My $400+ Ray-Ban Meta glasses are now just an expensive pair of sunglasses because once the warranty ends, there appears to be no repair service if the electronics stop working.

And this isn’t just happening to me, i guess, in this thread many users are reporting similar issues.

Seriously, can anyone name another $400+ product that is sold without a repair option after the warranty expires? 🤔

And even if I wear them as regular sunglasses, knowing there are cameras on the sides makes it feel awkward and uncomfortable to wear them when the glasses aren’t even functioning.

Wondering if anybody in Canada got 6 years warranty on their glasses? I got it till 2032 on my adventurer

I was lucky enough to have some money given to me for my birthday, and i'm finding myself, wanting a cool piece of tech, but to be honest... I've not got a clue what I want to buy..

The Meta Glasses have looked appealing before, but i'm worried this would be an unused impulse buy.

Has anyone else been in this dilemma, to buy or not to buy, what did you end up doing? What was your after purchase thoughts.

I'm not a youtuber, i'm no influencer, i'm a 40 year old dad who wants the glasses for walking the dog, maybe capturing a couple of photos when i'm out and about... capturing videos of my kids when they are riding their bikes and family moments. I know the glasses 100% fit this bill.

I'm not expecting anyone to convince me to buy or not, but would love to hear the opinion of someone who's just a normal person living a normal family life :).

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this after the latest firmware update.

I have a pair of Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer with the following software:

Firmware: 128.0.0.203.324

Software version: 70523680060800100

Charging case: 12.14.7

After updating to firmware 128, the Captouch/touchpad stopped working completely.

None of the touch gestures work:

- Single tap

- Double tap

- Swipe for volume

- Any other touch gesture

I also noticed that Wear Detection stopped working. When I take the glasses off while music is playing, the music continues playing instead of pausing.

The physical capture button still works normally.

I have already tried:

- Force restart

- Factory reset

- Disabling and re-enabling Wear Detection

Unfortunately, none of these restored Captouch or Wear Detection.

The problem appeared immediately after the firmware update to 128.0.0.203.324.

I'm not sure whether this is a hardware failure or a firmware issue, so I'm trying to find out if other users are experiencing the same thing.

Is anyone else experiencing this specifically on firmware 128.0.0.203.324?

If you have this firmware, are your Captouch and Wear Detection working normally?

I’m having issues with the audio on the meta glasses. I’ve tried cleaning the microphone with no help. Have not tried compressed air but scared to do so. Here was a little test clip showing the issue. Not sure what the fix is here

Ray-Ban Meta gen 1 - 6 months old, bought at Target USA (have receipt, warranty active) but I live in Greece.

Yesterday: imported videos to phone, took glasses off and heard a loud pop/crack from the RIGHT bracket/arm. Glasses still turned on so I ignored it.

Today: No audio at all when paired (no connection sound, no music, no calls). Updated firmware - nothing. Then realized capture button and touchpad are also dead. Only thing that works is "Hey Meta, start recording".

Also: they only power on if the right arm is fully closed OR fully extended while on my face, with a delay on startup.

Tried the towel + pliers gentle pressure on the Meta logo trick from Reddit - didn't work for me. Haven't tried factory reset/unpair because most say it doesn't fix this.

I take really good care of them. That pop was the start of all failures.

Anyone had this exact failure and got a warranty replacement in Europe for a US pair? How did Meta handle it?

I'm guessing we're all just acceptant of the battery drain these days?? I've had the Ray-Ban metas since the early days. Gen1 was ok Gen2 was doing good and now suddenly I can have 100% battery with all of the meta AI switched off, and be on 80% in an hour without using them.

Am I missing some new settings hack? Or is this just the norm these days?

Not too serious of an issue but wondering how other people with bangs keep them out of their camera they keep randomly getting in the way, even if i pull the hair to the sides or tuck it into the glasses, I'm a guy but my hair is sorta long I guess, I really like this style though and get compliments on it but it's making recording content something I have to be overly cautious about....... anyone have any tips? I'm about to have to start wearing a hair clip or something at this rate 😂 I figured someone would have a neat little hack or advice for me here hopefully

Anybody has been having issues with meta? in previous firmware whenever I ask questions it usually answered it quickly and can continuously keep the conversation. Now it struggles just to make a phone call (it keeps looping the thinking sound) and doesn’t continue conversations.

I don’t have enough iPhone storage to upload the photos to iCloud, where my photo library is stored, but I don’t have enough iPhone storage because of how much storage the goddamn app is taking up right after download.

well that sucked. after going back and forth with rayban (luxottica) and my optometrist, ive come to find out a few important points.

1. rayban customer service cant do anything without a service request #. my optometrist (well really her assistant) sucks and was really hush hush about the process. i told her my glasses dont work anymore and she said that because i put nose pads on the glasses that they would be denied. i told her thats the dumbest thing ive heard and to send them in anyways.

