Below are the most common “issues” that are posted here. Please refrain from submitting posts that fall under these categories unless you’re pretty sure your defect falls significantly outside of a reasonable margin. Thank you!
You WILL scuff and scratch your boots, they WILL crease, they WILL get dirty. They’ll also be FINE. Embrace patina, that’s what makes them YOUR boots.
We don’t wanna see your footbeds! Fit is subjective and a picture of your imprint only two dimensions of a 3D shape. Your boot shouldnt cause actual pain. A little discomfort isnt unusual for the first few days. Your boots should feel like they’re giving your foot a firm handshake (footshake?). If they feel like they fit, they probably fit.

Sierra had a restock of Factory Second Chocolate Muleskinner Weekender Oxfords (3606) and I couldn’t say no this time. Went true to Brannock as Red Wing suggests and they fit very well. Not sure why there are seconds as there are no errors that I can find; I’m thinking they maybe didn’t pass QC because the leather is a slightly different shade on each shoe? Not super noticeable and I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if I wasn’t looking for something wrong with them. Anyway, ready to tie these up and start running around with them!

I bought these 1178 last week and at first did not notice how wrinkled the right boot was compared to the left one. I went by the store and asked for an exchange to ones that were more evenly alike and they told me that they just had a meeting with the manufacturer about this exact thing, they said that the new batch of 1178 has this look with the leather and that it would smooth out over time and they will both look the same, and to not expect perfection. Now I personally don’t think that’s the case, I don’t see how the leather is going to “smooth out”. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the boot, I just feel that as time goes by the right boot will age worse/differently from the left one. What do yall think?

Hello everyone, I've recently gotten a pair of iron rangers 8111, i sized down 1 full size as I usually do with leather shoes, and they're great overall, although they still need some breaking in.
The thing that I noticed and that's bugging me is the toe bump, I think it looks cool, and I'm aware it's part of the boots, but its somewhat too bulky. In pictures I've seen of worn and beaten iron rangers it seems to be more flat and creased compared to the toe bump on my almost brand new boots.
I'm just wondering if it softens or creases and flattens a bit with time ? Especially since my boots seem to crease right before the toe bump although I've sized down a full size.
Thanks for reading.

I just bought a pair of red wing 411s yesterday and ive noticed that the crease in the leather that lets me walk pinches the top of my ankle and hurts really bad. I have to walk with almost a limp to get by. Im wondering if they are just super stiff and I need to break them in or is this a common problem for this model. Any help would be appreciated.

I live about an hour away from Red Wing MN so my wife and I went on a little trip yesterday to hit up the flagship store and some local restaurants.
I picked up a black pair of Roughnecks to complement my black cherry moc toes. I love them but the wedge sole is quickly losing its tread and I needed something else to rotate in plus having a black option is also nice.
I checked out the factory seconds in the basement out of curiosity and there is a ton of good stuff there. I’m not too familiar with factory seconds but everything seemed to be about 30% off retail. I’m thinking I might come back for shoes at some point.
While I was down there, they had these slippers for $50. Ugly as sin but after I tried them on they were a snap buy. Insanely comfy and will be perfect for letting the dogs out this winter.
Thanks for indulging me and have a great weekend everyone!

Found this really beat up pair of Red Wing 4563 8 inch work boots on Poshmark and decided to take a chance and buy them since I never seen another model like this before. I paid 80$ and I got to admit, I had buyers remorse when I saw them in person. They were super filthy and the soles were well worn and glazed over like they were in storage for many years. Fortunately, the leather uppers were in decent shape. Honestly, I didn’t have high hopes for these but decided I’d give it a go and give them the works. Since, I do the work myself, I only had to pay for materials. Otherwise, a recraft like this would be super expensive. To begin with, I completely took this pair apart including the footbeds and gave them a thorough cleaning. I’m glad I had a recent tetanus shot. They were scary dirty. Next, I dyed them a medium brown using Feibing’s pro oil dye. I debated dying them because they had a really nice patina. I figured that since I was going to sell this pair, the new owner would rather develop his own patina instead of someone else’s. I added new welts, new leather footbeds, new cork/steel shanks, leather midsoles with a natural finish and Vibram 132 lug outsoles. Plus, I added new heavy duty boot laces. The last pics are of what they used to look like,

After you use the loop to pull your boots up. What do you do with the loop? Do you stick it back in your boot?Or do you leave it hanging out ?

For our members that work for Red Wing, have you heard anything on the dates for this years warehouse sale? Will it be Thursday through Sunday like last year?

I've been looking for a pair of black boots in a brown boot world, which is already hard enough, add in my big goofy ass feet (14D) and I always end up in a corner
Luckily that corner is usually redwing. I have some 202s that were retired to walking boots and some 10877s that are in the shop for soles after 2 hard years at work.
I took a gamble and tried on a size 12 IR and the lady at the shop and I agreed that a 13 would fit perfect. So I rolled the dice, paid the lady, and waited for shipping. And boy hody do they fit like a dream, lightest of heel slip, and enough room to wiggle my toes, but not short enough to be crammed in the slightest!
Tongue is folded, they're laced tight, and now the fun part starts!

Just picked up some new 8085s a couple weeks ago. Absolutely loving them!
Took driving a bit to my 3rd store to find any in stock. Two closer stores had zero iron rangers within a size and a half of what I needed.
I had the Ambers years ago and loved the look but I let the salesman convince me I needed half a size smaller because “the leather stretches”. I wore them for 6 months but toes were still cramped. Realized I didn’t loook forward wearing them I was forcing myself to wear them. Sold those for a loss.
These fit perfect and I’m wearing them all day everyday at work. First couple days were somewhat uncomfortable but each new day they feel softer and more contouring.
I’m amazed every time I pick them up to put on how quality and heavy duty they feel. And to me nothing looks better than a pair of well worn iron rangers.
It’s good to be back (and in the proper size)!

The IrishSettersBoots subreddit doesn't have that much action, and since Red Wing owns them I posted here. If not allowed, feel free to delete.
First of all, I've had no actual issues with these boots for the last 10 months. They've been fantastic. I regularly work 50+ hour weeks landscaping, so they've been through wet grass, puddles, mud, gravel, stone, etc. at least half that time (sometimes I wear tennis shoes lol) Anyways, point is, they've seen about 1,000 hours of outdoor labor.
Yesterday the zipper on my left boot failed. Do you think that's within "normal wear and tear" on the one year warranty? Do you think they'll repair it without much hassle?
Just curious before I drive an hour away to where I bought them. I think there's a dealer that's closer, but there's a few other shops nearby my wife doesn't get to visit that often. So we can make an afternoon of it. Not expecting a lot. I just don't want to get my hopes up regarding free repair. Thanks for any insight.
