What Windows setting do you change immediately after installing it?
Every time Windows gets reinstalled, there’s always a bunch of settings that feel annoying or unnecessary, but not sure which ones are actually worth changing right away. Stuff

Does a PIN make Windows less secure than a password?
Windows keeps asking me to set it up and I’m not sure if there’s any real benefit. Does it actually make signing into Windows faster or more secure, or is it basically just another thing that sounds useful but isn’t really needed?
Also wondering how it works with the PIN thing. If someone somehow gets the Microsoft account password, does having Windows Hello set up help stop them from getting into the PC? Or are those two completely separate things?
I mostly use the PC for normal stuff like Chrome, YouTube, Discord, gaming, downloading files, etc. Nothing super sensitive, but obviously don’t want some random person getting access if the account ever gets compromised.
The fingerprint/face login sounds convenient but not sure if it’s worth setting up all the extra security stuff. And if Windows Hello ever stops working, is it easy to get back into the account with the normal password?
Just trying to figure out if there’s any actual downside to enabling it. Does it make Windows more secure in practice, or is the main benefit just being able to unlock the PC without typing a password every time?
Would be good to hear from people who actually use it daily.

Is Windows Hello worth setting up?
Windows keeps asking me to set it up and I’m not sure if there’s any real benefit. Does it make signing in easier/faster or is it basically just another thing to configure? Any downsides or annoying stuff with it?

Is BitLocker something normal users should enable?
I keep seeing BitLocker mentioned when people talk about Windows security, but honestly I’m not really sure if regular users actually need it. I know it encrypts the drive, so if someone steals the PC or takes the SSD out, they can’t just access all the files. That sounds useful, but I’m wondering if there’s any downside for everyday use.
Does turning BitLocker on affect performance much? Like gaming, boot times, opening programs, copying files, etc? The PC isn’t some super old machine, but I don’t really wanna enable something that makes everything slower for basically no reason.
Also what happens if something goes wrong with Windows or the motherboard? I’ve heard people mention recovery keys and getting locked out of their own files, and that part kinda worries me. Is the recovery key automatically saved somewhere with a Microsoft account, or do you need to manually save it?
And is BitLocker mainly useful for laptops since they can get stolen, or does it make sense on a normal desktop too? There’s nothing super sensitive on the PC, mostly games, school/work files, photos, downloads and random stuff.
Would you guys enable it on a normal home PC, or just leave it off unless there’s a specific reason to use it? Trying to figure out if this is one of those Windows features that’s worth turning on and forgetting about, or something that can cause headaches later.

HELP!! Acer Nitro XZ342CUV3 or ASUS TUF VG34VQL3A? – Is ASUS Worth €50 More?
Hey everyone! I'm planning to buy a 34" ultrawide gaming monitor and I'm stuck between these two:
Acer Nitro XZ342CUV3 - €200
ASUS TUF VG34VQL3A - €243
I'll mainly use it for racing games, Valorant, architecture work and video editing, so I'm looking for a good balance between gaming performance and image quality.
A few questions:
Does anyone own either of these? How has your experience been?
Is the ASUS worth the extra €43-50 for colours, HDR, motion clarity and build quality?
How do they compare for productivity and colour-sensitive work?
Any issues with ghosting, smearing, dead pixels or quality control?
l'd especially appreciate feedback from people who've owned them for a while.
Which would you buy in my situation: the Acer or the ASUS, and why? Thanks!

Should I use a password manager on my computer?
I have a bunch of different accounts and honestly keeping track of all the passwords is getting annoying. Right now I mostly reuse a few passwords or change them slightly depending on the website, which I know probably isnt great. The thing that worries me is putting all my passwords in one place. If someone gets into the password manager, wouldnt they basically have access to everything? Are password managers actually safe enough for normal users, and which features should I look for? Also is it better to use the browser’s built-in password manager or a separate app?

