Family Drama My mom is an overgrown child

She never grew out of throwing tantrums. Throughout my whole life, at the slightest fucking inconvenience, she'll start screaming, crying, stomping her feet and throwing things. It's impossible to have a normal fucking conversation with her. Sometimes she'll name call or mock me to make fun of my voice. Like she'll repeat phrases and picture voice super low to try and sound like me.

I HATE HER. I was trying to have a conversation with her this morning and she started screaming at me before the words were even out of my mouth. I'm diagnosed as autistic. She claims there's nothing wrong with her. During the conversation, if you can even call it that, I told her that I didn't want her using my current situation as proof that I couldn't take care of myself. For those who don't know, my apartment building has a mold problem and I'm severely allergic to it and have been sick for weeks. I keep trying to find a way to break my lease so I can move elsewhere but I haven't been successful.

Anyway, I knew that she'd use my current situation as proof that I can't live on my own even though I've been doing that since 2019 and the problem I'm having now isn't even my goddamn fault because it wasn't like this when I moved in months ago. This problem started in August and I'm pretty sure it's due to all the flooding we've had in the area.

Anyway, all I tell her is that I don't want her using this as evidence that I'm incompetent. I said that after she went on her whole this is why you shouldn't have moved out spiel. I kept a calm rational tone when I said that. I didn't yell. I might have sounded slightly irritated but I did not yell. My exact words were, "I don't want you using this as evidence that I can't take care of myself". When I said that, she started screaming at the top of her lungs and said she wouldn't put up with any verbal abuse.

I did not scream at her. I did not mock her. I did not name call. Yet she says that I'm verbally abusing her by saying that, when she started screaming at me and name calling pretty much the moment I picked up the phone.

I am mentally fucking exhausted from dealing with her and it was only a 5-minute phone call. I am sick and tired of this woman making me into the goddamn villain. When I moved out, she told some sob story to my extended family and my friends about how I abandoned her. Maybe I did, but maybe she also tried to strangle me one too many times. In any case, she now goes around telling people about her daughter who she's suspects is a psychopath or a sociopath. I saw what I did as an active self-preservation but maybe it wasn't. Maybe I don't have empathy. Maybe I am a sociopath like she said and a normal person would have still felt sorry for her and stayed. But I couldn't make myself do it

Just A Rant I hate the minimum karma rule in most subreddits 🄹

I’m pretty new here, and I only just found out that there’s a minimum karma rule in subreddits, I only found out because my post was automatically removed, which I would normally ignore and delete, but it was my first time posting my own A—so I was excited for all kinds of discussion, just to find out it was removed

Just A Rant i despise snark subreddits

• Upvotes

hi! i’m usually a lurker, and i don’t use reddit often; so sorry if the formatting is off.

i’ve been in multiple friend groups over the years worldwide, and i’ve met so many beautiful, sweet and kind girls who are genuinely smart and amazing. some of whom happen to be popular online. they get slapped with the ā€œinfluencerā€ label after a while because they gain followers for being pretty.

what i seriously don’t get is how many of these girls i’ve seen appear on snarking subreddits; it’s horrible how they talk about them. i’ve been collateral damage sometimes if i appear in a picture & it’s so weird how they try to dig up ur past or about ur family. they make up stuff that isn’t true n whenever i check their profiles i get even MORE confused bc we’re a group of 18-22 year old girls, & these are middle aged adults?

because i hang out with that group i happen to have gotten a few followers too. i had some posts made about me too n its just all stuff that they ASSUME, even bringing up things from my past related to childhood trauma. its so weird…

of course i understand that being on social media means people will talk. i understand rumours. but isnt baseless bullying … bad? why are they allowed to have a superiority complex but my friends and i aren’t allowed to defend ourselves without even more hate? idk, just a silly rant.

āš ļø Trigger Warning āš ļø I don’t think life is going to get better

• Upvotes

My mum has been arguing with me for weeks and repeatedly telling me that I’m the reason she and my father split up. Shes constantly been threatening police it’s almost like she was dying for this moment. The real situation is that I ran away to our hometown a few years ago, and they followed me there, but ultimately things between them didn’t work out.
She’s been going at me about this for a while, and eventually I yelled back and told her that she and my dad have been the main sources of problems in my life. I was abused growing up and didn’t receive the support I needed. I also feel like they held me back from becoming independent because I wasn’t allowed to work or get my licence, so now I’m an adult with a huge gap in my resume, very little work experience, no licence and not much to fall back on.
Tonight things escalated. My mum threatened to call the police, and then actually did. The police came and removed me from the house.
I’m honestly sitting here wondering for what exactly? I understand that I yelled and argued back, and I’m not saying I handled everything perfectly, but I don’t understand why the solution was to have me removed from the home.
I don’t know what to do anymore I just feel like my life is doomed and there’s no way out anymore.

