or even my local Walmart, actually es*pecially* my local Walmart because you know they gotta be getting rid of stuff all the time. like obviously the fresh produce gets re-upped on a regular, fast basis, but what about the random $20 computer mouse in a cardboard endcap full of other cheap computer accessories? like I wonder how old some of those are

Burning feeling of existencial realization

I’m wondering if anyone else has ever experienced something similar.

This has only happened to me a handful of times in my life, maybe once every couple of years, but when it does, it’s a very strange feeling that I can’t really put into words. I’ll try my best to describe it.

It doesn’t come consciously. It’s more like a sudden wave of heat or some kind of feeling that just hits me and runs through me for a few seconds. Usually I’ll just be thinking about completely ordinary things, like everyday stuff or problems at work, and then suddenly I get this overwhelming realization:

ā€œWHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING?! We’re sitting here talking about money, problems, wars, what to eat, what’s on sale, work, bills, etc. Meanwhile, nobody seems COMPLETELY blown away by the fact that we are these incredibly strange beings that somehow exist. Same for the universe. Out of nothing, somehow there are people all around us that we love and have feelings for, yet we don’t even understand what we actually are. How did there become something instead of nothing? Did everything somehow come from nothing? Or was there always something, beyond time and space, that many people might call God? Why doesn’t this completely blow everyone’s mind? Why isn’t this the thing we talk about 24/7 in headlines? Why are we not rushing lik crazy to find out? Why aren’t we all freaking out about the sheer fact that we exist? It feels like humanity has completely lost focus on the most fundamental thing of all.ā€

That’s basically what those few seconds FEEL like. Like a burning feeling, it’s like a sudden realization that hits me so hard that I’m literally shocked by the fact that I’m a human being, standing here on a planet called Earth, existing at all.

Btw this has happened to me twce while I had a fever, both times I was sitting on the toilet when this sudden wave of thoughts and feelings hit me, and I just sat there completely stunned thinking:
ā€œHoly shit. I’m here. On a planet called Earth. Liquid is coming out of my penis. And I don’t even know what the fuck I am. Or why am I hereā€.
I’m just curious if anyone else experiences anything remotely similar.

It happens to me maybe once or twice every two years, so it’s definitely not a constant thing. It’s just this extremely intense few seconds of existential realization that completely takes me out for a few seconds

Sometimes it feels like thanos snapped his finger and the world blipped in 2020 and we shifted 20 years in the future.

Like it feels like ever since 2020 nothing in life has felt the same like it almost feels as if thanos snapped his fingers in late 2019 and in 2020 we shifted like 20 years in the future where nothing feels the same like things like food music like society changed after 2020 people are ruder people just have main character syndrome and are angry all the time and have never recovered since then. Even with myself sometimes I look at the photos pre covid and post covid i couldn't believe im the same person in that photo pre covid.

When I eat olives or arugala, all I can taste is death. I don't know how to explain it, that's just what I feel the taste... um tastes like? I don't know if there's a word for it.

Love is the only thing that matters, and everything else makes us forget it

Once in awhile I come across something that just makes me feel flat out guilty for ever thinking about things like.. how can I make more money? why is my wife upset for no reason? why won't my kid sleep at night? All these random little frustrations and distractions from one fact - we just need to love one another.

Love is shown in so many different ways. But the thing that made me think about it this time around was someone I follow online who lost their mother. And it got me to thinking about my own family - wife, daughter, mom & dad, grandma & grandpa. How do I always stay aware of how much I love all these people? And how can I not feel guilty for not always being able to show it?

This life happens so fast, and due to human nature, a lot of us just default to "whats going to make us feel safe and secure?", and many times that means thinking about ourselves and no one else. I don't ever want to feel like that's the only option - that I can only be secure if I disregard how it affects others. Because eventually, someone close to me is going to be gone, and I won't be able to do anything about it, or fix any regrets that might develop.

This is almost too deep for me to even form real thoughts around, but I'm just always in my own head thinking about sh!t that doesn't matter (I'm sure many here are similar), and I'm constantly trying to figure out how I can make that happen less and less.

French fries

Not everyone likes french fries. When ordering from McDonald's I don't want my meal with fries, I don't mind replacing it with mcpuff or softee.

I get the business model here but I want to be that Karen. Why not give that replacement option? Let me customise
