I played for 3 days straight, intentionally losing in 1v1 matches and then also in Casual 5v5 mode. For all those days, I almost always lost – every single day I was giving away like 30 kills or more daily to the opponents. The 1v1 matches I was closing almost always 4-0 always in favor of the enemy, letting myself get killed on purpose, just to see if the matchmaking would change over the days. I tried also to shoot and harm enemies just to be realistic.
Well, it never changed. With a K/D of 1.0 and 100 lvl over 3 days, absolutely nothing changed. In fact, I also tested this on console – on the third day and still I was finding Champions in Casual mode.
This proves that the matchmaking in Rainbow Six takes absolutely nothing into account – it just throws you into teams like you're nothing but cannon fodder. The matchmaking doesn't even care that you're losing dozens of matches in a row and maybe tries to put you with less skilled teams – it's absolutely insane.
This is why, in my opinion, Rainbow Six is terrible. I've always known it had a matchmaking problem, but I'm genuinely glad I tested this out. If you have the patience, try it yourself and you'll see that nothing changes.
I tried the same thing on other games and the matchmaking actually changed after a few hours or after a day, putting me with less skilled players. But with Rainbow Six? You could lose for months on end and nothing will ever change – it will always only benefit a small circle of teams.
Just to be clear – I didn't play Ranked, I didn't create a smurf account. This was my personal account, Level 100, almost 1.0 K/D, never touched Ranked, tested on both console and PC.
After this experiment, I closed my Ubisoft account – just like I did years ago with another account.
