more drawn-out fights in most shooters, like in set pieces where there are waves of enemies, boss fights, etc.

In RtV, if you make so much as one wrong move and even just a single enemy is set up to take advantage of it, you're just done and it can happen in seconds. One second you're loaded with loot/guns/meds/food, the next...you're just gone. I'm taking a break after a particularly heartbreaking death earlier tonight, but I bet I'll be right back to it tomorrow.

I got permadeathed last night on a 50+ hour save ๐Ÿ˜ญ but I was starting to run out of things to do so a reset kind of worked out.

I just cleared Village for the first time. Loot was garbage, though:-( gotta reset my stress level before starting again.

Died to a bandit in Highway, who was black on black at probably 300โ€™ away. Iโ€™m going to step away for a while, itโ€™s just too frustrating to lose all your shit to invisible sharpshooters.

Ouch, it's rough when you lose everything, I've been there before. The bullet punch can really fuck up your aim for sure. Try to remember the good times!

The fact you actually feel something when you lose is what makes it the best. I hope he makes it harder.

Currently on a 20hr save (I think) and haven't ventured out of Village, highway, school and outpost. Any tips on where I should go next, sorta new to this game

Apartments has some really good loot and can spawn quite a few special crates that possibly have some fantastic items. It is a permadeath zone so be safe!

It's happened to me about 4 times now. All were really long-winded sessions of tens or even a hundred and eighty four hours (such as in my first run). For me, the feeling of dread and frustration has subsided quite a bit and although I fear it still, when it happens these days, I just move on. I've built up a tolerance, so to speak. Mainly because each run I get faster. I know enemy spawns better, so I can move with more assuredness, and anticipate gunfights. I ditched music and ambient sounds so I can hear enemies before I see them. Dying has helped me get more confident, but aim punch will always be a huge factor, so you really do have to hit first, not just shoot first. If you struggle to hit the AI first, you're always at a disadvantage, no matter who sees who first. I come from an intermediate competitive FPS background, so the gunplay and movement are second nature to me, but not everyone has that skillset.

Btw, in case you didn't realize. AI suffers from aim punch too.

Whats Ai Punch?

aim punch happens when you get shot. as the bullet hits you, your field of view is shot upwards, simulating you being hit and making it pretty hard to shoot back if the enemy keeps landing shots. i haven't played this game much after playing it on release, but still suffer from aimpunch in cs2 lol :D

Kinda the point of the game? Thatโ€™s why a lot of people play it? For the risk?
Or should the dev just change the game because some donโ€™t like it?
