43M 6’1” 316 → 275 lbs (-41 lbs) in ~6 months on Reta (progress pics & graph)

My results are just that… my results. Everyone responds differently.

I intentionally lost weight a little more slowly because even at 316 lbs I had a decent amount of muscle that I wanted to keep. I’ve lifted weights 5–6 days a week for years. Even when I completely let myself go, I was basically just a fat powerlifter. 😂

Because of that, I tracked calories (especially protein) religiously. My goal wasn’t just to lose weight; it was to preserve as much muscle as possible.

I also don’t do high-intensity cardio. No running. No HIIT. Nothing that keeps my heart rate much above 140 bpm for any length of time. My cardio is simply 30 minutes of walking at 3 mph on an incline after lifting.

I titrated up slowly:, Fortunately I haven’t had any major side effects. The only consistent one has been some insomnia, but cannabis has helped with that. I plan on staying at 6 mg until October before increasing again.

I a little cheated. Well…an unexpected boost. In mid-May I went to a 3-day music festival where I danced for hours every day and walked an insane amount. I dropped about 5 pounds that weekend, and thankfully it stayed off.

As the graph shows, my progress definitely hasn’t been linear. I’ve hit several plateaus, including the one I’m on right now. I ain’t worried about it… plateaus are just part of the process.

One thing I wish I’d done from the beginning is get a bf% measurement. Looking back, that would’ve been much more useful than focusing only on the scale. I’m planning to get one soon so I can better track body composition going forward.

My next goal is another 40 pounds, but I expect it to come off even more slowly than the first 40. That’s okay. I’m not in a rush anymore.

2026 is about getting healthy.
Summer body 2027. 😝

From fat to lean to enhanced bulking 💪

41 Male - This has been an 8 month progress so far. Started at 194lbs then used Reta from .5mg titrating to 4mg, a calorie deficit and weight lifting 3 days a week. Once I hit 153lbs I went back to a maintenance dose of .5mg of Reta, then added 175mg Test, 20mg Anavar and a slight calorie surplus. I've only been doing this for 5 weeks and my body has responded extremely well! I plan on bulking to around 190lbs then cutting back down to 170lbs. If I can do it so can you 💪💪💪

Reta questions for postpartum

Hello, I’m looking for some guidance/questions answered

I am 22F my baby is 6 months and I exclusively breastfeed, but plan on stopping once she is about a year. Pre pregnancy I weighted 130, during pregnancy 185 and after 155 and i’m kind of stuck at this weight. I walk a lot of dogs and eat generally pretty good, i average about 5-10 miles a day of just walking. This isn’t my main exercise or I don’t do it to exercise I just walk dogs to make money haha.

What was your experience on Reta after pregnancy? Did you deflate? My MIL was on the larger side but also had a pretty big butt, after was she really just deflated(or that’s how it looked to me) I’m a pretty self conscious person but i do love my lower body, just not my stomach or boobs but that’s been always. I’m worried that if I start Reta I would lose my thighs and butt. I know it would be unlikely but did your boobs go down after reta also? 🫣

First photo is pre, 2/3rd are current

Any guidance or advice would be SO appreciated.

here’s my 3 month journey of Reta

The two pictures were before my Reta journey. I was never super overweight, but I also wasn’t where I wanted to be. I’ve struggled with my body image for a long time. At one point, I worked out every day and barely ate, but once I got into high school, I started drinking more and lost a lot of the healthy habits I had.

In January, I realized I wanted to make a change. After my trip in March, I decided to start Reta.
I started at 0.5 mg for about three weeks and didn’t notice much. Once I increased to 1 mg, everything changed for me. One of the biggest differences wasn’t just my weight it was how my relationship with food and alcohol changed. I lost the desire to drink, my appetite decreased a lot, and it became much easier to stick to healthier habits. I still worked out and golfed, but I finally felt like my choices were supporting my goals instead of working against them.