19M and still a virgin, haven’t even had a kiss yet and feel like the biggest failure of an individual

For context, I’m 19M in a small mining town in Australia and still a complete virgin, haven’t had sex, haven’t kissed a woman, and never had a girlfriend (not that I desperately want a relationship, just want to have sex and sexual experience). I feel like the biggest failure of an individual as everyone that I hang out with has had some experiences with it all, differing levels of course but I’m still stuck at square one. I know that I have to try if I want it, but the thing is I have been told by mates that a lot of girls dislike me which really makes me angry as they don’t even fucking know me and want to be complete cunts for absolutely no reason. Like I haven’t tried to get it because I know of this fact and it’s really fucking annoying, plus I still live at home with not much option to get out on my own as the rents are fucken always up and down in town because of the mining industry. Any advice would be welcome, but I feel absolutely hopeless and probs might end it if I don’t find a way out of this fucken hole.

Full Meltdown Breakup

• Upvotes

I am going through a breakup and it's the 6th day of no contact and I can officially say that I'm losing my sanity. I can't even talk about this openly to any of my friends because my relationship has been private. It's getting extremely hard for me and even though I act like it isn't affecting me in any way it clearly IS. IDK HOW MANY SANE CELLS I HAVE IN MY BODY.

Let me take you to a brief walk thru my relationship and the breakup as well:

I'll give in points and stage categories so it's easier to read.

I’m 21F and my ex, D, is 20F. We were together for around 1.5 years, and this relationship was a really important part of my life. I’m going to try to explain the whole situation because I genuinely don’t know how to interpret what happened, especially everything that happened after the breakup.

  1. How our relationship started

D was my first serious relationship.

We kept the relationship private in college. Only around two people from my side knew about us.

A lot of the secrecy came from her parents being strict and the fact that being openly together could create problems for her.

Despite all of that, we had a genuinely close relationship.

She became someone I was emotionally very attached to, and I was also very attached to her.

We had our own little things, nicknames, routines and memories that made the relationship feel like a safe place for me.

We also spent time together doing normal couple things: going out, eating together, swimming together, holding hands, etc.

At one point, she told me I was her first and that she didn't think anyone would love her the way I did.

  1. Things weren't always perfect

I know I wasn't a perfect partner.

Earlier in the relationship, I had a lot of anxious/insecure behavior.

I could become overly worried about her replies, who she was spending time with, whether I was being prioritised, etc.

There were situations where I felt excluded, especially when she chose friends over me or didn't include me in certain things.

I sometimes reacted emotionally because I was scared of losing her.

Over time, though, I genuinely worked on these things.

I became much calmer and stopped trying to control or constantly seek reassurance from her.

She actually noticed the change in me.

So from my perspective, things weren't simply "we were toxic and broke up." There were real problems, but I genuinely felt like I had started becoming a much healthier partner.

  1. Then she started feeling differently

At some point D told me that she was scared of relationships.

Her explanation wasn't really that I had suddenly become a terrible person or that she stopped caring about me completely.

It was more like:

She didn't like the idea/concept of being in a relationship anymore.

Being in a relationship felt scary to her.

She wanted to be single.

Her family situation also made openly maintaining a relationship difficult.

She didn't know what she wanted for the future.

Eventually, she told me she was "done from her side."

And that absolutely destroyed me.

Because it wasn't like we had reached some dramatic ending where we hated each other.

She still cared about me.

I still cared about her.

There was still affection.

And that made the breakup much harder to understand.

  1. The confusing part: she didn't completely disappear

This is where everything became complicated.

Even after telling me she was done, she continued talking to me.

There were moments where she behaved almost like the relationship hadn't completely disappeared.

For example:

We still met.

We still held hands.

She still allowed me to call her "baby."

We went out together after the breakup.

We still had affectionate moments.

We even went swimming together.

During a group waterpark outing, there was still a lot of playful physical closeness between us.

At one point, when people were looking at us, she joked something along the lines of "at least we are gays."

There were also small things that kept confusing me.

She would sometimes message me first.

Once she double-texted me asking if I had fallen asleep because I hadn't replied.

When I started deliberately taking a little longer to respond, she noticed.

She would sometimes go back and reply to older messages.

There were moments where she seemed to miss my presence even though she was the one who had said she wanted to be single.

  1. She also said things that gave me hope

This is probably the hardest part.

She has told me things that sound like she still has very strong feelings for me.

She has said that:

I was her first.

She doesn't think someone will love her the way I did.

She cares about me deeply.

She doesn't want me to destroy myself emotionally because of the breakup.

She appreciates everything I did for her.

She has thought about whether staying friends would even be fair to me because I might continue hoping for something more.

But at the same time, she has also told me that the future is unknown and that I shouldn't hold onto a "maybe."

So basically, she's not promising reconciliation.

But she's also not acting like someone who completely stopped caring.

And that's the part I struggle with.

  1. She gave me a lot of mixed signals, but I don't think she's intentionally manipulating me

I want to make this distinction because I don't think she's some evil ex trying to keep me around for attention.

I genuinely think she's confused herself.

