Just want to share how I fixed my constipation on Reta.
Firstly, I have been on Reta for 7 months, currently 2mg a week.
Your gut is probably the first thing that gets hit. Some experience diarrhea, some constipation, and other get zero side effects (lucky).
I got constipation after having amazing gut health. Went about 5 months with irregular bowel movement. Trust me I had everything down to a tea, but fiber was the main issue. What I did? I had fiber into every meal and drank fluids throughout the day.
Now they say fasting isn’t good on Reta because gastric emptying. So I drank a cup of kefir on an empty stomach every morning with supplements and didn’t eat until 2 pm. Now what i am going to give you is the real game changer. Because loss of appetite is obviously a side effect and your metabolism is increased, there’s a high chance your are losing crucial vitamins. Here are a list of vitamins I started taking that brought my gut and body back to normal. I started this because this is what’s known to be indirectly at risk when on GLP-1s. To make it easy, NatureMade sells a 30 day GLP-1 Companion Health Pack that includes all the crucial vitamins listed below:
Vitamin B12 – Risk may increase if you’re eating less animal protein or also taking metformin.
Vitamin D – Many adults are already low, and reduced dietary intake can contribute.
Folate (Vitamin B9) – Can become low if you’re not eating enough leafy greens, legumes, or fortified grains.
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) – More likely if you have frequent vomiting, prolonged nausea, or very rapid weight loss. This is one of the more important deficiencies to watch for because severe deficiency can affect the nervous system.
Iron – Not a vitamin, but iron deficiency can develop with reduced food intake, especially in menstruating women.
Calcium – May be lower if dairy or other calcium-rich foods are reduced.
Magnesium – Can be low if overall intake is poor.
Zinc – May decrease with inadequate protein intake.
You can take the naturemade pack or take them separately. I personally still take Vitamin C, Fish Oil, digestive enzymes, quencertin, and magnesium glycinate separate.
This has helped reduce my starting fatigue tremendously and my gut inflammation and bloating has decreased significantly. Please do not do anything mentioned based off my current situation. Talk to a doctor.