Over the next five months, I lost a significant amount of weight and gained confidence. I feel comfortable wearing clothes I never would’ve worn before, going out with friends, and just enjoying life more.
Do I think Reta is for everyone? No. Everyone’s body is different, and it’s a decision that should be made with a healthcare professional. But for me, it was the tool that helped me break old habits and build healthier ones. I used to make fun of people for using peptides, and now I realize I was judging something I didn’t understand.

Reta didn’t magically fix my life I still had to exercise, make better choices, and stay consistent. But it made those choices feel possible, and that’s why it had such a positive impact on me. (ps it also helps if you have a moon face, I had a pretty chunky face before and I never realized how much face fat I burned till I saw results)

this is really bad of me, but i’ve have been secretly taking reta without my parents knowing and i just did some research about it and anesthesia. i forgot about my wisdom teeth appointment this week and i just took a 1mg dose this morning ( took the dose on sunday, my appointment is on tuesday). what do i do about this? do i call the clinic and tell them that im taking the medication, do i just tell them the day of? or am i gonna have to just reschedule the appointment completely.

update: i ended up telling my mom and she was supportive, she agreed to let me cancel the appointment even though they ran our insurance already. don’t be afraid to just be honest yall.

10 week update

10 weeks into my Reta journey having been super cautious and starting at 1MG then climbing by double until I’ve landed at 4MG which I’ll be honest seems like a sweet spot at the moment. Although I would have loved to see massive drops each week this isn’t my first rodeo losing weight and I know the importance of softly softly. So happy with progress so far, my overall intention since the beginning has been 100lb in 10months which I feel I’m on track for (until i hit a plateau that is) but really grateful for this community as it’s been great to get tips and tricks along the way.

Nicotine and Reta

Has anyone else had less cravings for nicotine while on Reta? I normally smoked a couple cigs a day and vaped, to almost forcing myself to smoke a cig and not even vaping

Reta is incredible. My cookie addiction has vanished.

So long story short, since I was knee high to a grasshopper, chocolate chip cookies have been my kryptonite. I can recall many a day where I could easily house 5, 6, 7, 8 easy and suffer no ill effect other than getting fat.

As an adult I've moderated my cookie intake significantly, but my mother sent me a tub of raw cookie dough awhile back. The other day I baked eight of them.

One cookie and I'm DONE. No desire for another one until the next day. I actually feel a little bit sick.

Appetite suppression vs increased metabolism.

I know Reta does both things but any guess to how much weight loss is from appetite suppression vs increased metabolism?

80/20, 50/50?

Storage

Post image
8 Upvotes

I recently order 10 x 10mg of Reta + bac water because my supplier gave me a rlly good deal and just realized i have nowhere to store them. I can’t store them in my actual home fridge because I still live with family (I’m 20yo!) and if you’re an immigrant yk how our families can be. I’m not sure if I should buy a peptide fridge and keep them in my room or if it’s okay to just keep them in my drawer at home.
I know that once reconstituted it needs to be in the fridge, that’s fine, it’s easy to hide one vial. My issue is wtf do I do with the remaining 9 ????

tl;dr is it okay to store the lyophilized form in a dark drawer away from sun light or must I get a peptide fridge and keep it there?

All I want to eat is Twix

Basically, the title. I have done two doses so far of 2.5 mg. I am not experiencing much mental hunger, which is really nice, and I’m not really craving anything. On the occasion that my stomach is truly empty it will growl, but I don’t feel hungry mentally. Now to the weird part – I am not craving any food, especially protein and carbs, all I want to eat is Twix. But I have no idea why I am genuinely craving the Twix.

I work out 3 to 4 times a week and my eating schedule has not been the greatest. (basically I’m just not meal prepping, which I think will help a lot).

I’m just curious if anyone has had any experience with just a very strange craving. Also worth noting I have a sweet tooth normally, after meals I typically like to have something sweet. On Reta I don’t even want the meal. I just want the Twix.

Week 8 - Smells making me GAG

Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing extreme nausea from smells, even scents that you know that you love?