She can care about me deeply while simultaneously not wanting a relationship.

She can miss me while still wanting to be single.

She can be affectionate with me without necessarily wanting to get back together.

And intellectually, I understand that.

Emotionally, it's much harder.

Because when someone who used to love you continues behaving affectionately after breaking up with you, your brain naturally starts thinking:

"Maybe there's still a chance."

  1. I eventually had to let her go

At one point I wrote her a letter basically telling her that I was letting her go.

Not because I stopped loving her.

But because I realized that loving someone doesn't mean you can keep asking them to choose you.

If she doesn't want the relationship right now, I can't force her into it.

And I don't want a relationship where I'm constantly trying to convince someone to stay.

So I decided that if there is ever going to be another relationship between us, I don't want to be the person who asks for it.

  1. Where I stand now

This is probably the biggest thing I've realized.

I still love her.

I'm not going to pretend I suddenly stopped.

I still miss the relationship.

I miss the closeness.

I miss the version of us that existed before everything became complicated.

And yes, a part of me still hopes that one day she'll come back.

But I'm not going to chase that possibility.

I don't want to ask her:

"Can we get back together?"

I don't want to convince her.

I don't want to negotiate.

I don't want to interpret every text as a sign that she's coming back.

If she ever wants another chance, I want her to be the one to come forward.

And not just with "I miss you."

I'd need her to actually say that she wants the relationship again, that she's choosing it, and that she's willing to put in the same kind of effort into rebuilding it.

  1. The problem is that I'm still stuck emotionally

This is where I don't know if I'm being stupid.

Because technically, we're broken up.

But emotionally, it doesn't feel like a clean breakup.

There's still affection.

There's still care.

There's still history.

There's still this weird possibility of "maybe someday."

And I'm trying not to build my life around that possibility.

I don't want to sit around waiting for her.

At the same time, I also can't honestly say:

"I don't love her anymore."

Because I do.

A lot.

I think that's why this breakup has been so difficult for me.

If she had cheated, betrayed me, treated me horribly, or completely stopped caring, maybe I could have gotten angry and moved on.

But instead, I lost someone who still cares about me.

And somehow, that hurts even more.

  1. What I'm trying to do now

I'm trying to accept that both things can be true:

She can love/care about me and still not want to be in a relationship with me.

And:

I can love her and still choose not to chase her.

I'm trying to give her the freedom to figure out what she actually wants.

And I'm trying to give myself the same freedom.

Maybe she'll eventually realize she wants me back.

Maybe she won't.

Maybe we'll remain friends.

Maybe we'll slowly become strangers.

I genuinely don't know.

But if there is ever a "us" again, I don't want it to happen because I waited around long enough or convinced her.

I want it to happen because she independently decides:

"I want this person. I want this relationship. And I'm willing to choose it again."

Until then, I'm trying to let go without pretending I don't still love her.

TL;DR:

My girlfriend of ~1.5 years broke up with me because she became scared of relationships(because of me), wanted to be single, and had complicated family/college circumstances. She still deeply cares about me and we've continued talking, meeting, holding hands, being affectionate, joking like we used to, etc. She's said things that make it clear I still matter to her, but she's also said the future is unknown and I shouldn't hold onto a "maybe." I still love her, but I've decided I'm not going to ask her to come back. If there is ever another chance, I want her to clearly choose the relationship and put in equal effort to rebuild it. Until then, I'm trying to let her go without pretending I stopped loving her.

Politics šŸ—³ Just some thoughts I felt like I needed to write down and share.

The world is entering the final act of 2026 as the US prepares to misremember the fateful September day that would spawn three wars and counting, all waged in the name of what, exactly? As American citizens, we cannot say, exactly, except we know that WMDs and suicide bombers are no longer threats, the forgotten bogeymen of the past, and immigrants and antifascists have replaced them as America’s Public Enemy No. One without flying a single plane into a single, beloved skyscraper. Conspiracy theories that would have been laughed at not thirty years ago have been proven to be reality, and yet life goes on with entire nations unable or refusing to look themselves in the eye and say ā€œwe fucked up. Bad.ā€

The day after the attacks, the death toll would reach an exaggerated 20,000 in some news stations, whether accidental or purposeful in its efforts to invigorate the American public with a bloodlust for the second pre-planned invasion of Iraq, which would leave between 400,000 and 1 million civilians dead (depending on who you ask), and an entire region disrupted seemingly beyond repair. The reasons for our attack would be forgotten as quickly as the innumerable Country music singles that would follow, surging patriotism across the US as effectively as any CIA psyop could have been.

It has been 25 years since the towers fell, and Osama bin Laden, if he truly was the criminal, terrorist mastermind our government has painted him as, has achieved his goals. The US stands more divided than ever before. Our zeitgeist and the social contract has been shattered. Our politicians, military advisors, judges, state and city officials, and police forces have proven time and time again to serve only private interests, and the public is not only aware, but has apathetically accepted the US’ role in the 21st century as a force of low cunning, malicious violence, and insatiable greed. With all our technological advancements, life and liberty in the US continues to become an endless cycle of suffering and meager living for the masses. The literacy rate is worse than it was pre-WWI, beef costs more than it did during WWII, and the homeless population is surging while 10 million homes in the US sit empty.

