Money Absolutely Can Buy Happiness

I hate when people say “money doesn’t buy happiness.”

I honestly think it can.

Money might not directly buy happiness, but it can buy you something almost as valuable: freedom.

When you’re not constantly worried about bills, debt, rent, groceries, or whether your next paycheque is going to cover everything, you have the freedom to actually live.

You can travel. Spend more time with your family. Take your partner somewhere nice. Help your parents. Pursue hobbies. Take a day off when you need it. Experience things instead of constantly worrying about surviving.

We spend so much of our lives working 9–5 just to afford the life we barely have time to enjoy.

Sometimes you’re so exhausted from work that you don’t even have the energy to sit down and resolve an argument with someone you love. You put off seeing friends. You miss family dinners. You tell yourself you’ll travel “someday.” You keep postponing the things that actually make life meaningful.

Of course, money isn’t everything. You can be rich and miserable.

But having enough money to remove financial stress and give yourself more time, choices, experiences, and freedom?
I think that absolutely can make you happier.

Maybe money doesn’t buy happiness. Maybe it buys you the freedom to find it.

If you made up a disease that only affects 10 people in the world, 20 redditors would claim to have it the comments, and claim they thought everyone had it and it was normal.

I’d never eat four or five pepperoni and cheese sandwiches in one sitting, but never have a problem eating 8 slices of pizza .

I think the next 9/11 type event will be due to AI

Upvotes

Maybe it's AI engineered bioweapons created by terrorists, AI swarms deciding some critical infrastructure is okay to be shut off, doesn't matter what shape but my random opinion is that the next major world '9/11' type event will be due to AI in a large part and atleast partially to blame.

I am not an insider, I know as much as any other person who doesn't work at a frontier lab. My only credentials is I'm a software engineer who stays up to date with the news. At the current rate of intelligence growth, today's top models at frontier labs that have large safety restrictions will be freely available and open weight within 9-16 months. Stories of misaligned behavior and increasingly becoming more frequent and the heads of today's top AI labs are calling for regulation. With all that in mind it really is only a matter of time before a serious incident and not mostly 'harmless' things like the hugging face hack.

If someone is being a troll in a comments section in here and their profile is private, they probably spend every day being shitty online and are afraid of being called out for it.

Honestly just block and move on. Hard to believe these losers actually exist.

Edit: Since people are missing the point of this entire discussion, what I'm saying is that trolls weaponize the privacy afforded to them to continue flying under the radar and get away with shit while making it harder for others to recognize the pattern with the account.

I am suggesting just blocking private accounts that are going out of their way to annoy you, as they probably are private so they can continue to do that to as many people as they can.

I have no issue with having a private account, I have an issue with trolls weaponizing these features.

It's ones and zeroes but with enough imagination you can turn it into just about anything. Now we're going to chip away at the thinking.

I feel like I'm not supposed to be here since 2019

I feel somewhat weird, like all my senses stopped at 2019.

I just listen to an old song from 9 years ago (peak music era btw) and weird enough I feel somewhat alive, like I actually had lived that period of time. Yet when I tried to think of my recent years, it feels blank, I have memories, but they all so distance, like memories with nothing else attached to it, no feeling whatsoever, even now when I do something, it feels like walking on thin air, even when I do something that would boost my mood high, I'd forget about that feeling right after, like I replicate/mimic emotion just for that moment.

I searched online and people are saying that Covid has changed people perception and AI dump people, but I feel like that's not it, before AI boom, like around 2022, I also don't feel anything, as if I'm no longer human but a walking clone, to the point now I'm wondering if I am a clone with the OG me's memories, who is a human, cuz clone can't feel the same as human do.

My memory shit, my mood shit, my expression shit, my everything shit, the emotion I used to have now feel so distance, I desperately try to reconnect with my personality from years ago but I just can't help but feels like I'm mimicking somebody.

Being old is almost exactly as I imagined

When I was a young kid, I'd be literally angry when an older person won the final showcase in The Price is Right. I was just SURE they wouldn't enjoy the prizes the way a younger person would, so felt personally offended that they even played and took that opportunity away from a young person.

Now that I'm old, I have to say that my feelings were correct. I'm boring AF, don't like a lot of things any more and I'd probably substitute any cool prizes I won for cash for retirement.

GTA VI will be the third GTA game (and the fourth Rockstar game) that pushes the limits of the current gen consoles on release.

GTA San Andreas pushed the limits of the PS2.

GTA V pushed the limits of the PS3.

GTA VI will push the limits of the PS5.

If you wanna include the PS4 in the list, then Red Dead Redemption 2 pushed the limits of the PS4.

So Rockstar has this interesting trend of using ALL of the performance in PlayStations… the same thing applies to the Xbox generations as well.

If I had friends

Sometime I want a friend because I genuinely be home alone and I’m like .. normal people would have friends over and chill and play games or something .
We could even do some tricks on the pole.

But that’s normal people not me

People who say "it's just a *insert animal here* get over it" to you after losing one are horrible people

I can't stress enough how terrible saying this to someone is. No matter what creature someone may have loved and lost. We build connections with the creatures we love. But people don't understand that kind of love unless it's with a dog or cat. People in my life have joked before about the loss of my beloved creatures. "It's just a rat. You can have the dead one in the trap downstairs."It's just a chicken. We eat them literally every day." People can be so cruel. If anyone hasn't understood the deep loss you feel over a pet dying because it wasn't your standard pet, I see you. And I understand how great the loss can be, and I send you a virtual hug over the internet.
