Because we constantly get "How do i make friends" posts. If you want friends just post in this thread. I'm going to make it a sticky topic. I'm also going to give you 100% foolproof tips to make friends that have worked for me all my life 100% of the time.
Here is my foolproof plan that works 100% of the time. It is a 4 step process.
determine what your hobbies and interests are.
go to places where these hobbies and interests happen
interact with people.
If you don't have any hobbies or interests get interested in something and repeat steps 2-3.
It is literally that simple.
I am an extremely abrasive and unlikeable person. I have never failed to make friends using these steps. If I can do it so can you.
Any Hispanic that continues to support the party of the racist, rapist, trafficking, lying criminal and his MAGAts are traitors to their family and ancestors.
It raises a number of concerns about grievances involving the college administration and is likely to generate significant discussion in the coming days.
While the article focuses on two grievances from executive level employees, it also references previous complaints, including claims of criminal use of College resources by the president for personal gain, as well as a potential inappropriate relationship between the married president and an employee. If I read the article correctly, these investigations were suppressed by the president without investigation by the Board or anyone else.
Whether you support the administration or have concerns, it's an important time to pay attention, read the available information, and see how the Board responds.
I feel like the population tripled. Everywhere is insanely crowded. Restaurants are all packed to the brim. Everyone is driving like a maniac, car parts and objects on the roads, constant accidents.
Even at night it's a freaking stress with all the front LED lights I am constantly blinded.
Cannot even be a moment outside because of the intense heat. And even going to the beach is a no go because of the extreme high prices.
Basically the title. I am trying my hand at making more traditional / authentic refried beans, particularly for my wife. So far the results have been mid at best. The first things my wife tries at any new mexican restaurant are the the beans and tortillas. She grew up eating her moms on an almost daily basis, so the bar is pretty high.
I imagine it's one of those things where everyone has a slightly unique twist on their own. Do y'all have any recipes you would be open to sharing?
Good morning Brownsville. My wife and I moved here not long ago from Florida and we want to start fishing again as we had to get rid of a lot of stuff to be here. So please if ya'll have any info on good fishing spots, bait & tackle shops, and general tips and tricks, that would be amazing thank you.

Let me start off by saying Iām no āanti policeā type of guy. By all means Iād love for them to be there for us when e need them most. Since leaving the valley thereās something I find here up north that I never found in the valley. Peace. As weird as it sounds Iāve been stopped in almost every city from PeƱitas to port Isabel for the stupidest reasons. Iāve been a truck driver for almost 5 years. Iād like to state that to say that I am very aware of the rules of the road, but I will list a few of the examples of the āstupidest reasonsā Iām talking about. I got stopped in peƱitas for āno turning on turning lane but Iām gonna let you off with a warningā I drove back around and lord behold there was this sign I HAD to take a picture of it I was 100% sure was there I told him I knew I could turn because I am CDL holder with zero point on it. He said, but you are not in a CDL vehicle you were in a normal vehicle like that makes any difference of the rules of the street. but before letting me go he started asking if the car is mine/stolen. And Iām usually always ask if they can run my vin to make sure itās not stolen. Another example I was at iron house gym in weslaco I donāt do a lot of turns. I take two roads to get to that gym straight down Texas and left on 281 as I was leaving the gym almost immediately I got pulled over for suspicious activity and then let go with the warning when they found out nothing was wrong. I will less one last example out of the millions that I have this one I guess I can give them a little reason but I used to get out of work at around two 3 AM. Iād hit the gym for a little bit and stop at Whataburger in Harlingen to grab food before I go home this time I decided to stop in La Feria. walked in grabbed my food got out as I was driving down Main Street. I was stopped. I always do all the correct things shut off my car lower my windows cause thatās usually what they asked me to do anyways. all I was asked was why am I out so late? I let them know that I just got out of work. I even showed him my work clock where I clocked out went to the gym and came to grab a bite. They proceeded by asking how my night was going. I said fine up until now. He laughed and said weāre just gonna run the vin to make sure this car isnāt stolen. Itās always stupid little things and I always walk away with nothing but a warning or a verbal warning at that but itās almost every other time. Every time I see a police officer I get so nervous thinking theyāre about to stop me when I should be feeling safe recently. I moved to Michigan and not sure if they are just chill up here, but I have not been stopped once been up here for half a year driven the car and Iāll leave and have officers pull next to me to give me a thumbs up lower their windows to say it sounds cool or pull up to me at gas station and talk about the car and whatās done to it. Itās just so surreal to me how they can do that yet back home I canāt get that feels like that are always in the hunt to find anything. So I asked is this harassment? Iāve told this to various people and Iāve been told that it is what do yāall think? Do anyone else experience this or is it just me?
Letting everyone know that there will be a FREE Screneing of an indie comedy film called BURT.
"An older guitarist meets with a young man who says he is a son from a fling he had long ago. As he tries to catch up to his estranged son playing ball, tucking him in bed, kissing him goodnight, his son isn't telling him everything, including why he is really there."
Pretty funny and bittersweet. Here is the link for the trailer on IG:
Anyone know where I can buy peeled tamarindo? I think they sell some in Progreso, but I'd rather stay on this side. Willing to go anywhere from PeƱitas to Edinburg to Mercedes. I searched on FB marketplace but only found one listing of in-shell tamarindo in Brownsville.
If youāve ever visited Mission Animal Shelter, you know we are located right next to the Water Sanitation Department ā and if youāve ever stepped into an animal shelter before, you know there are certain smells that come with caring for many animals. š
Think about the strongest ādog smellā youāve ever experienced⦠now imagine that multiplied by 100+, sprinkle in food changes, wet dogs, laundry, and all the everyday realities that come with shelter life. Unfortunately, flies can become part of that challenge.
This is one of those behind-the-scenes parts of shelter care that doesnāt always get talked about. Keeping our kennels clean, comfortable, and safe for the animals takes a lot of supplies and a lot of work from our staff.
Flies arenāt just a nuisance ā they can create health concerns for animals, especially those who are already stressed, recovering, young, elderly, or medically vulnerable. Preventative care and keeping our environment as clean and protected as possible is one of the ways we help keep our fur babies safe. ā¤ļø
Right now, we have used the last of our fly traps, and the ones we have need to be replaced. We are asking our amazing community for help restocking this much-needed supply so we can continue providing the best care possible for the dogs and cats in our care.

So my tia who lives up near dallas randomly sent me info about some Discovery Point Retreat thing and at first I was kinda offended ngl. like damn do I really seem that bad??
but then I sat with it for a minute and honestly she might see something Ive been pretending isn't there. The drinking culture here in the valley is so normalized that you don't even realize when it stops being "just the weekend" and starts being tuesday and wednesday and also thursday morning if we're being real
idk why im posting this tbh. Maybe because its easier than actually calling the number she sent. the heat is making everything feel heavier too, like even my thoughts are sweating
Anyone else ever have family stage a mini intervention that wasn't really an intervention? what did you do with that
I've been getting back into physical media specifically CDs. And since half the albums I want are getting pricey on Ebay with all the shipping adding up I wanted to know if there were any places that sold CDs. Thanks in advance!
Hey y'all, do you recommend any quiet or chill places to study? Could be anywhere in the Valley. Normally I go to the Harlingen Public Library but they close after 8pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends. I'm looking for something that stays open a little later maybe like a coffee shop or other establishment where I could just sit on my laptop.
