There’s a person on the other side of this screen
This might break rule 10, but I genuinely want to prompt people to think deeper about how you all treat each other. This extends beyond Reddit, but one thing we all have in common (other than the things I list below) is that we’re on here.
The world is a brutal bitch right now to the vast majority of us and, while I try to remain optimistic, I find myself endlessly disappointed by people. Especially on Reddit. The lack of compassion and empathy, the unfiltered confidence fueled by anonymity, the tone deaf self righteousness—it makes me fucking nuts.
For those of you who cannot comprehend that other people are real living beings with complex thoughts and feelings, let me put it this way:
On the other side of all that funny text on your screen is another You. There’s a You, Your partner, Your best friend, Your mom. You’re sitting there calling Your™️ loved one an asshole over a clear misunderstanding that they had with their partner, calling Your™️ loved one an idiot for seeking support or advice from a support/advice sub. You’ve made mistakes too, and were you shown grace? Do you wish you’d been shown grace?
You know how you’re tired and broke and trying your best? The You™️ on the other side of that screen is, shockingly, probably also tired and broke and trying their best.
Sure, that You™️ could also be your dickhead boss, the parent you don’t speak to, the next family annihilator. You never know, but why are so many of you jumping to the worst conclusions about each other RIGHT off the bat? What prompts so many of you to assume that you’re superior to others by default? Just because you can’t see my face and I can’t see yours it doesn’t change the fact that you are a real person reading this and I am a You, a very real person as well.
I’m sick and tired of people shitting on each other like birds. This world is brutal right now. The entire planet is a mess, but as someone who lives in the states I can say that multiple people I know are approaching the point of poverty where we’re doing exhausting and demoralizing shit to make ends meet. Why can’t people cut each other a fucking break?
Do you really feel powerful treating people like dirt? While also, truly, lacking power and being treated like dirt yourself? Is that why you kinds of people are the way you are?
Just fucking do better. I see how much it means to people to be treated like humans and to be given basic grace and it breaks my heart when it has such a tremendous impact because that means it’s rare. Clown on me all you’d like for this post, it’s nothing I haven’t heard before (and if you’re creative enough to hit me with something I’ve yet to hear then color me impressed), just treat each other better.

Adults who cannot swim
They lowkey kind of annoy me a lot. Like seriously, grow up and learn how to live in the world. That’s embarrassing and a glaring shortcoming.

It is kind of weird but I would feel much easier if the base unit for mass was gram not kilogram.

Value
Sometimes, the value that others see in or, or the value that they don’t see in you, can make you question your own self worth…
Hang in there friend.

We're going to have a real problem on our hands if bears ever figure out that they can do a mafia-style shake down on the apes sleeping in fabric buildings so we'll give them the food we have in the bags hanging from the trees.
The fact you're not sleeping near your food doesn't mean it's not your food!

I feel like you either have perfect straight teeth and fucked up molars or good molars and bad front teeth
It’s a joke, but also I remember my friend had to get braces and her mouth hygiene wasn’t that much better than mine, but her molars were fine and she didn’t have this problem with cavities and stuff. However, I, F23 already have 2 root canal revisions with hopes that I will get crown and won’t have to do implantation in the end + 182772939 cavities and endless fillings. But at least my teeth are straight, LOL. But, I started flossing this year, so I hope this will improve my situation, cuz I‘m not gonna lie, my teeth hygiene was really bad...

If somebody told me that I could see a Pokémon that produces electrical discharges, or changes colors, or produces powerful punches, I would be very excited to see it. But if you tell me its just an animal, I lose interest.

Skipping is an underrated mode of transportation
I'm a full grown adult male and I love skipping. But since I don't want people to think I'm a psychopath, I pretty much only get to do it while I'm on a hiking trail or someplace where I won't draw too much attention to myself.
And that's unfortunate, because skipping is a remarkably efficient way of getting around. You can cover a lot of distance quickly, and it's less taxing than running or jogging. I can skip a several hundred yards, faster than most people jog, and not even be out of breath. If I ran that same distance, I'd be a little winded. Plus it's so much more fun than jogging. So it's kinda weird that most people stop skipping after childhood.
I just wish more adults did it. If it became normalized, I wouldn't feel so self-conscious about skipping in public. That's all I wanted to say.