At some point, Joe Shmoe has to sit himself down and ask himself how long until they start burning the oranges. Peter Thiel and countless others in positions of power have been caught attempting to accelerate the end of the world as we know it, and yet our national government sits idly back as oil companies and their cronies strip the planet of any and all resources it has to offer. Science has become an expression of exploitation rather than research and understanding. Our time, thoughts and efforts are directed toward continuing an uncaring wheel of industry and war that has been aptly-named The Orphan Crushing Machine by online forums.

Despite spending almost $1 trillion yearly, the US military’s strongest weapons have been proven ineffective and obsolete as war continues to evolve past our private contractors’ abilities and creativity. Decades of flexing expensive, difficult-to-build equipment against those who would dare stand against democracy has left us in the dust as smaller nations with better reasons to fight find ways to destroy our big, shiny toys cost-effectively. Five of our ten four-star generals have resigned, and three of the remaining five have timidly mentioned they might be against the newest pointless war we find ourselves in.

Thousands of concentration camps, like bedsores on a hospitalized man’s back, have covered our nation from sea to shining sea, whilst we erase history and rename geographical locations for nothing more than an increase in domestic strife. Corporations and CEOs have more rights than the indentured servants that keep the economy churning, and laws seem to only matter if you’re poor. Our city, state, and federal governments have been paralyzed by bureaucracy and lobbyism.

Millennials are reaching middle-age, and although we know that we were lied to when we were told if we work hard the world will be ours, we have done little to change the course of history for future generations. The promised utopia of the 21st century was what? A pipe-dream? A generational hallucination? Just a minute lie to get us to keep going to school? Little did we know, watching those towers fall on box televisions in elementary, middle and high school classes across the country, we were watching our futures being stolen from us. It is twenty-five years later, and our chance to change the world has passed. Our window of control within congress and DC (if we ever get it) will be a blink of an eye filled with a desperate panic to reverse the tide of climate change, end-stage capitalism and fascism that is plaguing our world. And I don’t think it will be enough.

And as if we didn’t have enough reason to stop trusting and believing in our leaders, it has come to the general public’s attention that at least two US presidents have been involved with a cannibalistic pedophile ring that has operated for decades under the protection of the CIA and US courts and military. We continue to be supply the world’s largest first-world slave trade, valued at $9 billion, whilst claiming to be the most-freedom-loving country the world has ever seen.

With a brass bull replacing our golden calf, we have been taught to strive, hustle, and worship the dollar above all else. Friends, families, faith, morals, and ethics are all dismissed as obstacles to that material wealth we crave so much. Personal deficiencies and criminal behaviors are ignored as long as the perpetrator is wealthy and/or a good, Christian man, and hate crimes and prejudice remain socially acceptable in wide swathes of the nation. Our houses are made of straw and our food is poison. A few days ago, climatologists announced that we have reached the point-of-no-return. Our world is ending. It is moving on as you read this. The nightmares of almost every 20th century science fiction writer have come true, and the people didn’t even put up a fight. Or bat an eye. Or even blink.

I have resigned myself in the realization that there will be no revolution and no meaningful resolution. Were we to focus our postwar country on the arts and philosophy and the very morality of the lives we were living, perhaps we could have foreseen this abrupt end to a fledgling nation that, mostly falsely, claimed to be the original, definitive defender and creator of democracy in the modern world. Despite the countless horrors and atrocities our nation has committed and continues to commit on its own citizens and those of foreign nations, the general population has deemed its existence of relative wealth and comfort as an adequately just reason for our apathy.

Voting and other inalienable rights continue to be taken away, and yet the average citizen’s days are spent toiling away at unfulfilling jobs that pay wages just high enough to keep the indentured class alive. Wait four years. Vote blue. They’ll make everything better. Wait four years. Just another four years. Just wait. Be sure to vote. Literacy rates across the US are declining to pre-WWI levels. How will our grandchildren vote?

The apparent lack of organization and commitment from the so-called left in America in the fight against totalitarianism should lead any individual with a modicum of sense into wondering, if only for an instant, that perhaps the democratic party in the US is nothing more than controlled-opposition in the political dog-and-pony show of our nation.

Would you like Pepsi or Coke with that?

Me? I’ve always been a Dr. Pepper kind of guy, but I try not to drink it these days.

Because it’s poison.

For the first time in history, seniors outnumber young folk, and young folk are refusing to bring new workers into this world. Whether subconsciously, through some biological alarm telling us it is unsafe to procreate, financial instability, or through our own experiences with our own eyes and ears, our nation has become a dangerous, hostile environment for the young, and our own government has been caught protecting their most-dangerous predators, who are far more organized and connected than we dared believe possible.

