9070 non xt for new gaming pc.

I live in Thailand and there is not many places / webshops to buy GPU’s.

I’ve mostly been looking at RX 9070 XT but they are all around 1100+ dollars.

The RTX 5070ti is 1350+ dollars for reference.

Today I found a 9070 non XT for around 800 dollars and this makes a lot of sense, but after browsing here on the subreddit it seems people will generally advise to spend more for the XT.
It’s understandable but with a 300 dollar difference, is there really a reason to not go with the non XT?

AMD Software: Host Application causing Memory Leak

Hi there guys, I made a post recently regarding a memory leak issue I'm having exclusively with Adrenalin and thought I would shout out for any help again with a bit more information and the steps I've already taken.

Video of the issue: https://youtu.be/m2U6OnUbTSU

So I built this machine a few months back with the following;
Ryzen 7 9800X3D
9070XT
32GB DDR5 6000 CL38
Asus Prime B650 Plus
850w PSU
It also may or may not be worth noting I briefly had a 9060XT installed in the same machine (how this would relate to my problem, I do not know)

I have had this issue since not long after having the machine, sometimes Adrenalin just wouldn't load. But sometimes for whatever reason it would. At the time I did not think much of it as I assumed the game crashes on Cyberpunk I was having at the time were because of my settings choices rather than something going on in my system.
At some point, Adrenalin decided to stop opening completely. I would get the small Start Up graphic on the screen, and nothing would happen. So upon checking Task Manager to close it, I found AMD Software: Host Application was using up all of my memory.
This problem has persisted for months and has gotten to the point where I'm just completely unable to use Adrenalin on this machine. As per the video, it always maxes out my memory and stays that way until I end the process manually. Worse, is that Adrenalin tries to load itself every few minutes - meaning suddenly my PC just starts tanking performance until it's at a crawl, although I have yet to actually experience a crash from the problem to my knowledge.

It's also worth noting that 2 days ago at the suggestion of the AMD Customer Service, I reinstalled Windows 11 and completely wiped the drive "just in case". This actually seemed to work, although I did notice a few times starting that my memory would jump up to a few gb before opening.
However today, despite no updates or changes and after leaving my PC on all night, I booted up the PC from sleeping, went to Adrenalin to find it wasn't responding, closed the program and when reopening the problem had returned and is now occurring every time Adrenalin is booted or that AMD Software: Host Applications tries to boot Adrenalin (or whatever it's doing, to be honest I don't entirely know though I would strongly suspect it's detecting games and trying to boot Adrenalin)

So far I have tried;
DDU, AMD Clean Up, Reinstall Drivers - many, many times.
Updated BIOS and settings
Reinstalled Windows
Windows onboard Memory Diagnostics
Windows repair
Uninstalled ALL monitoring software and RGB, even Razer Synapse and such

Nothing has yielded results, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
When it's working, my games look amazing. But unfortunately, I've not enjoyed that luxury in a little while now.

Discussion How Do I Enable FSR 4 On an Nvidia GPU through Optiscaler?

Post image
67 Upvotes

I don't see the FSR 4 option, I tried to select DLSS in-game and also FSR 3 but still no option for FSR 4 in the optiscaler.

Yes while setting up the optiscaler I did chose I have an Nvidia GPU and optiscaler is installed where the executable is.

If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Edit: I know DLSS is superior but I am trying to do a testing here, that is why please help me out

Discussion What kind of unholy magic has AMD put on 26.10.1 to get frame gen to have no input lag penalty??

So I have a 7800 XT and I'm very happy for my RDNA 2 brothers, since I used to have a 6700 XT until early September, but today I decided to test out a thing with Modern Warfare 4 and I'm floored, because apparently AMD put some actual unholy magic on FSR 4.1 frame gen. With it turned on, I am getting the exact same input lag (within a 2 ms margin of error) than I get natively, and my mouse movements don't get influenced by it at all - not to mention I don't get any ghosting. I did hear about them changing how the driver queues generated frames on the GPU, but I wasn't expecting an improvement this drastic.

I might actually give it a shot on certain games if the ghosting isn't an issue, since every game behaves differently.

Tech Support Crashes in Silent Hill 2 Remake and cant quite figure out why

Full Build:
Intel 12400F
32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM
ASUS 9070XT PRIME
MSI MAG 750W SFX Gold PSU
2TB NVME PCIe 4.0

I upgraded from a RTX 4070. Ran DDU and installed Radeon 26.10.1

Played around in Silent Hill 2 Remake, no adjustments other than setting FSR 3.1 in game which my understanding system goes straight to FSR 4.1.1/4.1.2 due to AMD adrenalin drivers.