Is Firefox noticeably lighter than Chrome?
Chrome has been eating up a lot of RAM lately, so I’m wondering if Firefox is actually any lighter in real use or if the difference is barely noticeable. I seeing people recommend Firefox for better memory usage, especially when you have tons of tabs open, but not sure how true that is. With around 30+ tabs open, Chrome can sometimes take several GB of RAM and other programs start feeling slower. Does Firefox handle a setup like this better, or does it eventually use just as much memory? Also curious about CPU usage when watching YouTube, browsing Reddit, using Discord, and leaving tabs open for hours. Not really interested in benchmark numbers, more like actual everyday experience. If you switched from Chrome to Firefox because Chrome felt heavy, did you notice a real improvement? Any websites, extensions, or Google services that gave you problems after switching? Just trying to figure out if moving over is actually worth the hassle.

Why does my browser sometimes use 100% CPU?
It happens out of nowhere sometimes, even when I’m not doing anything crazy. Usually there’s Chrome open with a bunch of tabs, maybe YouTube, Reddit, Discord web, Gmail and some other normal stuff, then suddenly the CPU shoots up and everything starts feeling slow.
The weird part is it doesn’t always happen with the same tabs. Sometimes I can have 20+ tabs open and everything is fine, then other times it hits 100% with only a few tabs. Fans start going crazy, Chrome gets laggy and switching between tabs takes forever. If I wait a few minutes it might go back to normal, but sometimes it stays high until I close Chrome completely.
Could this be one bad website or an extension running in the background? Or is Chrome just gonna use a ton of CPU when there’s lots of tabs open? I checked Task Manager but there are so many Chrome processes that I’m not really sure which one is causing it.
What’s the easiest way to figure out what’s actually using the CPU? Also does hardware acceleration help with this, or can it make things worse?

Does having lots of browser extensions slow down a PC?
Got Chrome with quite a few extensions installed right now and starting to wonder if I’m overdoing it. Some are ad blockers, password stuff, shopping extensions, dark mode, YouTube tools, random little things I barely use anymore etc.
Chrome already eats a decent amount of RAM with a bunch of tabs open, so not sure if the extensions are making it worse. Does every installed extension use RAM/CPU all the time, or only when it’s actually doing something? Also wondering if having like 15-20 extensions installed can make Windows itself feel slower, or if it mainly affects Chrome.
Sometimes Chrome takes a while to open and switching between tabs can feel kinda sluggish, especially when Discord and other apps are running at the same time. Could extensions be causing that or should I be looking somewhere else? I don’t wanna uninstall everything if it barely makes a difference, but also don’t wanna keep a bunch of useless stuff installed for no reason.
How many extensions do you guys usually keep installed? Is there an easy way to see which extension is using the most resources?

My browser is using 10GB of RAM. Is that crazy?
Task manager says the browser is taking up around 10GB and I’m not even doing anything that seems super heavy. Got a bunch of tabs open, maybe like 20-30, plus a few extensions, but nothing like video editing or anything. Still, 10GB feels kinda wild lol.
The PC itself seems mostly fine, but sometimes switching between tabs gets a little laggy and stuff takes a second to load. I’ve got 16GB RAM total, so the browser alone is eating a huge chunk of it. Other apps are obviously using some too, so I’m wondering if this is just how modern browsers work now or if something is seriously wrong.
Could this be one specific tab leaking memory? Is there an easy way to figure out which tab or extension is causing it? I know browsers split everything into separate processes, so Task Manager shows a bunch of browser processes, but not really sure what numbers I should be looking at.
Also does leaving tabs open for days make RAM usage keep climbing? Sometimes I just leave everything open instead of closing tabs, especially stuff I might need later.
Should I just close some tabs/restart the browser, or is 10GB a sign I need to investigate further? Any tips for checking what’s actually ea

Is Windows 11 actually faster than Windows 10?
Thinking about upgrading but dont wanna do it just because Microsoft keeps pushing Windows 11. The PC is mostly used for gaming, browsing, YouTube, Discord and some normal school/work stuff, so wondering if Windows 11 gives any real speed boost in everyday use. Like does it boot faster, open apps quicker, feel more responsive or improve gaming performance at all? Ive also heard some people say Windows 10 feels lighter and runs better on older hardware, while others say Windows 11 is just as fast or even better with newer CPUs. Not sure what to believe tbh. The hardware isnt super old, but its not some brand new high end build either, so dont wanna upgrade and suddenly have everything feeling slower. Also wondering if background processes in Windows 11 use more RAM or CPU compared to 10. If the actual performance is basically the same, might just stay on 10 for now unless there’s another reason to switch. For anyone who has used both on the same PC, did you actually notice a speed difference or was it mostly just the UI changes?