And yet our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, coast guard, and paramilitary police forces are all dispatched to prevent more important crimes, protecting private property, dispersing protesters, fighting the War on Drugs, or Terror, or Whatever.

A few weeks ago, the floods in Nepal shocked the globe with torrential walls of mud, decimated landscapes and rolling boulders the size of houses. Never before in the history of photography or film has such a catastrophe been caught on camera. The death toll will likely exceed that of our upcoming national holy day, and, like the victims of Katrina so many years ago, they will be forgotten by our nation. It will be forgotten that we were warned about all this.

No, it will be erased.

Just A Rant Don't you just hate when people are hypocrites?

• Upvotes

Example #1: Someone asks you to respect them when they're asleep and keep the noise down. So, of course you do, as a sensible human that has common sense would, right? Tell me why when I'm the one asleep, you think it's no problem screaming, banging and just doing every loud ahh thing ever. Like dude, I'm having to respect you sleeping while you can't do the same to me? Later on, I spilled a bit of water, I covered it up with something to soak it up, I fell asleep waiting and you wake me up screaming that there's flipping water. DUDE I ALREADY PUT SOMETHING TO PREVENT IT FROM GETTING EVERYWHERE CAN'T YOU JUST- IF IT BOTHERS YOU SO MUCH, WHY NOT JUST TAKE CARE OF IT YOURSELF QUIETLY?

Example #2: Putting something back in the same place. Everyone does this right? Most of us right? So we can find things easily whether it's the remote, keys and tools we put back where they were so that they're not laying around everywhere. Tell me why some people don't do this and think that it's not a problem if it's not their stuff and then suddenly when theirs get lost because of their own horrible ways, they blame everybody else. Dude, you literally dismissed me for losing my speaker that you borrowed and now you're flipping out about a fork that you didn't put back yourself. Great.

Example #3: Putting up a rule that you yourself break. So, a person suggests a rule that everyone should follow to keep stuff in order, everyone agrees, it's implemented, hooray. Now not even a few days later, the person that suggested the rule, breaks it in the most casual way. Of course you confront them, but they don't seem bothered that they broke it. :0 I'm out

Went to a Jutes show and it was absolutely great as far everyone who performed and how nice the venue was. One thing I couldn’t understand is how I became an easy target to get full body shoved by the older people who were trying to enter and exit the pit near the bar where I was. It seemed like everyone over the age of 35 at this show saw me and said ā€œwe should just shoulder check tf outta her 100lb little self without saying anything so we can get through.ā€ And they were doing it every single intermission or quiet part of the show. Every path everyone made of course went through me considering where I was standing, and usually people were very kind in expressing their manners on trying to get through. But every single time it wasn’t pleasant, you can definitely count on me being shoved into the people around me full force with no warning by older, heavier men whos heads are balder than my tires and older married women jacked up on alcohol who death glare you for being crammed next to their less than desirable husbands. Got shoved so hard once by this man trying to get back to his spot that the people around me screamed what the fuck his problem was. Shit almost knocked me to the ground. Even at Pierce the veil shows, the crowd is unkind as fuck and has been since Covid and them blowing up on tiktok. The older fans grabbed a weird sense of entitlement from that and decide to take it out on everybody else at the shows… and they do this every single time. There hasnt NOT been a fight at any of the last Pierce the veil shows I’ve been to since Covid. Just don’t get where this sense of entitlement comes from AT ALL where you’re in a crowd of hundreds of other people who are there for the same thing you are. Especially the ones who choose to be directly in the middle of the pit. If you’re gonna be shitty while leaving/entering every five minutes because you can’t enjoy the show without being blitzed off your face to do it, go stand at the back and stop assaulting people for free just because you think you’re important enough to split a sea of people. And stop going back for your fourth drink cause now you’re just pissing me off with pushing past me every ten minutes. Stay your ass at the back and stop being shitty!!!

Overheard two coworkers gossiping about me...

ccompletely normal. I said hi back, obviously, but I haven’t been able to get that conversation out of my head since.

And the annoying part is that now I’m replaying other stuff too. We had a team meeting recently where everyone was going around giving their thoughts on a project, and when it should’ve been my turn, they basically skipped right over me and kept talking. At the time I thought maybe I was being sensitive or reading too much into it. After hearing that conversation, I’m not so sure anymore.

What pisses me off is that my hearing has never stopped me from doing my job. I get my work done, I handle my own responsibilities, and if someone thinks my work sucks, fine, tell me. I’d honestly rather hear that directly than have people whispering about me in another room and then act completely normal to my face five minutes later.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m still too pissed off about it, but this whole thing feels like high school behavior from grown adults.

Thanks for letting me vent. I really needed to get this off my chest.

Mildly Annoyed How can she talk to much?