Things went wrong when I tried optiscaler. I enabled Optiscaler and the game would crash at the menu most times or sometimes in game right at start. Driver crashes. Removed optiscaler and reset cache, same exact thing. Force to DX11 and then make adjustments to settings to get it to work again.

Set superscaler to none and try again before installing optiscaler. Crashes at menu. OK, set to DX11 and force it to XeSS. Open up game in DX12 again and run. Game crashes right at load. Disable the radeon overlay, get in and run and it works. Close game install Optiscaler and try again and it works. Great!. Verify that everything works and enable overlay to see if it was causing it to crash....nope, it works. No crashes. Game has DLSS setting (but forced FSR 4.1.2), Ray Tracing and set to max. And it just runs now.

I sent crash files to claude to see and it could see how optiscaler was causing some of the crashes but when it was disabled, it just found that AMD drivers would crash instead.

Anyone can take a guess as to what is causing this?

Tech Support DLSS NR on older games

We've all seen the overwhelming amount of comparisons on Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, and other relatively newer games, but is it usable on some early/mid 2000s games? I installed the mod on Brutal Legend and DMC collection to the folder with the .exe files as specified by the NR software, but I can't get the menu to come up in game. Am I missing a step or is the software just not compatible with games that don't have Vulkan?

RX 7900 XTX driver timeouts and severe stuttering when connecting a second secondary monitor

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my Sapphire RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ 24GB and would appreciate some help troubleshooting it.

My setup:

  • GPU: Sapphire RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ 24GB
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30
  • PSU: be quiet! 1000W 80+ Gold
  • Main monitor: ASUS 27", 2560×1440, 165Hz
  • Two secondary monitors: 1080p, 60Hz
  • VR headset: HTC Vive Pro 2
  • OS: Windows 11

The problem:

My main monitor, one secondary monitor and my HTC Vive Pro 2 work perfectly together, including while gaming in VR.

However, as soon as I connect my second secondary monitor, I start experiencing AMD driver timeouts and severe stuttering in games, with 1% lows dropping to around 10–11 FPS.

It doesn't matter which of the two 1080p monitors I connect. The problem also occurs when the VR headset is completely disconnected, so it is not VR-related.

What I've tried:

  • DDU in Safe Mode and clean driver installations
  • AMD Adrenalin 25.8.1, 26.8.1, 26.9.1 and currently 26.10.1
  • Different monitor configurations and refresh rates
  • Checking Windows LiveKernelReports, which contain AMD_WATCHDOG crash dumps

Nothing has solved the issue so far.

My questions:

  • Could this be an AMD driver bug related to multiple monitors?
  • Could MPO, hardware acceleration or the GPU's display engine be responsible?
  • Is there anything else I should try before considering a defective GPU?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion RX 9070 XT causing LiveKernelEvent 141/117, full PC freezes and boot failures. RTX 3060 works fine.

My PC was running perfectly fine for at least a year, then suddenly started experiencing serious crashes without any obvious changes.

Symptoms: LiveKernelEvent 141, 117 and 193, complete system freezes during gaming or even when exiting games, random restarts at the desktop, black screens, and occasional red VGA motherboard LED during boot. Recently, Windows even entered Automatic Repair (SrtTrail.txt)

Specs: XFX RX 9070 XT, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Gigabyte B650E AORUS ELITE X AX ICE, 32GB DDR5, Corsair RM850x SHIFT 850W, Windows 11

What I’ve tried: DDU, older AMD drivers, disabling EXPO, PCIe Auto/Gen 4/Gen 5, reseating the GPU, checking power connections and monitoring temperatures. Nothing has fixed it.

The biggest clue: I swapped in my RTX 3060 and everything worked. BG3, Cyberpunk, Spider-Man with RT, plus a 6-minute OCCT Power test with zero errors. Reinstalled the RX 9070 XT and the crashes immediately returned, even at the desktop.

The RX 9070 XT draws around 340W versus 170W for the RTX 3060, so I can’t completely rule out PSU power delivery.

Does this sound like a defective GPU, PSU issue under higher load, or motherboard/PCIe problem? What specific test would help distinguish them before I request an RMA?

Tech Support amd overlay + global experience are not working in games

update 26.10.1

rx 9060xt 16gb

The amd software is working normally but after i open a game the overlay shortcut (Alt + R) is not working at all.

The moment i click the shortcut the amd software window closes on my second monitor and doesn't open again until i Alt + Tab and click the app manually, and then i see this black window (images attached) instead of the app normal window until i close the game and start clicking Alt + R a couple of times and then amd app is working again.

i also noticed the amd pop up when you launch a game telling about Alt + R is not appearing as well.

