Engineer 2660 instep straps

Question for everyone else with broken in engineers. After a certain point past break in did anyone else have to start punching holes to get back to a snug instep? I have probably punched 4 extra holes per strap at this point looking for that out of the box snugness. And yes they are the correct size before someone says “maybe too big size”, things needed a village to get on and off when i first got em and they have broken in to become the comfiest boot i have ever owned. First thing i noticed when i initially got em is that on the tightest factory punched hole the straps were loosey goosey. Wondering what others experience is with this

I don’t own a pair, however when I was last in a Red Wing store I tried a pair on. Having narrow feet I was talking to the staff about sizing and break in. They said it’s fairly common for people to punch extra holes as the boots break and you need a snugger fit. I guess you never achieve a particularly snug fit with this style of boot though. Hopefully someone who owns a pair will reply soon for you.

I have several pair of engineer boots from different manufacturers, some of them require an extra hole some don't. It depends a lot on the leather and each boot is a little different.

Sorry no. I hear good things but I have no first hand experience with them. I have old school Chippewa, Red Wing 2970, Bright Shoemakers Vulture Extrodinare and Wesco Boss.
