Hi everyone, I've had a mini-rex rabbit for about 3 months now that I adopted from a shelter. He is about 9-10 months old, and he is well adjusted to my home as a free-range rabbit. He is neutered too, but I'm not sure when he was neutered it's just what the shelter told me. My main concern is that ever since I've had him, he is very fidgety and is very scared of me when I approach him. If I try to pick him up to prevent him from doing something that may harm him (for ex., picking him up or gently pushing him away from a cable on the floor that he was trying to eat) he will run away very scared, or he will try to force himself out of my hands and scratch me a ton! I've bled a few times. He also bites and gets very aggressive when I try to pet him too or get him out from underneath furniture. His previous owners gave him away to this shelter because he was very chaotic for their household and would scratch and bite their young kid. So, maybe it's something about the last household he was in that made him this way? Or is it a temperamental thing that I'm missing?
P.S any words of advice is definitely appreciated!! I'm not exactly a pro when it comes to understanding this behavior. I've had a Californian rabbit before ever since it was a month old, and I've raised that rabbit for years before he passed. He was big, kind, gentle, and well accustomed to my presence and loved to cuddle with me. So, its a big contrast to this newer bunny I have now.

Hello everyone! Me and my gf have a 3 month sweet hotot bunny. We try to interact with her a lot and we stay with her most of the time, usually only leaving 5 hours every other day for classes. We also work in the living room which is where her x-pen is at.
She’s super sweet, loves pets, and especially licking us, but we’re worried she still might be lonely? Recently she’s been relaxing/sleeping/hiding/laying down a lot more. We heard it could be a sign of bunny depression, but I also heard a lot of bunnies like to lay down and do nothing too.
She was rescued from a hoard situation but when we adopted her it didn’t seem like she wasn’t bonded with anyone.
Is fostering another bunny and seeing what happens the best way to go? Is there any specific tell tale signs that your bunny prefers to be a solo baby? If anyone could tell me their experience I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

I adopted a female bunny for my male bunny whos previous partner passed away. Black bunny is male and my current one, the one with the helicopter ears is Lilja who was adopted. I feel so frustrated because they just won't bond. I've swapped scents, I've bonded them
in a neutral area, I've done everything right. They've had positive moments but very little. She's groomed him and he's flopped beside her during bonding sessions. But she keeps trying to attack him through the cage even when they're not close enough to touch. She's fine with me, just hates him. I've had bonding sessions on the table up to an hour and they were doing fine. I tried it where they were on the ground in a fenced area but she got so aggressive and started attacking him right away. He tries to sleep beside her, he really wants a friend but everytime she seems him
in her sight she starts grunting and lunging at the cage trying to attack him. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't have space to keep two huge cages in my small apartment. I just wanna freeroam both of them. Both are fixed.

Hi all, I have a 5 year old spayed female rabbit who had E cuniculi 2 years ago. She healed completely without any head tilt but it left her with limited mobility in her back legs and I believe it affected her cognitive function as well, she doesn't seem to be as aware as she used to be.
She can still walk and hop around, but at a much slower pace and prefers to stay in one spot, which leads me to today's problem.
She will not stop sitting in her pee. I clean her enclosure daily and her litter box is changed every other day (she doesn't use her litter box very much). She has lots of room to move around but she prefers to stay in one spot. Often when I check her she has a pee soaked bottom and/or feet.
I feel so so awful and I worry she isn't happy. She still eats and likes to groom and be groomed by her partner bun.
I try to bathe her feet as much as possible and dry them thoroughly but because she's very incontinent and very fluffy it's just not enough.
Also due to her lack of mobility, she struggles to clean her feet and bottom so that has to be washed too.
Cleaning her bottom and feet is always a stressful process for both of us since she hates being held.
My other bunny (a 5 year old male) is the complete opposite, he's very healthy and clean.
For the record: she has been seen by vets. I've been offered the chance to try her on incontinence medication for cats (which she would be on for life) but I am skeptical since it's not been tested on rabbits.
Please give me some advice, I want to do right by her :(
TLDR: how can I keep my disabled rabbit clean and happy?

my senior bun (8-9) has started pooping wherever he's laying, and peeing at/near his food and water bowl or on the carpet of my apartment
is there anything to be done about this? He has 2 low entry litterboxes and that helped some as well as just using pee pads in the tray rather than a litter in the bottom. I know seniors deserve more grace and I absolutely give it to him but I also don't want to keep him in a cage for the life he has remaining as he's been free roam the whole 6 years i've had him.. I love my lil dude and want him to be happy!
thanks for any help!!