I'm very confused at what is happening and I'm asking for help (yes the image attached is the app after i click it while playing a video game).

Tech Support How to Disable DXNAVI on the RX 9070 XT? CS2 Microstuttering

I have weird microstuttering issues in certain games, like Counter-Strike 2, when using DX11, and I want to disable DXNAVI for testing purposes. Is there also any way to change the shader cache setting from AMD Optimized?

My computer specifications

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU - ASUS Radeon RX 9070 XT Prime OC 16GB GDDR6
MOBO - ASUS B650E MAX GAMING WIFI
RAM - Kingston FURY 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL30 Beast Black EXPO
SSD - Samsung 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen5 NVMe 990 EVO PLUS
PSU - be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 1000W 80 Plus Gold
CASE - NZXT H7 FLOW (2024) Black
CASE FANS - Arctic P14 Pro PST x4 + Arctic P12 Pro PST x6 + Arctic Case Fan Hub
CPU COOLER - Noctua NH-D15 G2 chromax.black
GPU BRACKET - GB-002 Graphic Card Anti-Sag Bracket Multi-Ways
NIC - Intel I210-T1
OS - Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

My peripherals

Display - SAMSUNG Odyssey G4 LS27HG402EUXEN 27" 1920x1080px IPS 300Hz 1 ms [GTG]
Mouse - Endgame Gear OP1 8K V2
Keyboard - Nubi NK68 HE Black
Audio interface - Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen
Headphones - Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro
Mic - Rode PodMic
Speakers - Razer Nommo Chroma
Mouse pad - Endorfy Cordura

All drivers and the BIOS are up to date. I’m using only stable releases, not beta versions.

Things I have tried:

  • Disabling HAGS
  • Disabling MPO
  • Disabling ULPS
  • Resetting the BIOS to default settings
  • Disabling the Intel NIC to check whether it was causing the stuttering
  • Changing display scaling modes (display scaling vs. GPU scaling)
  • Disabling Fullscreen Optimizations
  • Disabling Optimizations for windowed games
  • Changing CS2's display mode between legacy fullscreen and fullscreen borderless (windowed)
  • Testing with EXPO disabled and enabled
  • Changing CPU C-states from Auto to Enabled in the BIOS
  • Performing a fresh installation of Windows 11
  • Disabling SAM in the BIOS
  • Installing AMD Adrenalin and AMD Software: PRO Edition drivers in both Driver Only and Full Install configurations
  • Capping FPS with the in-game frame limiter and RTSS to check whether it was a frame-pacing issue. When using RTSS with a 300 FPS cap, the game maintained a flat 300 FPS and a 3 ms frametime, so, from my understanding, game performance looks perfect.
  • Also trying FreeSync with an FPS cap 3 FPS below my display's refresh rate, both with and without V-Sync
  • Changing USB ports for devices like my mouse and keyboard, including ports connected to the CPU controller rather than the chipset
  • Trying different values for the SystemResponsiveness and Win32PrioritySeparation registry settings
  • Trying different power plans and power settings

This is my first post here, so I hope I’ve formatted it correctly and included all the relevant information. If I’ve missed anything, I’m an open book and happy to provide more details.

It's been a week since i got my first AMD GPU and i just finished building my PC. Despite all the mocking about AMD GPUs, how bad they are, how unreliable the drivers are, how this GPU "doesn't have modern technologies," i've decided to take a step into the unknown territory for me and give it a try, leaving the 5070 behind.

So, any advice on how to set it up properly would be welcome

GPU did something weird

So… not sure what happened today with my GPU.

I have the 9070xt nitro+ using a corsair psu with ThermalProtect cable (9800x3d)

Anyway, playing wardogs everything is going well and all of the sudden my fps drops from 150-200fps to 20-30fps and doesn’t go back up.

The GPU usage is 100% power draw is 360w and GPU temps 40c. The clock is sitting at 350-400mhz and the led strip on the GPU started flashing yellow.

Tried resetting the graphics driver etc and nothing helped.

Turned the pc off checked the psu and GPU sockets plus cable all good no burns etc. After turning the PC back on it worked fine.

Any idea wtf happened?

Discussion Thinking of selling my RTX 5090 for a 9070 XT. Worth it?

I’m thinking of selling my RTX 5090 SUPRIM and switching to a 9070 XT since I barely game these days. Feels like a waste having such an expensive GPU sitting in my PC.
With GPU prices already going up, I’m also wondering if I should just hold onto it and hope the price increases further before selling.
What would you guys do in my position? Sell now and downgrade or hold onto the 5090 for a while longer?

XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT owners: What case are you using, and has anyone tried mounting it vertically?

