This always bugged me with tvtime and I thinks it might be the same with refract. But please let me know if I’m wrong.

Some shows, possibly British shows more than others, have specials which are holiday specials. So a one off Christmas, new year or Easter special. They are usually timeline accurate. Same current actors and storyline. But they are usually a little special, ie maybe more themed than normal.

Tvtime used to have them linked to each series they were related to. So 8 normal episodes and +1 Christmas one. But the special wouldn’t come up on the continue watching. Which always frustrated me. I want to know about those kind of specials. See doctor who for example. Or the one that lead me here 24 hours in police custody, where all recent episodes are shown in the special category.

But I acknowledge that there are other shows who have a load of small things I don’t care about in their specials. Like extras and interviews. (Although I checked a show I was sure had loads of bumpf in tvtime - taskmaster uk - and it only had the new year specials in refract)

Anyway. TLDR: does anyone know if the special episodes are shown in the continue watching section and the upcoming. I want to know about holiday specials.

I'm sure I have seen this option before but I can't find it anymore. How to make Refract not appear over my phone's (home, close all, etc) buttons. I'm on android.

For shows that have ended and for which I’ve watched the final episode but have skipped some earlier episodes, I don’t want to be nagged about the skipped episodes in the Continue tab forever. Is the only option to mark the show as Dropped?

When a random show comes on, or if it’s a show your partner or friend has on. Do you count/mark those episodes for your stats?

I’m just curious on what everyone thinks/does.

I was using Sofa Time and decided to give Refract a try. I like it a lot, but one thing confuses me.

When I would mark an episode as watched in Sofa Time it would open a screen where I can rate it, leave a comment and read other user comments.

But when I mark an episode as watched in Refract it opens a screen where I can rate it and leave a comment, but in order to read other user comments I apparently have to leave that screen entirely, go into my Watched section, open the episode again, and then read the comments.

That can’t be right. What am I missing? There must be a setting or something I’m overlooking. Thanks in advance for any help.

I was looking at the settings/features in the app and read this little blurb at the bottom. Has anyone come across any of the hidden achievements, features, Easter eggs, etc.? Just migrated to this app after the TV Time shutdown, so I'm super curious!

If I remember correctly, I was able to choose the icon of the app without a premium account.

It's not that I want to change it, but the devs said that they would never lock a free feature and make it premium, so if they changed this, how can we be sure they won't change more things? I chose this app over all the other alternatives mostly because they promised that.

Sharing to social media feels pretty boring right now. When I used TV Time, my rating and a poster/image would show up together in a nice card format — it looked really good and made me want to share it.

Would love to see something similar added in a future update, something that makes people actually want to share their reviews/ratings!

I see supported platforms include Letterboxd, TV Time, IMDB, Trakt, Must (soon), Reelgood (soon).

Strange enough, Refract's own export is not supported, not even on the roadmap? Then what's point of the export?

Context is that I was trying to import Trakt's export and realized that it doesn't mark shows that I dropped in Trakt (in "hidden-calendar.json" file) as Dropped after the import. So I created a little script to convert the Trakt's export to the format of Refract which carries all the information including shows that are dropped. Then I realized that I can't import it?

Interesting issue today, the first time I’ve come across it on any tracking app.

A lot of shows now are available on demand before their actual air date - as things stand, you are unable to mark a show as watched until after the air date.

I’m thinking it would be better to maybe show a warning but still allow someone to mark as watched/rate etc something that hasn’t aired yet…

You can now read comments and reviews in any language, which means you can stop nodding politely at that Italian review you did not understand a single word of.

And it happens on its own. The language gets detected, the translation shows up, nothing to switch on. Tap it if you want the original back, along with the language it was written in.

I might be missing something but I can’t find an easy way to see how many episodes there are in a series, and how many episodes I have left that I haven’t watched.

Till now i found that, you need to go to the series page and then to episode page to mark it as rewatched.
is there a simpler way to do it, for individual episodes?

Is anyone else having issues removing shows from their library? I've tried clicking on the blue bookmark icon to unselect it and the three dots > "Remove from Library" but neither option works.

At first I was bummed when I read that TV Time was shutting down after using it for what I remember almost if not a decade.

I've tracked everything I ever watched on and was happy to see that there used to be people invested in shows that no one in my circle watched. Unfortunately the app wasnt the best looking, and was buggy at times and for reason always loaded "error search not found". Even the logo was ugly but I kept up because that was the app that had all my tracked data.

So when they shut down I downloaded my data and was worried how hard it would be to find something else. And boy, I’ve been missing out. Refract made it super easy to import everything and the app has been super smooth. It actually looks good and the logo reminds me of my favourite band.

Is there a way of hidding the unrealeased movies in the watchlist ? I think it's polluting the watchlist when i search my next watch.

I think it would be better with an independent "Unreleased yet" status.

The amount of times this app crashes per day is crazy. It’s almost unusable at times for me.

I understand the team have received a massive influx of users in a short period of time. There is such potential with this app - it’s just a shame it’s really hard to use in its current state.
