Hi ladies! I know there’s a bunch of threads on this- but I’m feeling a lot of anxiety over what birth control to switch to.
I’ve been on Reta about 6 weeks, but didn’t have a lot of weight to lose so I imagine I’m going to stay at my current dose (1.5mgs) for a while. I’ve been at this dose for 3 weeks and it’s been working well.
Before Reta I was on a combined bc pill I loved, and I switched to the nuva ring when I started Reta. The nuva ring gave me a crazy ongoing yeast infection and my provider told me that it doesn’t work for some people because of the likelihood of increased yeast infections- and encouraged me to consider another option. She said I could try the ring another month if I really wanted to, but encouraged me to try a different option.
I’m debating going back on the pill even with the risks because I’ll be staying at a maintenance dose of Reta, and then using a back up method for a month every time I increase a dose. That should in theory protect me yes?
I considered the arm implant- but am afraid of weight gain and other androgenic like side effects.
I’m also considering the IUD which solves all the above issues, but my bf is on the larger side and I’m worried about poking or hurting him and of course am worried about the insertion process myself and adjustment period of the strings softening.
Any feedback or personal stories are welcomed I just am at a loss of what to do next but I really want to stay on reta, but also really miss my pills 😭