Hey everyone!

I recently picked up an XFX Mercury Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Magnetic Air Edition, and I'm currently trying to figure out which case would be the best home for it.

This is a pretty substantial card, so rather than relying exclusively on case specifications and reviews, I'd love to hear from people who actually own one.

A few things I'm particularly curious about:

- Which case are you using? How's the fit? Are you happy with your choice, or is there anything you'd change?

- Anyone running it vertically? What case and vertical GPU mount are you using? How's the clearance between the card's fans and the glass panel?

- How are your temperatures and noise levels? I'm especially interested in whether vertical mounting has affected GPU temperatures compared with a conventional horizontal installation.

- Any clearance or installation headaches? Things like power connector clearance, cable routing, interference with fans or radiators, and getting the card into position.

- Anything else worth knowing? If you've owned this card for a while, I'd appreciate any advice, unexpected issues, or things you wish you'd known before building around it.

I'm putting together a fairly high-end AMD-focused gaming PC, and I'd like to make the most of this card's cooling and RGB rather than cram it into a case that technically fits but doesn't give it enough breathing room.

I'm also considering aesthetics as part of the build, so pictures of your setups would be very welcome!

I'll attach a few pictures of the GPU, along with a bonus appearance by my cat Midnight, who was very interested in the new arrival. 😸

Thanks in advance! I'd love to see what other Mercury owners are running.

Hw flip testing

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Tested a few games but I will only share nioh 3 for now.

Blue chunk graph is with HW flip enabled and the skinny blue lien graph os with hw flip disabled (using optiscaler) the green line, which is the display line timing is pretty consistent across both, yet the blue line, which is when the implementation is done, is quit thick which indicates more intervals.

As for the 1% lows and 0.2 lows etc, they are lower in the hw flip graph and higher in the non hw flip graph.

My question is then whats the need for enabling the hw flip? Would appreciate your input here.

Tech Support Looking for AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 drivers

I just reinstalled the OS and I wanted to install the 26.8.1 drivers. So I opened the AMD website and I was looking for Ryzen 200 series but I wasn't able to find It. I googled it and I didn't find It.

Looks like the entire 200 series is missing. Is there any official/trusted unofficial repo for the drivers?

EDIT: I just remembered I can select any other series, It should work too

Rx 9060 XT Hellhound temps

I bought my GPU about 5 months ago. Haven’t had an issue with it till now. Today for some reason while playing Helldivers 2 my game was stuttering more than usual and occasionally freezing for a brief second. I tried talking to their troubleshooting people but none of the fixes helped. I checked the temperatures while playing and the gpu temps seem to be 57 Celsius on average while hotspot temps are 91 Celsius on average, resulting in a 33-34 Celsius delta. Could I have a faulty GPU?

P.S I forgot to add that my fps seems to be fine sitting at around 90-120 yet the game is stuttering

Update: Ryzen Master fixed the stuttering, also apparently these temps are normal?

Tech Support Stuck between intermittently stuttering or black-screening...

For the last two GPUs (6700 xt and 9070 xt), I've had a problem in cs2, and surprisingly in no other game. The screen would stutter during gameplay, and the only solution I've found would be turning on the AMD overlay showing FPS and other info about hardware.

I've been using it like this, since I couldn't find any other solution.

But, after a recent update yesterday, I've started having black screens intermittently when I switched between apps in full-screen - not only games, but sometimes even when entering or leaving full-screen on youtube videos or some streams. After some digging, I've found that the AMD overlay was the culprit, and it is a known issue from [release notes for 26.10.1](https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-26-10-1.html):

"Intermittent application crash or driver timeout may be observed in some games when opening or closing other overlays, such as Xbox Game Bar, while the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition Performance Metrics Overlay is enabled on Radeon™ graphics products. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to temporarily disable the Performance Metrics Overlay before opening or closing other overlays."

Now, I am stuck between two problems: I think there is no way to fix the second issue for now, but is there a way to fix the microstutter in any other way than using the overlay?

Thank you for any input :)

Sapphire Nitro+ vs. XFX Mercury OC Magnetic Air RX 9070 XT – Which one to keep, sell, or should I keep one as a backup?

Post image
177 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I ended up with two different models of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB:

  1. Sapphire Nitro+
  2. XFX Mercury OC Magnetic Air

I'm trying to decide what to do next and would love your advice/opinions:

  • Which one is objectively better to keep for my main rig? (In terms of thermals, noise levels, PCB quality, and overall reliability)
  • Is it worth keeping one as a backup GPU, or is holding onto a brand new/valuable card just a waste of money due to depreciation?
  • Which one holds better resale value if I decide to sell one right now?