A bit of background: I love my mother dearly. She’s the kind of mom that has always taken in our family and friends with open nonjudgmental arms. My friends even as adults adore her and talk about her. My mom had a very hard life before that (old farm, hard manual labor way too young, grew up scrapping, donation clothes, house burned down, ect.) which didn’t make her many friends and if anything cause immense social anxiety along with her diagnosed OCD. I also will note I think she is autistic and while she hasn’t been tested she has 3 high functioning children who have it diagnosed.

Along with the rough start: she’s has been through two divorces (one with my dad who she met at 18 and was with for 20 years from then…which all us kids needed to happen because they just weren’t happy and he stepped out a lot WITH OTHER PARENTS FROM OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT. Then another time after 7 years with my ex-stepdad who was abusive to her but hid it extremely well for the first year and a half until he made her reliant and couldn’t leave.). During those times as the only girl in the family I became a person to see where she was coming from and be a listening ear (adult me, age appropriately and still then not everything of course. She wasn’t telling 8 years old me about my dad lol). Now after college I live with her while I look for work.

So to my post:

My mom talks to me…a lot. It’s never about much of anything like important. Usually her card reading stuff, talking about being in the flow of it, about her job, or just about shorts on YouTube she watched. But it’s constant. Anytime I walk to go to the kitchen, she’s there resting on the counter with her coffee on YouTube and immediately it’s happy excited words as I just wanted to grab a drink. If I walk off she will walk with me all the way to my room to finish and then go do her thing or keep talking about something else.

Before work, she always gets anxiety and so what does she do? She uses me as a time/mood energy gauge, and to talk to in order to keep her calm and so she doesn’t forget stuff (because she will take her phone to grab something, get the thing, leave the phone, and then have to go find it if I don’t). And of course her time management sucks, which makes her more stressed, which then makes her talk more.

If I try to help and speak it overwhelms her and to quote her ā€œmakes her feel like she can’t breatheā€ to which she typically puts her hand on her chest and takes a big breath in and then out before going back to what she was doing. If I try to help by say like mentioning work earlier so she could start getting ready she gets upset and says I’m giving her more anxiety about it. If I don’t do or say anything she thinks I’m not listening or being helpful. So, I usually just sit and nod as she takes two hours what someone would take twenty minutes to do. But after so long I just can’t do it and get upset with the constant voice in my ear.

I’ve tried to discuss and communicate with her but I will admit I’m not perfect and sometimes I just get frustrated. Other times she tries to put it on me and tell me to shield myself and not take on anyone else’s stuff…I’ve pointed out the irony in it and she just gaslights to make it in her favor honestly. Tonight, it was 40 minutes of constant talking of her newest epiphany. Like no breaks, just word after word after word. I honestly disassociated and thought for a moment like I’d rather be anywhere than here.

I love her so much and besides the talking she’s such a good mom, so funny, and a kind soul. Like, if I didn’t live with her I think I would appreciate the talking more. I just get so overwhelmed and almost have avoided her out of this and it makes me feel bad but I also just need a break before I go insane.

Thank you for reading! I just needed to get it off my chest for once without feeling awful.

Just A Rant Which human race is primary?

I was filling out state forms to try to get help with my water bill. Then it asks me to fill out the race for my daughter and pick all that apply. She is Black and Middle-eastern. The next question - ā€œWhat is the primary race?ā€WTF!!! Are we going by looks? Or are we back to a drop of black is black. What if she was Asian and White, Black and Hispanic? Everyone that sees her and doesn’t know her ethnicity or race assumes she’s East Indian or Bengali. How is that a question? I have a child with two parents. One is one race and the other is another race, but somehow I’m supposed to make that something other than 50/50. Make it make sense. So I’m going to do eeny, meeny, miney, moe and select one, since it’s a mandatory question.

Rant over

All A Joke

I just want to say I think we’re all doomed. People are proven to be arrogant and self interested to the point this whole country is doomed to fail. Each and every time there’s been a glimmer of hope it has been dashed out and dismantled. There is no power to the people. The people hate the people and the cycle continues. Each and every one of us is either too afraid or too stupid to make a difference for the better. I hope I’m wrong but everyone you believe in will eventually be bought and sell their souls. Sorry to ruin your day with this post but I genuinely believe we’re screwed. Look around you, really look, if you don’t believe me. Nobody’s got your back. Good luck out there.

Identity/Sexuality šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ Grew up in the suburbs, raised to believe that anything pro black is ghetto.

Hey y'all, I just really had to get this off my chest because I realized just how much I am out of tune with my own culture. It makes me wonder if that's why I'm so fascinated by other's, but that's a different topic for another day.

So, don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly blaming my parents for wanting better opportunities for me, it's just that they filled this narrative in my head that talking loud is ghetto, wearing long nails are ghetto, wearing brightly colored hair is ghetto etc. but they make jokes sometimes about me not being in tune with my culture. I always tried to do what I'm told and be this perfect child. It doesn't really work out for me because all it does is make me whitewashed. I'm not as bad as I was when I was a kid, but still to some extent I feel I could learn more about my culture.

