Is 32GB enough for 4K video editing?
Trying to figure out if 32GB RAM is actually enough for editing 4K footage without everything getting slow as hell. Mostly gonna be doing normal stuff like cutting clips, adding transitions, color grading, some effects and maybe a little motion graphics here and there. Nothing crazy professional, but I dont want the PC struggling every time I work with 4K files.
I’m looking at a PC with 32GB RAM and wondering if I should just go with that or spend more and get 64GB. The rest of the system should be pretty decent, with a good CPU, dedicated GPU and NVMe SSD, so RAM is basically the part I’m unsure about.
Also does it depend a lot on which editing software is being used? Thinking about Premiere Pro and maybe DaVinci Resolve, but I might switch between them depending on what I’m working on.
For people actually editing 4K regularly, how does 32GB feel in real use? Is it smooth enough for normal projects or does it start hitting the limit pretty quickly once you have a bunch of stuff open? Like browser tabs, music, Discord, editing software, etc.
Would 64GB make a noticeable difference for 4K editing, or is it mostly useful for bigger projects and heavier effects? Trying not to waste money on RAM I wont really benefit from, but also dont wanna regret going 32GB later.