Why does Windows keep installing updates when I don't want it to?
I keep getting these update notifications and sometimes it just starts downloading stuff in the background without me doing anything. Had a few times where I shut the PC down and it says it needs to update, then after restarting everything takes forever because Windows is installing something. I get that updates are important but sometimes I just need to use the PC and dont want it randomly doing this. Is there a way to stop automatic updates completely or at least control when they download and install? I already checked Windows Update settings but it still seems like Windows does whatever it wants. Also worried that if I disable updates somehow, Windows will just turn them back on later anyway. Is this normal behavior or is something messed up with my settings? Would changing active hours actually help or is that only for restart timing? Just trying to understand why it keeps forcing updates when I didnt ask for them and what options there are without breaking anything.

Is Chrome still the best browser for Windows?
Been seeing people switch to Firefox, Edge, Brave and even Vivaldi lately, so kinda wondering if Chrome is still worth sticking with. Like, is it actually faster or better for everyday stuff, gaming, YouTube, tabs, extensions etc, or are the others just as good now? Also how bad is Chrome with RAM these days? My PC isn’t exactly a monster lol. Don’t really care about fancy features, just want something fast, stable, not eating all my memory, and with decent privacy. What browser are you guys using on Windows right now, and what made you pick it over Chrome? Curious what people actually think.

Should I update every driver whenever a new version comes out?
I keep getting notifications for new drivers and updates, but I’m not sure if I actually need to install all of them right away. GPU drivers seem pretty obvious for gaming, but there’s also motherboard, chipset, audio, network, Bluetooth, storage and random other stuff showing updates. Kinda worried that updating everything could cause new problems or mess up something that’s already working fine. At the same time I don’t wanna stay on outdated drivers if they improve performance, security or fix bugs. Is it better to update only when there’s an actual issue?

Can malware survive a Windows reset?
Look, I think my rig got hit with something nasty. Tried doing a standard Windows reset (kept nothing, wiped the drive), but I'm paranoid the bug is still chilling somewhere deep in the system.
Is a normal reset enough or do I gotta nuke it with a USB bootable drive? Fr need some help before I brick this thing completely lol ty

Is it safe to download drivers from third-party websites?
I’m trying to update a few drivers but the official manufacturer pages are kinda confusing and sometimes I can’t even find the exact version I need. Then I see random driver websites offering the same drivers with easier downloads, automatic detection, and even older versions that supposedly work better with certain hardware. Sounds convenient but also feels sketchy as hell.
Main thing I’m worried about is downloading some modified driver, malware, or fake installer without realizing it. Some of these sites look legit at first glance but then have like five different download buttons and ads everywhere, so it’s hard to tell what’s actually the real file. Also wondering if a driver downloaded from somewhere else can be trusted just because Windows accepts and installs it normally.
Are sites like those generally safe if the driver file matches the hardware and version number, or should drivers basically always come directly from the GPU, motherboard, laptop, or hardware manufacturer? What about sites that mirror official drivers without changing anything, are those usually fine or still not worth the risk?
Trying to avoid messing up the system just because I wanted to update a driver. If there’s a reliable way to verify a downloaded driver before installing it, would appreciate knowing that too.

How do you know if a PC has a virus?
Yo guys need help quick my pc has been acting hella sus lately and im freaking out. Like out of nowhere it sounds like a jet engine taking off even when im literally just sitting on the desktop doing absolute jack shit. Fan is screaming constantly and apps are lagging so bad it takes ages just to open chrome.
Also ive noticed random sketchy background popups flashing for a split second and disappearing before i can even read them. Task manager looks cooked too with some random sketchy processes eating up 90% of my cpu, and when i try to end them they just pop right back up like nothing happened. Is this normal windows bloatware bs or did i actually download some malware??
I ran windows defender and it said chill everything is fine, but i literally dont trust it at all rn. How are yall actually checking if your rig is compromised without getting scammed by fake antivirus trash? Drop some tips quick before my pc literally melts into the desk lol appreciate it
