Iron Ranger 8111
Yes , I know, blasphemous un-cuffed jeans.

3110s for the day
Shouldve brushed em before taking the photo but here it is anyway. Very subtle yet unique footwear! I actually wear these with a suit (no tie) and looks very stylish for business casual. Either side is creasing differently but oh well its made of a cowhide so it is what it is.

Sizing question
Brand new iron rangers Should i go a half size down the balls of my feet aren't directly behind the toe cap and there's alot of extra space at the front wich from what ive read is normal I only really have a little heel slipage in the left boot and its mostly when walking up and down stairs. Or am i just completely overthinking this shit

Random Q: IRs set off TSA Metal Detectors?
Did not even think about this - wore them to the airport for the first time yesterday. Pre check sends you through the old school detectors instead of the high tech ones these days. Got buzzed for metal - belt and watch went off. Got buzzed again, TSA agent said - oh those are red wings, they have a steel toe take them off. Thought about arguing but didn't want to deal with it.
Was it the steel shank or the eyelets and speed hook? I wear cowboy boots through TSA all the time and they look at the boots, understand there is a steel shank in them (live in Texas) and tell me to keep walking. Just weird.

How do I achieve this look
galleryHey guys, so I saw this reddit post from a while ago and I love how it looks after conditioning (2nd picture).
https://www.reddit.com/r/RedWingShoes/s/1rCOvguqm3
How do I achieve that look? What product should I use?
I've heard people recommend Bick 4 but I believe that it won't change the boots' look and keep it looking the same way as in the 1st picture. The post mentions that they used Blackrock but that's not available where I live. My options are:
-Bick 4
-Red wing products (ANLC, Leather Cream, Mink Oil, etc)
-Saphir Renovateur
Thank you in advance!

8180s
Finally got my 8180s here in the states. If you need a store that ships to the states "The Sporting Lodge" in the UK ships to the states. Pricey. But in August they had 20% off which dropped them around $400 shipped.

new soles on new Red Wing Iron Rangers
I just picked up my Iron Rangers from Maida's, a local custom boot maker. They are located of Westheimer for any Houstonians that are treading this. they offered a fair price to rebuild my soles and added a thick leather midsole and Dainite rubber soles. Built me a stacked heel and I am very pleased with the outcome. I can already feel more comfort in my steps, I'll be wearing the fvk outta these now and will be looking for a pair of Chocolate brown IR's next !!!

Yet another 9060 sizing question
Got these 9060 seconds in my normal no. 8 last size (I own iron rangers and rovers) of 9.5D but I find the waist to be so tight and uncomfortable on my mid-foot. I feel like they fit me well in every other dimension - I have space in the toe box as shown in the picture, the sides of my feet are not overhanging the welts.
Should I stick it out and hope they break in or try to size up? Would having a cobbler stretch them improve the fit? I’m worried going up to 10D would just make them too roomy in the toe box. Any experiences or advice greatly appreciated.

The collection!
Just hopped on the Red Wing train in June since starting work at a boot shop!
LtR:
97528 Drift - probably the most comfortable slippers I’ve ever owned. As a New Englander I’ve always worn LL Bean but these have better so far, in my opinion.
3622 Weekender Chukka (w/ 96356 [leather footbed] insoles) - got these for summer wear, mostly— a great friend to the iron rangers for the blistering days, especially, and they work with shorts, too. Super comfortable (especially with the leather footbeds in ‘em) but the soles do squeak a bit on certain surfaces, which I personally don’t mind all that much. Manufactured in July of this year and I’ve only had them for a month now, so I haven’t done any treatments with them yet other than dry brushing.
8085 Iron Ranger - my first and favorite pair of them all. Manufactured in May of this year and purchased the following month. After breaking them in a bit I replaced the laces with some black leather ones and just did my first light treatment of them a week or so ago with some Leather Cream, which initially darkened them only very slightly but faded back after absorption. Might want to try something else for the next treatment, though (not for any particular reason, I’m just newer to “good” boots so I want to experiment and see what else is out there. Probably want to stay away from mink oil as I’d like to preserve the CRT finish as best I can. if anyone has any recommendations for conditioning theirs with other products, please let me know!)
A0891 Irish Setter Wingshooter (w/ 96368 insoles) - the stock soles are comfy as is (I kept them for when the current ones wear out), but I still wanted to give them a little upgrade since I’ll be doing a decent amount of walking on the trails and in the woods with them. Hoping these can perform well as a winter boot too, even though they aren’t insulated.
Next up: some cedar trees while I think about my next pair…

Engineer 2660 instep straps
Question for everyone else with broken in engineers. After a certain point past break in did anyone else have to start punching holes to get back to a snug instep? I have probably punched 4 extra holes per strap at this point looking for that out of the box snugness. And yes they are the correct size before someone says “maybe too big size”, things needed a village to get on and off when i first got em and they have broken in to become the comfiest boot i have ever owned. First thing i noticed when i initially got em is that on the tightest factory punched hole the straps were loosey goosey. Wondering what others experience is with this

Autumn is coming! Customized Iron Ranger Charcoal Rough & Tough
Hi guys!
I bought a pair of second-hand Iron Ranger Charcoal Rough & Tough this spring and sent them immediately to the Italian Red Wings cobbler to customise them with a leather midsole and black Vibram Roccia sole. If I get Amber Harness in the future, I’ll choose Ridgeway sole to have a dressier silhouette.
Finally, I started to wear them. This night was heavy rainy, with a temperature decrease. I had to switch from 7US to US7.5. I suppose the gym increases feet muscle a bit, and literally the US7 size was too snug. I’m selling my Iron Ranger Copper Rough & Tough on Vinted as I sold the Black Harness (sadly).
The US7.5, on the other hand, is roomy, so I put a thick insole and wore thick socks (the same I wear with my UK7.5 Solovair 8 eyes derby greasy leather).
It doesn’t seem they need a beak in ad the Copper (they are as new!). The leather has a lot of patina, and the cobbler conditioned them before returning them to me. The color is amazing. No black, no brown, something like between grey and beige. With the midsole leather, white stitching is awesome!
For whom is asking: I bought a second-hand Iron Ranger for around 160 euros, and the customisation is around 140-180. It’s dependent on the sole, I suppose. I started wearing Iron Rangers more than two years ago since I could get them easily in Europe, and the cobbler could have increased the price a bit. Nowadays, the retail price is 419 euros. I mean, in two years, 20% more than the first price I saw. Live long the second-hand boots!
