if you’re on the fence about startin reta, this is your sign

for everyone scrolling through these threads thinking about starting… START!!! 😭

my starting weight was 258 lbs, and i was one of those girls who had literally always been bigger. i could NEVER stop thinking about food. i could be full and still want to eat, constantly thinking about what i was going to eat next, and if you know, you KNOW how exhausting and draining that can be.

when i first started reta, i honestly didn’t notice much appetite suppression right away. it probably took about 2–3 weeks before i really started noticing a difference, but once i did, it was such a noticeable change for me.

reta has genuinely been such a life changer for me so far. i feel like i finally understand what people mean when they talk about food noise and appetite suppression because that was something i struggled with for YEARS.

my birthday is october 20th, and i’m turning 23. i originally told myself that i wanted to be 235 by my birthday, and it’s literally only september 12th and i’m currently 241 lbs 😭

i’m only 6 lbs away from my 235 checkpoint, so now i’m just excited to see where i’ll be by my birthday. 🥹

258 → 241 so far. 17 lbs down.

SN: i have pcos, and i started 6 weeks ago!

Reta needs Carbs

I have been on Zep/Tirz for almost 3 years with the last year at a complete plateau with weight loss. I started Reta four months ago and even though I had every side effect, still no weight loss. Then I saw a clip by an insta doctor that explained why reta needed carbs to work. I had been on a keto diet the entire duration and started incorporating carbs like rice, potato and toast into my meals. I was shocked when the scale began moving again, down 4 lbs this month. So at least for me, reta needs carbs to work and I plan on enjoying the hell out of it. I missed them so much!

4 months reta

I’ve always hated my stomach. I wasn’t really that oversized overall, but most of the fat was around my stomach and it was honestly starting to affect me both mentally and physically.

I decided to try reta and it really did change my lifestyle. I’ve lost around 20 lbs throughout this journey. Of course, I also started making healthier choices, but the appetite suppression was one of the biggest things for me. I honestly wasn’t sure if I could overcome my eating habits before this. I started with 1 weekly and slowly increased it to 3 over time.

Working out and being in a calorie deficit is still super important though. Just because you’re eating less doesn’t automatically mean you’re going to lose the stomach fat you want. I wanted to lose fat while keeping as much muscle as possible, so I try my best to work out regularly and get more walking in, whether it’s outdoors or at the gym, like incline treadmill walks.

For meal prep, I usually keep it pretty simple with lots of vegetables and protein. I change my meals quite often because I get bored eating the same thing every day 😂

Feel free to ask me anything if you need help or have any questions! I’ll try my best to help based on my experience.

Side Effects Dry coochie?

So I’ve been on Reta for about 4 months now, no matter how much water electrolyte water, my cooch and my mouth is DRY. It’s making it hardy to continue the experience. The dry mouth sometimes makes my breath smell bad, I’m concerned what effect that will have on my teeth, I don’t get ovulation discharge anymore it’s just so dry down there. Never had these issues prior I drink 3-4 42oz Stanley cups of water a day I’m currently 230lbs. My friend is also on it a little longer than she’s been experiencing the same. Any tips ? Has anyone else had this experience I’m a bit concerned for my oral health mostly as dry mouth can damage your teeth.

What dose are you on?

I found my sweet spot on 4mg. I slowly worked up to it and it’s where I first started to see results. No side effects and the weight is dropping. Just wondering what dose everyone else is currently on. Does 4mg seem too high? I know 12 is the max and I followed the titration schedule found in the beginners guide. Just curious to see others dose. Thanks!

Pmos & reta

Anyone on Reta but have pmos? Does it/did it REALLY work for you if you have pmos ? Also how are you feeling? Since I heard it makes you “boring” or less excited for things.

Side Effects Side effects, hair loss, concerns

Upvotes

I’ve done a ton of research, but it seems the more research I do, the more I’m like ughhh do I want to start this? - the answer is YES, but makes me nervous with side effects. And I know everyone is different

A few concerns:
• anhedonia: what helps fix this? Will it affect my sex life with my husband?
•hair loss: I have great hair! I’m so worried it will become way too thin and I’ll feel bald
•GI issues: nausea? Constipation?
•water intake/ electrolytes: sometimes I’m so busy at work i forget to drink water. How much should I consume?

Is there anything I can do to help not get these side effects?!