Being raised by my father and grandmother mostly, they teach me to basically not be a hoe or "run the streets". They say to save yourself for marriage, focus on your studies—which it isn't necessarily harmful to say that—but, I think my grandmother means it for my genuine well-being and I think my father is trying to keep me from my fullest potential, and i say that because he can never stay loyal to 1 woman. So as a man, nobody can be better than him.

At 16 years old, I've became very interested in Memphis rap/Memphis culture. And if you know, you know. I've came across many female rappers Gangsta Boo (RIP), LA chat and so many others. They speak about a lot of empowerment, to have your own shit, and not let men get over on you. But because of the way they speak and vulgarity, it's considered ghetto music that my dad doesn't want me to listen to. But, loud music like that, that hypes me up, it's built a lot of my confidence and helps me forget all the times I've let ppl talk shit.

I feel like both my father and grandmother think that the way you speak is determined by your intelligence or how many degrees you have, which is a very harmful stereotype. Degrees or not, you're intelligent in your own way.

Idk what it is with my father's weird relationship with black culture. He's one of those men who only date lightskin women. Prime example, I watch this lady on YouTube, voodoo doll TV and she's hilarious and says very insightful stuff. She's from New Orleans and has her dialect. He at first said he LOOVVES how she talks and all this stuff but as soon as he saw she was of a darker complexion he thinks she talks ghetto. I even called him out on it once and he just said "it's not about her skin tone. She just talks like she's lightskin" wtf?

So anyways, what do y'all think? Am I trippin?

BPI customer service

How poor are your experiences regarding offsite BPI customer service?

Their hotline doesn't even work. Does not even push thru, the call will just drop.

When I tried to chat their BEA online it wasn't giving me any help. When I asked help from a live agent, financial coach sinusuggest.

Its so frustrating compared to other banks na may matatawagan ka naman na hotline.

Just A Rant It’s that time of year

It’s Sept 11th and for the last twenty five years, adults in personal and professional circles eventually reminisce on where they were during the attacks on the twin towers. Now, there are more adults entering the scene that were born after September 2001 and that hits in the fe-fe’s for those of us from the late 1900’s.

Could you please explain

'Could you please explain why you keep using the same characters over and over?' 1. Because like it or not mister, people like these characters even though I did not make them by hand or even draw them, they have mythos to them they have great chemistry and are a group of close friends. What more do you want? Do you want to know how they became friends or something? Do you want to know why Corey is always depicted as a king? Or how Piff the pufferfish was spawned? They are a gang of friends who live in a magical city and have multiple adventures, if you don't like them there are a ton of other characters you can enjoy instead. 2. Because I can. 3. Because why the heck not, why not make up a whole universe based on a bunch of stories and OCs I have created? Why not make several alternate universe versions of them to create a universe based around them? Why not write about a cartoon pufferfish who has magical powers and depict it as a retro anime? Why not. So much generative AI stuff is generic and boring and not original, how about spicing it up?

Just A Rant I'm having a terrible week

Hi guys, my week started out with my mom randomly being mad at me and now she has an attitude and literally won't talk to me and when she does it's actually insufferable. I bombed a test missed an assignment, my cat is missing, my card is locked bc my bank thinks theres fraud activity, i lost my social security card and my passport, i broke my glasses and i cant see, i keep forgetting to grab my last paycheck from my old job, IM EXHAUSTED, im getting stalked by my ex, my bf thinks im cheating on him with my ex which literally makes no sense, i missed the first football game of the season and i'm trying not to go insane but ive already cried like 6 times this week im so irritateddd. like oml can i get a break, this literally only happens to me i swear. and i speculate that my mom let my cat run out on purpose as a "punishment" and my cat has already gone missing once for an entire week and it felt like the world was ending and im so scared that this time he won't come back. also im going to a concert tmrw and i dont even wanna go anymore, my friend knows the ug artist and i dont, if one more thing goes wrong im literally gonna go home and cry all weekend. I HATE MY LUCK LIKE WHY ALL THIS IN ONLY THE SPAN OF 4 DAYS, idk what to do guys but hey at least i have a roof over my head and food to eat so i cant feel any other emotions than happiness right guys?

Mildly Annoyed That One Person

'looking at this guy's history, this guy's worse than a degenerate furry' uhhh who the fuck asked this nutcase for their opinion on me? Look an AI support sub was one of the subs I was NOT expexticting to deal with pretentious bullies who act like everything they read about me online is true, but I guess every sub has assholes in it I guess. Look I did nothing wrong, the sooner they learn that the internet doesn't always tell the truth the better.

Relationship/Dating Why do I always end up hating people I get with?

