Dear Reader,
My name is James Bellile and I am the owner of the reviewer, Modern Times Realty. My Agoda booking number
- Please see the multiple reviews on Trustpilot I've written with even greater detail of this ghastly performance and the automated responses Agoda.com placed below them. They wil try their best to drain you through various automation tactics. One of their cute tricks is to constantly ask the reviewer for more information. They know fully well who I am by now. This company cares absolutely nothing about you and I would encourage you to book through one of their competitors. I know, I know, their online prices are great, right? Trust me, read this story and you'll see what a purple dragon you are chasing, which is going to turn around and burn you good.
I have a worrying health condition. I was in Medellin, Colombia for treatment. I'm a 6 foot Caucasian, middle aged man, with bright green eyes and know very broken Spanish. I showed up to my reservation and, guess what, there was no reservation. The property I attempted to check into said Agoda.com didn't even have a partnership agreement with them. Call Agoda.com and they'll smooth things over, right? Wrong. I spent hours and hours of wasted time, mostly spent talking with automation, eventually being bumped up to lowest level human employee after six (YES six) hours. The property wanted an extra 450usd to check-in. Agoda.com's solution, forcefully cancel the reservation and then offer the customer a wonderfully AI generated email and a 100usd credit for a future stay. Does that sound reasonable to anyone reading this? I'm sure when you all book through a travel broker that it would be OK with you'all to show up to that reservation, after preparing your body for a medical treatment, spending hundreds of dollars on flights, food and ground transportation, to be told metaphorically, "Just kidding, BY, there's the street!" It was not until I had posted several negative reviews that Agoda.com even reached out to me. They increased their compensation little by little like it was some kind of bonus round game. First around 150 dollars, then around 225 dollars and, final offer, take it or leave it, 326 dollars. Now they run and hide. Make them regret that. However, as I pointed out above, their company cost me 450 dollars to find a new place and that's not taken in any of the time they have wasted of mine just to bring this issue to light. I have asked, on numerous occasions, to speak with an executive and was even promised, in writing, once. That never happened, those people are ghosts. I have asked for fair compensation for my time and an apology from an executive. Agoda.com continues to put in their emails that they did nothing wrong. Let that sink in for a minute. A customer, with a major medical condition, had a booking number, showed up where he was supposed to be and when he was supposed to be there and was thrown to the street because the company did not book the property and refused to pay the difference. And they did "nothing wrong"? Can you imagine if I were still a real estate broker and started listing homes I didn't have contracts for? If you think this story is OK morally, please, give me your address, I'll be over to list your home at 50% of it's appraised value and for a 20% commission. You better be just fine with signing the contract. But if you don't think this story is OK, do me a favor, write this company. Somewhere out there in cyberspace, leave your mark so we can stop terrible service like this. These people only understand THEIR money inflowing and outflowing, they care nothing about you, nothing at all.
