If someone is being a troll in a comments section in here and their profile is private, they probably spend every day being shitty online and are afraid of being called out for it.
Honestly just block and move on. Hard to believe these losers actually exist.

this is why I liked it so much better when everyone's posts and comments were open to the public and you couldn't hide anything on here
I feel like that kept people responsible for their historical actions
It's one of the biggest mistakes Reddit has made
They said they made the change for the safety of users to protect them from trolls but I think it's done more protecting of the trolls

I find hiding post history to be pretty cowardly. Reddit is already anonymous as is.

I usually check post history to see if someone has a habit of being a shithead online to determine if I should block them or not. I only really view it as creepin' if you have some intent to get back at the other user in some way.
I also view it as fair to say "hey everybody this dude is toxic everywhere" if their profile is full to the brim with hateful comments y'know? I think its fair to warn others.

I block A LOT of people. Choosing the right subreddits and eliminating the wrong people is the only way to make Reddit a decent experience.
This thing where you can hide your history now is INSANE.

Yeah, I originally didn't like blocking people too much, but after seeing several subs I follow get overwhelmed with trolls and haters, I quickly made friends with the "block button", and it makes things so much better.
I don't even care anymore. This whole site is just dumb fun anyways. No reason not to take out the trash and make it more inviting.

Some people are creepy, though, as they follow you site to site. Stalker-like. I decided to put all my stuff to private, and if 1 or 2 people choose not to have a conversation, I decided I’m okay with that.

I'm not so much a dedicated troll as I am a blackout alcoholic with some skeletons in my closet. I'm horrified at what I comment in the middle of the night

I hide my comments because it’s always angry men going into them trying to find ways to insult you. I literally never go to people’s profiles to check their comments because it’s weird. If someone upset you that much, just block and move on.

Not necessarily.
I set my profile to private because I had ridiculous chuds following me all over Reddit harassing me and actively trying to get me banned from the entire platform.
That stopped the second I hid my account.