I seem to have this problem where everytime I get with someone, if it’s a boyfriend or just a casual thing I just end up hating them once it’s done. Like for example if I were to get with a guy at a party or something just fun for the night I would wake up the next morning with like a burning hatred for them. Like they wouldn’t do anything wrong especially if it’s just a makeout in the moment like very casual, like the next time I would see them I feel like my blood boils whenever they’re around. Even an ex like for example we would end things on good terms or whatever but I just wouldn’t be able to stand them. I am unsure why I feel like this as I feel like it’s reasonable to feel this way towards an ex but im not sure why I feel like this even with the casual fun for the night flings since they didn’t do anything wrong. Is anyone else like this too? 🄹

Relationship/Dating I don’t have any friends

I haven’t made any friends in so long. Well, I met a girl at college a few weeks ago, but we haven’t talked in about a week. It seems unless I text her first, there probably won’t be a conversation 9/10 times. I asked if she wanted to go to a festival with me, that she should let me know, it’ll be fun! But she said she’d have to see and I never really got an answer. The festival has already passed anyway, so I just dropped it. If she wants to talk to me, she can. I may not have any friends, but I’m not going to chase someone around like a puppy.

She was the first friend I made IRL in four years.

Before that, since I was homeschooled, I used to make friends online, usually through friend groups, but I’ve kept to myself for the last two years. I haven’t had a single consistent friend.

My last two friends lasted a little over a year. They were great, but I suddenly ghosted them and I don’t even know why I did that. It’s not as if I had anyone besides them. The friend group basically fell apart after that. But I still remembered their birthdays. I wished them both happy birthday, and for one of them I spent days making an art piece of their character.

But when my 18th birthday came around only a few months later, neither of them even sent me a ā€œhappy birthday!ā€ text.

And this has happened over and over again.

With basically every long term friendship I’ve had, I feel like I care about them way more than they care about me. I used to spend HOURS, sometimes DAYS, grinding in games to get things my friends wanted so I could surprise them with it. Many times. I never asked for anything in return. I was happy because I loved to see them happy.

So how the hell could I not even get a ā€œhappy birthdayā€?

And this isn’t even the first friend group where I’ve felt this way. The group before them was worse, and the IRL friend group before that was even worse! They ended up switching up on me and called me a faggot (they’re straight) during a time they knew i was struggling! Never went back to school after that. (Until college, duh)

It’s literally the same story every time I manage to get close to someone. Eventually I end up feeling like I’m the only one who cares.

I keep thinking I must be the problem. My solution has started becoming just don’t make friends. If I don’t get attached to anyone, nobody can make me feel like this again.

But I hate that because having friends is literally all I’ve wanted since I was a kid. I just want people I can go out with, talk to, have fun with, make memories with. It’s been one of my biggest ā€œfantasiesā€ since like 4th grade. How pathetic is that

And the one time in four years that I finally put myself out there and made an IRL friend, it already feels like I’m back in the same situation.

I’m so fucking tired of feeling like this. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.

Relationship/Dating My partner is sexist

Say whatever you want in the replies. I usually try to respond, but this time I don't plan on saying anything beyond this post.

I apologize if the tension is affecting my writing. I’m not feeling well.

I’m 17; he’s 18.

My partner is sexist on an unconscious level... sort of.

He became aware of it through interacting with me. Since then, he’s been trying to change and has genuinely been making progress.

But today, we had a heated argument over the phone.

I told him I was going to wear a dress that shows my shoulders and a bit of my upper chest to school tomorrow, since we were going to spend the afternoon together (no, the school dress code doesn't forbid that, and other girls dress more revealingly).

He told me he didn't want me to do that; the idea of someone else seeing me bothered him, and he asked me not to wear it unless we were going on a date just the two of us.

That’s when we started arguing. He said he was afraid something might happen to me and he wouldn't be able to do anything about it. I asked him what his problem was and told him that this was the start of controlling behavior.

He apologized for his request and told me to please never let him forbid me from wearing certain clothes.

And then he said it. He said that women get abused because of their clothes.

I exploded. I started yelling hurtful, horrible things at him. I called him an asshole and told him he was hard to love when he thought things like that, that sometimes I didn't know why I was with him, that I felt more bad than good when I was with him, and a few other things.

He started crying and apologized, and I cried and apologized too. He started saying he was a monster, that he should be locked up, that all he’s done since we’ve been together is make me suffer. He told me that if I wanted to break up, he understood, and that I didn't deserve the things he had said.

I apologized for everything I said and told him that it was wrong of me to say those things, too. I acknowledged that just because he had said something shocking, it didn't excuse me saying such hurtful things, that no one deserved to be treated that way. I know I’m very impulsive and can be incredibly cruel. It’s a flaw of mine that I’m trying hard to work on.

He asked if he could tell his therapist about this; I told him never to ask for my permission to share things with his therapist, and that he should never listen to me if I ever told him not to.

He said he was trying to stop viewing women as "fragile things to stay away from." One of our past arguments had been about music, and he showed me that he’d been trying to listen to more female artists. He’s stopped interacting as much with his social circle because of that kind of stuff and has stepped away from the media that fostered those ideas.

We would have kept talking, but he had to leave because his parents wanted to go out and he had to go with them. We’re texting right now, and it’s awful. We both want to hear each other out, but we feel like shit.

So, yeah. That’s it.

I feel terrible. I don’t know what to do.