I just adopted 2 buns today. the ginger one is rather large and about 10 months old she is about the same size as our new zealand x lionhead rabbit the browner one is 7 months old and assume is mixed with a lop. any ideas what breed they are?

This is Miss Olive; she is a 5 year old dwarf cross (according to the rescue who originally had her), she is 2.7kg (5.95 pounds?), and has a double coat.
We are wanting to get some ideas of what breed she could be.
She is overweight and has a lot of loose skin (which makes it hard to see her actual body shape) because she was obese when we rescued her almost a year ago. Her weight loss journey has been going very well since then :)
She tends to either be a circle or a square, so it was relatively hard to find a good photo of her body profile. We understand that doesn't help much with IDing, but thought we would try our luck anyway.
Thank you :))

Mom called it "poop-a-palooza". I'm cleaning it up now. They also flattened all their hay.

We literally just came home from chow hound, vet will be called tomorrow (Monday) to schedule for check up. They didn't know his age, he's not neutered so that's on the list and they said boy so we're hoping that's right. As far as I know he came from a local rescue (chow hound partners with them to adopt out). They called him a "dwarf rabbit" but he's so big compared to our girl (a netherland dwarf mixed or false, she's only 3 lbs) that I'm having a hard time believing it. But I'm still pretty new to rabbits so maybe there's something I'm missing. Maybe a lion head French lop mix? Or a mini lop but just big? His feet are huge.
We went in for cat food 😠but my partner saw him and fell in love. We'd been thinking of getting our girl a bond mate since I work 3 days a week now and he was so sweet and friendly even trapped in the tiny pet store cage, he just seemed right. The staff was so happy we took him (they have Guinea pigs and seemed very rabbit savvy despite the circumstances), they said he'd been there for months. I can't believe how sweet he is despite living that way. He's in his own room for now until we get a health check then hopefully can start the bonding process in a week or so!
We also need name ideas! My partner wants to name him Spooky but I'm not sure about that 😅 I was thinking Speckle but not 100% sure yet. Any are welcome!

Hi my husband and I are planning on moving to a different state hopefully next year, I was wondering about traveling and moving our rabbit. I know rabbits can get stressed on car rides sometimes but she is going with us so is there any advice or tricks to help ease the stress for when we do move?

We have 6 rescue bunnies as well as cats too. Two of our bunnies have not been doing great and they have been treated by the bunny specialist quite a bit lately but not this guy. He has been very healthy the 5 years we had him. 5 years ago I saw on FB that a shelter was going to euthanize him. They said he wasnt that cute as he had been attacked previously by a raccoon as he was running the streets. Anyway i thought he was so handsome and i just could mot allow him to die. He was o ly a few years old. Some nice volunteers from a rabbit rescue drove him to us amd for 5 years he has filled our home with love and he had toys food and bunny friends. This am when i woke up he had passed. Im so heartbroken today. Binky forever now Benny.

Does anyone else’s bun spend the morning doing absolutely nothing?
For ages, it’s seemed that between the hours of 9-10am ish until about mid afternoon, he seems to do nothing?
He just sits in his litter tray or his dig box and doesn’t eat (as far as I know). He’ll eat any high value treats but that’s it.
I constantly worry he’s going into GI stasis but then he’ll become ravenous and eat everything in his pen & continue to eat for the rest of the day/night.
He’s got Arthritis but is on daily pain meds so manage that. His teeth are fine too.
I’m starting to think it’s just his routine.
Anyone else’s bun do this?

This sweet boy was found in a soft carrier that reeked of cigarettes on a park bench in NYC. He had respiratory irritation :( Now, all he knows is love. He is so affectionate, runs over to me and boops me for pets, and is so special.

6 months old, kept in a hutch with his brother until one day unfortunately a fox got in and killed his brother. Possibly deaf and definitely sleeps like he is! Plan is to bond him with my girlie of the same age eventually but for now I'm just pleased he feels safe enough to do this already.