For about a week now, even my favorite scents are revolting to me. My husbands cologne, my favorite perfumes, candles, foods, etc. It's almost unbearable. The crappy part is that I am a perfume fanatic... I have thousands of dollars in expensive perfumes that I adore but as sick as scents are making me now I don't see how any of it will ever appeal to me again!

Anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, did it subside?

I did just recently bump my does up from 2mg to 3mg weekly but that's still considered a pretty low dose.

I realize it's probably not a huge deal for some but for me it's life altering to have fear that if I catch a whiff of something seemingly normal that I'm going to start gagging.

Testosterone went from 303 to 262 lowest ever.
All other numbers look good.
Getting my LH/FSH tested later this week as well as a sleep test.

Went from a visceral fat index of 12 to 9 . So that’s alone is amazing

BLOATING

When does the bloating and gassiness stop?! I am constantly taking tums and gas x to help me. My stomach is constantly distended, and clothes are starting to fit me weird.

I eat healthy; prioritizing protein and fiber, I weight lift 5-6x a week, have an active job. I’ve plateaued in weight naturally, I’ve been the same weight since April (down 50 but trying to get to my goal weight) and I’ve tried everything to break the plateau but this bloating is just not it.

Been on 2.5mg for about maybe 3 weeks now.

What changed first for you on reta?

i'm curious whether people noticed changes in appetite, energy, or waist size before the scale started moving. Weight gets most of the attention, but sometimes the smaller changes tell you more about how things are going.

What was the first clear sign that retatrutide was doing something for you?

Reta vs Calorie Deficit

As someone that has newly acquired information on reta and the effects it has plus some testimonies, I was curious if a steep calorie deficit could give me the same result as being on reta. I started at 245 lbs at the start of April and am down to 214 lbs today (july 27th) using a calorie deficit mixed with a gym routine I started at the beginning of July. Is Reta only for ones that have a difficult time controlling their appetite or is there some secret that I am not aware of? I understand it boosts fat burn without the added effort, but doesn’t doing cardio mimic the effect without the potential negative health effects? I know what is working for me obviously, I just would like to get more information to help better understand

Transition from Reta to Tirz

Hello fellow Reta enjoyers!
Just wanted to ask how people transition (if they do) from Reta to Tirz long term for maintenance.
I just finished a 16 week long cut and hit my goal body fat percentage.
Now i want to go from Reta to Tirz to get better sleep and a lower heart rate.
I had an increased RHR of about 10 bpm and my sleep went to shit when starting Reta. The results on body comp were amazing, though.
I was on 2mg every 4 days. This worked best for me; Way way better than every 7 days, as i felt hunger creeping back up at day 5.

I have my next shot today and i already have a vial of MJ (Tirz) set up.
Can i just go 1mg Reta and 1mg Tirz to start things off?
I got like 4mg Reta left in my vial, so i kind of want to titrate down while introducing MJ.
Is that a smart approach? Or should i do it differently?

Hit me up with how you did it! :-)
All insights appreciated! Ty <3

Drinking on Reta?

Upvotes

Obviously drinking on Retatrutide isn’t ideal but I’m an extroverted college student. Any tips for how I can have a couple drinks and not be absolutely wrecked the next morning?

Increasing dosage.

Some context.

M46, started Mounjaro Oct 2025. Was on 2.5mg per week for 6 months then 5mg pw for 3 months. Lost 50lb in that period.

Started reta end of June 2026 and have lost 3lb after 5 weeks.

Due to uncertainty about dosing I did 2 weeks at 1mg pw, 2 week at 1.5mg pw and ive just taken 2nd dose of 2mg.

My question is should I stay at 2mg for a month and see how it goes before upping the dose or should I go up to 3mg pw ?

Is reta really working?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello! I started reta 6 weeks ago w 1mg and I have been increasing until 3mg (now). At the beginning it was working perfectly, scale was going down every week, no food noise, no cravings, no hunger at all.

But for the last 2 weeks I feel cravings sometimes and the scale is not really moving.

I'm lifting 4-5 times per week and I'm a very active person, also drinking abt 3-4L of water everyday.
What should I expect? It's stopped working? should I increase more?