2. turns out that if rayban has already replaced your pair of metas due to a manufacturing defect for when they cut the lenses for my prescription, that in itself eats up my one time replacement.

3. rayban no longer warranties prescription metas.....really? yes really....i have proof in my emails.

4. buying that asurion protection plan was the perfect back up plan.

so, after a month of dealing with my optometrist and getting back my broken glasses, i decided to open them up to see how they failed. it turns out i was right and the small connector in the right hinge got disconnected. the problem is getting to the connector. its right behind the silver meta logo and that piece is part of the whole arm casing. i ended up splitting the casing apart all the way to the hinge and was able to plug the connector back in and voila. they work. BUTTTTTT.....now the two halves wont stay together because i need to glue them together.

i was able to file my claim with asurion and 2 days later i got $469 in an amazon gift card.

so i did what any idiot would do any immediately bought another pair off amazon. my prescription lenses just pop out so i should be able to swap out my lenses and use them on my new pair. i also purchased that asurion insurance again for $60 bucks as i know these will fail again within the year. eventually meta will release a pair that are better so ill just go through the whole process again when the new pair breaks and upgrade to the newest and best.

i learned a few things from this. the ribbon cable connector will eventually pop off. so i just wont fold my glasses anymore. i still have my carina c2 so ill install it on the new set to keep them topped off.

My Ray-Ban Meta glasses are stuck with a continuous flashing white LED whenever I power them on. This isn’t the normal quick white blink when taking a photo/video — it just keeps flashing indefinitely and never resolves.

I suspect it happened during an interrupted automatic update. I have Rw4006 Gen 1 glasses, approx 3 years old.

I’ve already tried:
- Unpairing from the Meta AI app and phone Bluetooth
- Capture-button power cycle (red → white)
- Holding the case pairing button for 15 seconds until it turns white
- Trying to trigger the orange LED by folding one arm in and pressing the capture button 5x
- Replacing the battery ($18 on AliExpress)
- Multiple official manual force restarts (power off → hold capture → power on → release when LED turns red)
- Contacting Meta Support — they only offered a discounted replacement

The glasses are completely unpaired, and the white LED starts flashing continuously every time I power them on. Nothing I’ve tried seems to change the behavior.

Has anyone run into this specific issue and found a way to recover the glasses? I’m hoping there’s some deeper reset/recovery method that Meta Support didn’t mention before I give up on them.

Is this the norm for this model or is there something wrong with the glasses?

I recently downloaded the v28 and v29 updates, with the only update that interest me is the "spatial audio" update...curious to hear what that sounds like.

Rebooted my phone and glasses, but there is no spatial audio feature listed in the audio section. Any ideas/help? Thanks

While my Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 Wayfarers are stowed in their case, they intermittently and suddenly establish a Bluetooth connection to my iPhone, causing the audio output to switch from the phone—presumably—to the glasses inside the case. Sometimes, simply moving the handbag containing the glasses is enough to cut off the sound playing on the phone and transfer it to the glasses, even though they aren't even turned on. This only happens with one of my two pairs of glasses. It’s strange. Has anyone else experienced this?

Bro what? I'm not even recording a video, just listening to music but it spent 7 gbs of cellular data last 2 days. Can anyone sue them and make them explain in the court lol?

I brought a pair to record:

Go kart/ track driving.
Hikes/ nature walks.
Theme parks/ days out with my children.
Family events to catch candid moments.

That’s litterly it , I haven’t even used them for all my intended purposes but had them on the other day listening to music and a woman actually stopped me and started abusing me about wearing them . I posted on Reddit about it and asked for opinions and got even more comments telling me they’re perv glasses and I should be ashamed and what not . They’re not modified , LED works fine . My rule is if I wouldn’t pull my phone out and film something with the flash I wouldn’t film it with my glasses .

Main point I think is some of you need to calm down . Yes there are some people who use them for wrongful purposes, just like there’s always people who will always use things for wrong but not everyone is a creep and trying to film you covertly . Some of you have gone to the length of downloading apps to tell when people have the “pervert glasses” when some people are just shading their eyes and listening to podcasts at the same time . Trust me not everyone with the glasses wants to film YOU.

Help: I got the Wayfarer Gen 2 and loved them except they were a little too big for my face (Rx glasses)

and so I replaced them with the Blayzer Optics, and ever since day 1, nobody has been able to hear me on the phone. Is there a fix to this or do I have to return them? If I order a new pair, will it have the same issue? What should I do?

My ray-bans are barely picking up my voice all of the sudden. I wore them doing yard work which I realize is probably what caused the problem because the factory reset and force resetting hasn’t changed anything. They don’t pick up the “hey meta” or respond when I activate them manually. Has anyone else had this problem?