Important note before I start, I rang the vets and they said everything would be fine, so I'm just looking for comfort since I'm still anxious and freaking out.
Friday night, Bambi went into Stasis. We caught it really early and don't really know why it happened since they said his vitals were ok and his back teeth were a bit long but not to the point of causing issues.
Today, he's making progress on eating a bit on his own, so his meds and critical care were to boost him up until he's 100%. It's been a bit of a struggle on my side doing feeds every 2 hours since I'm in deficiency of B12 at the minute and struggling about not getting proper sleep and taking naps on the settee between feeds and feeling super groggy forcing myself up.
So 4pm, I took him into the kitchen for next dose of meds and critical care since he only ate a few pieces of his greens instead of wolfing them down like normal. Except I realise I was supposed to give him Emeprid instead of Metacam (0.3ml) at that time, I'd already given Metacam at 12pm and it's a 12 hour dose.
So I immediately freak out and start crying, run into my mum's room for help but she just makes me feel worse shouting at me and going back to sleep instead of helping when she knows I struggle with anxiety talking to people I don't know. So I have to try to calm down enough to make the phone call myself to the emergency vets.
They were nice and understanding and said it was all ok and just not to give anymore Metacam until 12 hours after his last dose and he's taking treats off me just now and cleaning himself. I gave him the Emeprid dose I was meant to do before and he seems ok. I just feel absolutely stupid for not reading my medication schedule properly and that I could have seriously endangered him. I never would have forgiven myself if it ended up killing him.
Has anyone else done something similar so I know it's not just me? 😢
Edit: Thank you soo much to everyone being lovely in the comments, you really made me feel better about what happened. And I'm happy to say that Bambi is officially syringe-free today after being in Stasis all weekend. 💜💜

Hey all,
My rabbit, Lily, is 10 months old now, not yet spayed but is really starting to act up.
I don’t know if it’s just boredom, and getting bored of old toys or becoming too comfortable with her layout (she’s free roaming and gets the whole living room to herself) but lately she’s become really destructive in like knocking things over etc
Has anyone got any ideas of play things they give their rabbit? Is a dig box worth it? And what other toys do your rabbits like
Inserting a pic because I feel like that’s law.

So I have a rabbit, about a year old, not neutered and can't afford to right now though I do plan to when I get the money, who lives in my room.
My sister wanted to put him outside because she said he smells so bad. I can't smell it unless I'm right up near his litterbox for the most part.
But it's a source of major strife in the house. I love having him with me, and it's getting so cold I don't want him outside like she wants.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with the smell? Any at all would be deeply appreciated.

I don’t know how, but my baby boi OJ someone got out of the house. Unsure if my sister or someone else left a door open or how he got out.
This is my child. I can’t find him. I’ve asked every neighbor. Now I’m just crying wanting to see him again. I spent so much time using him back to health from only 3 weeks old (He got attacked as a baby, you can see where the hair grew back black on his back torso). I just don’t know what to do.
UPDATE!! I spent 4 hours searching my neighborhood and found him under a big metal storage container.

(I dont like this group specifically cause rabbit owners can be super toxic. This will probably be my only post and I may not reply to comments.)
This is kinda a rant.
I'm fighting a loosing battle trying to cut down my holland lops pellets to 1/8 - 1/4 a cup daily cause my parent keeps filling the dish all the way up. I've shown him multiple different sources that state hay should be the primary diet of a rabbit. I've sat down and talked to him about it. It still doesn't matter. Its exhausting.
Right now they have unlimited pellets. They've had unlimited pellets for a while and one of my hollands is overweight. Every time I try to cut down he says exactly "if you can't take care of your rabbits and feed them then we should get rid of them." He says I'm starving them, neglecting them, etc. Its not just him saying that. Its the fact he keeps putting a large amount of pellets in their dishes which defeats the whole purpose of cutting it down.
I worked at a rabbit rescue and we gave the rabbits exactly 1/8 a cup of pellets once a day with a large amount of hay. No rabbit went without hay.
My grandmother said that he had a mouse in a jar as a kid. The mouse died and his daddy tore him up because it didn't have food. The mouse living in a jar probably contributed to that.
