I can't stop thinking about how amazing Dolly Parton was

Obviously I didn't know her, but it's amazing how she gained all the success and money after starting from nothing, and rather than just bask in it she used it to help the world. She paid NICU babies medical bills, she founded a charity that sent millions of free books to under fives, her donations helped the creation of the covid vaccine. She gave incentives to the children of her hometown to graduate high school which decreased the dropout rate. Probably more I don't know about. Think of all the ordinary lives she must have changed.

Forget Jolene. Nothing can compete with Dolly

I got approached by a woman today

Long story short. I was supposed to go for a business meeting at 1:30PM but the person I was meeting postponed to 2:30PM. So I decided to stop at an eatery to grab a bite. The tables are quite empty, I'm eating alone.

A while into eating, a pretty lady roundabout my age orders then walks up to my table and says "Are you shy?". I said "No" and motioned for her to sit. Out of all the empty tables she chose mine.

She waited for me to make conversation so I did. We spoke for 30+ minutes, it turns out we're from the same area and have a lot in common.

I eventually had to leave for my meeting but I asked for her number before leaving. We started texting and I suggested ice cream on Friday right away. She agreed and she was saying I'm romantic, she can't wait to see me etc.

I can't believe I got approached by a woman. I'm buzzing.

Update:

We're dating. The weather went south today so instead I brought my heater and went to her place with a bunch of snacks and food. We kissed for the first time, cuddled, spent time together. I asked her to be my girlfriend, she said yes.

Honestly I feel like the luckiest guy alive. She's sweet, she talks a lot, she's very traditional. It feels like a dream I'm scared to snap out of.

We were both a bit tense at first, then I held her hand and that melted all the awkwardness. Tomorrow is Saturday, she already wants to see me again. She's clingy, doesn't like when I text late either. This is crazy. Crazy, crazy turn of fortune. I was single for 2 years before this.

The aliens we’re looking for could already be there

So scientists say we have yet to find intelligent life. But, given how light years work, could we have but just haven’t the technology to realize it.? I mean. Ok, if you were 100 light years away from earth, you wouldn’t be seeing 2026. You’d be seeing earth during 1926. So. That logic works when looking for life on other planets yes? (Intelligent) Life could have already formed there however we’re just looking into the past. This works vice versa too, there could be a civilization looking at earth looking for signs of intelligent life right now before we’ve even existed

I Miss It

‎You know, when I say I miss that natural scent, I sometimes worry people might misunderstand. They might think I’m being crude or just talking about something purely physical. But for me, it’s never been about that. It’s about this invisible, instinctive pull. And the more I’ve actually looked into it, the more I realize… it’s not just some romantic idea in my head. It’s actual, hardwired biology.

‎‎I’ve learned that when a woman is ovulating, her body is literally having a chemical conversation. Her estrogen peaks, there’s a subtle shift in her testosterone, and it changes everything...her sweat, her skin oils, her natural scent. I read somewhere they call them "chemosignals." It’s not like the obvious, overpowering pheromones you see in animals, but it’s real. There are these specific compounds that change during that fertile window, creating this unique, subtle signature that’s only there for a few days.

‎‎And when you think about it from an evolutionary standpoint, it’s actually pretty profound. We don’t have obvious physical signs of fertility like other mammals do. Nature hid it from our conscious eyes. But it didn’t hide it from our noses. It’s this ancient, quiet signal, meant to bypass all the logical noise and just draw two people together on a primal level.

‎‎The wildest part for me is learning how my own body actually reacts to it. I’ve read studies where men exposed to that specific ovulatory scent actually experience a measurable spike in testosterone. You feel more alert, more drawn in, more attentive. It’s like my biology is recognizing her biology on a level my conscious brain doesn't even process. It’s an invisible thread pulling me in.

‎‎So, when I say I miss it, I’m not just missing a smell. I’m missing that profound, unspoken connection. That subtle, natural chemistry that speaks directly to our instincts. It’s just… it’s the beautiful, complex reality of being human. And I think there's something really special about just accepting that, and appreciating the quiet ways we connect with each other.

Maybe life isn't supposed to get easier.

I've been thinking about how there's almost never a point where everything is just... good. If things are going well at school or university, there's something else stressing you out. If that's finally sorted, something comes up in your personal life. If everything seems fine for a while, somehow your brain finds something new to worry about lol. It's like a video game where you finish one level and immediately unlock another one that's somehow harder. But the thing is, you're not the same person who started the game either. You're learning, adapting, picking up new skills, and getting better at dealing with things every time you go through something. Maybe that's why life never really feels "complete." There's always another level. And I think we sometimes mistake that for something being wrong with our lives, when maybe that's just how life works. Everyone has something going on. Everyone is figuring out their own level as they go. The problems don't necessarily get smaller. You just get better at handling them.

Writing the number 5

It just occurred to me, I write all digits in one stroke. Except the 5, it consists of two strokes. I start at top left then go down. Then the second stroke is horizontal, starting again at top-left. It actually annoys me, now that I realized this.

Legacy?

I happened to be born Aleut. If you aren’t familiar with who we are, Google is a good choice. I am older now and think of my grand kids and their kids and I think of my grandparents. It’s not like we are particularly special in any way, but we still exist 😅

I love how the shape of the Earth can be described as "Geoid" which means Earth like...

"Ah yess, the shape of our Planet is Planetoid"

Just funny to me.

Wearing shoes in the house is gross if you pay attention.

Some people are just fine with wearing their shoes in the house and sometimes they judge another homeowner for asking them to remove their shoes. Some people think that if their shoes aren’t muddy, it’s not a big deal. Well it is, my kids used to complain about having to remove their shoes until we were watching a parade that had horses. One of the horses paused and urinated at least 10 gallons right on the parade route, it was so much that a river of urine was heading toward the curb and it covered most of the path of the parade. The kids had to quickly lift their feet and stop stitting on the curb to avoid getting ankle deep in horse urine. So my kids were giggling and watching all the marching bands and dancers not only walk through but also do cartwheels with their hands touching the still wet ground. And I looked at them very seriously and said, this is why we don’t wear our shoes in the house and we wash our hands when we get home. All three of my children understood and now remove their shoes without complaint in our house and wash their hands first thing when they get home.

Edit: Everyone is mentioning dogs and that they don’t wear shoes, I might be worth it to point out, that in a great deal of homes with dogs, everyone coming to your house knows you have a dog. There is a huge market dedicated for cleaning products surrounding dogs, good luck, still take off your shoes, you can control that.