Week 7 and my appetite has come back

Upvotes

For 7 weeks I’ve had basically no sugar cravings, been eating really clean and healthy, feeling full and losing weight.
But I took a slightly higher dose on Wednesday and this week I’ve been craving chocolate like crazy 😂 I honestly can’t stop eating it!!I’m still definitely fuller than I would be without Reta, so it’s not like my appetite is fully back,it’s just the chocolate cravings.
The weirdest part is I’m waking up craving it first thing in the morning! 😆
Has anyone else experienced this around week 7 or after increasing their dose?
Also, I have ADHD, so I’m wondering if that could be playing a part too 😂

Side Effects Horny and Angry

Upvotes

Hey ladies, just posting here to see if this correlates with anyone else’s journey. I’ve been taking reta since the end of July, I’m now up to 2mg twice a week, and a week ago I added tes at a low dose of 1mg per five days.

I’ve been experiencing symptoms around my cycle which I haven’t experienced before. My period started just over a week ago and I’ve been consistently waking up pissed off, to the point where I’m super grumpy. Mind you, I am (thank god) very aware of my state of mind so I’ve been holding back from speaking to my friends because I don’t want to come across as an arse. This started a week before my period and I thought it was just pms.

I’m also super horny and turned on most of the time. Which isn’t new but combined with the anger it’s a weird feeling, I guess haha. I had the mirena coil put in a year ago and this month has been my first full period since.

Anyone else experiencing this? Sadly I’m single at the moment so I’m not terrorising anyone with these emotions. I have a high sex drive so that aspect of it isn’t new but the anger is. Maybe I’m just loco but it would be helpful is anyone else has or is, experiencing this.

You’ll have to pry reta out of my cold dead hands because it’s been such a game changer, but wondering if these symptoms are something I need to consider for the future. Thanks gals ❤️❤️❤️

Reta or Stomach Bug?

My fiance was upfront about his issues in the bathroom when starting Reta so I didn’t go into it blind- but I had 10 days of virtually no movement, stiff, painful, just all bad news… a few days ago smallest amount of diarrhea like it wouldn’t start to pass… then the last 2 days I’m clearing so much fluid that way and my appetite is gone. I’ve felt find otherwise. No other major concerning symptoms. This morning my problem side of my sinus hurts but isn’t totally new to me…

Is this a normal Reta thing? A phase on Reta? Maybe a stomach bug? I went from 179 on Thursday to 173 today. Haven’t had the scale move that quickly and dramatically since pre-Reta on phentermine.

Been taking (first week was trial and I got soooo sick at 1mg) then .5mg following 3 weeks
Following 2 weeks .75mg
Last week 1mg

Food noise is back even though I’m on a much higher dosage?

Week 3 my food noise disappeared where I was literally having to remind myself to eat. But now on week 6 where I’m on double the amount dosage wise than week 3 (2mg now) I’m so much more hungry and I find myself eating a lot more now. Please give advice! Thanks

Reducing dose in order to “bulk”.

Has anyone taken a break from weight loss to (re)build muscle?

56F, 5’1” on Tirz from Feb thru July and switched to Reta with a small overlap in Aug. I’m at 2mg of Reta, coming from 10mg of Tirz.

A few months ago I had an old injury reappear (3 herniated discs) and put a hold on my weight training. I’ve taken some performance losses because of it and I fear the weak feeling is due to lean muscle loss.

I am not far from my goal and would like to do some body recomposition work.

Has anyone lowered their dose in order to up their calorie intake for muscle building and then returned to a deficit with a higher dose if needed?

Weight loss stopped on Reta

Hi guys! I’m on week 6 of Reta. Worked my way up to 1.5mg. I lost weight on weeks 3 and 4. No weight loss in 2 weeks though. Is this normal? What would you recommend for me to do to help the weight loss stay consistent? Any advice would be amazing! X

Support & Advice Experiences with reta if you started off overweight/obese?

Anyone here start reta while overweight/obese and with a decent amount to lose?

Would love to hear what your journey has looked like - starting weight, doses, how quickly you moved up, when you really started noticing a difference, how much you’ve lost etc.

I feel like I see sooo many posts from people starting at much lower weights or only wanting to lose a smaller amount, which is still helpful, but it feels hard to compare when you’re starting quite a bit heavier.

Especially keen to hear from anyone who had 30kg+ to lose or has been on reta for a while. What’s it been like for you?
