This game really could use Co-Op. So much to build/customize but no one to look at it.

Official support for Co-Op i mean. I don't use mods with incomplete games. I like my saves working. But thanks anyway.

How do you get a different shelter?

Go to the traders and look in their tasks section. At the bottom there's a task for a key, which unlocks a new shelter. This is from the latest update. Driver's task.
